THIS STORY:
Amber Gail "Aimee" Creek was an American teenage girl from Palatine, Illinois, who was murdered in February 1997. Creek's body was found in Burlington, Wisconsin not long after she ran away from a youth shelter. Creek remained unidentified for approximately one year, and it was not until April 2014 that police arrested a suspect, James Eaton, a native of Palatine. Eaton pled guilty to a reduced charge of reckless homicide in late 2014.

THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

I have heard of this case. The child needed a lot of mental health care. He didn't have the money. He didn't qualify for government assistance. He was told as a last resort to surrender the girl to the police. (I believe it is under the safe haven law.) That way, DCFS will take custody and they are supposed to get the child the help they need. At some point the he can get the child back but it seems she ran off before they were able to do anything. It's not because he didn't love her. It was because he loved her and was desperate to get her help. If this country had healthcare for all she might be alive today.

I was at her funeral. They did take her to this cemetery to be buried, so she was never at another one. It was more than a year before she was identified, and 17 years before James Eaton was identified and arrested for her murder. He was convicted, thankfully.

The grave was donated by the Catholic Cemetery Association of Racine, the association owned by the Catholic parishes in Racine, Caledonia, Mount Pleasant and Sturtevant Wisconsin. Holy Family is one of four cemeteries they operate. It’s my understanding the burial was donated by a local funeral home, and once she was identified a gravestone was added. It’s my understanding the family decided to keep her at Holy Family. I can speak on this, as this is where my family plot is which my mother is buried at. You did show that in your video. The cemetery has been there since the 1850’s and was originally the parish burial yard for the former Holy Family Catholic Church which was built in the 1850’s and burned down in 1930, and subsequently absorbed by the cemetery association. The church stood in the area of the cul de sac drive. Years later another Jane Doe was also buried here and was recently identified, her body was exhumed to be reburied by her family in Illinois. Her killer is awaiting trial in Racine County and is in the Racine County Jail

I love the history of people, cemetery history, statues artwork, tombs, mausoleums, crypts, paranormal unknown explanations. This was such a well done video. I grew up in Burlington, near Karcher Park, and this happened when I was 7 years old. Ot has been a case that had always haunted me. I knew of most of the details before the video, including the conviction of the killer. The way you spoke about Amber and literally said she deserved better just made my heart swell. I didn't have a good family and eventually moved out when I was in high school. Amber was exploited based on her situation. This is so common among people who have no support in their lives - at zero fault of the victim. I no longer live in Wisconsin because of how the state handled my case and just left me to fend for myself. But I feel so connected to this case on multiple levels despite never actually knowing or meeting Amber. I encourage anyone who knows someone who doesn't have anyone to make an effort to share apart of your life with them. This world needs more good people to make that step, because for every good step that doesn't get taken, their are countless bad ones that do. There are more Amber Creek's in the world than we know. Again, very tasteful video and great information with dedicated respect to the video. Thank you.

As for Amber's father, he probably didn't know what to do or where to go if there even were easily accessible agencies to turn to for help. As a previous community services worker I have heard of this so many times its heart breaking. There just isn't enough resources out there to help & in many circumstances such as badly rebelling teens, children with disability etc many parents are forced to relinquish their parental rights & hand their children over to become wards of the state to be able to get the help they need or to try to get that help because the governments wont help unless the child is a ward of the state. It's an awful situation to put parents in, but sometimes the parents are burned out, can't cope, their children desperately need more help than they can access, parents shouldn't be put in that position. The changes start with the GOVERNMENT, they hold the power to make the changes, complaints & petitions need to go to them not the small local agencies. I am very passionate about advocating & empowering people to get the services they need within their communities.

I see your point about how close she is to the road. IDK if it’s any cheaper there or not. We buried my grandma near the road and not in the same cemetery with her husband who had been killed in the coal mine in the 50s (even though her name is on that stone too) so my uncle who is in a wheelchair could get to the grave. Not something you would necessarily think about unless you needed to.

I worked several years for Children and Family Services here in Washington state. I can tell you that the whole system is a miserable failure.Their utter failure, in 2012, to protect two little boys (they were in the care of their maternal grandparents; their father had murdered their mother and both the father and HIS father had been sexually abusing those children) resulted in those two little boys being horribly murdered by their father. This happened not far from my house. The little boys were buried together, in the same casket, and a plot next to theirs is reserved for their mother, if her remains are ever found. If you want to learn more about the case, read "If I Can't Have You", by Gregg Olsen. We take flowers out to the little boys, and Christmas trees. Their resting place is just a few miles away. That case still tears me up. A lot.

Such a sad story. I have a question. Do you take a small token or flower with you and leave it at the graves you visit. I have started visiting graves in my area of Florida and when I visit I leave an inexpensive fake flower. It makes me feel good to know that the person has something on their grave that shows that they were remembered.

I just now found this one...brings back lots of feelings of helplessness for me. I know that our children are highly neglected by our State governments. I was a foster Mother for 10yrs and so many of these kids are soooo damaged by the age of 10 or so that the services they Need to break through the walls of their trauma are not accessible to them by the State and they are lost forever. My heart breaks for Amber.....none of this was her fault. What kind of decisions does a traumatized 14yr old make? My point exactly. The powers that be are comprised of the "Professionals" in their fields yet these kids continue to be the victims of the System. I'm not surprised that her Father wasn't arrested on the spot for child abandonment....I have to give him credit for trying. He didn't raise her or support her while she was growing up but he did take her in and did the best he knew how to do....again, he wasn't given any supports from the State to ensure his daughter had all the services she needed and if that included a lock-down facility then so be it. Ok, now my Rant is over and I feel better. Thanks for letting me vent RIP Amber.

I can’t blame her father. If you haven’t been through something like this, well it’s just unimaginable. My granddaughter has just about killed me for 10 years. Right now I’m in bed because she’s out somewhere needing help to fix her car. She’s slept in car for five nights now. She doesn’t live here. About six hours away. She worries me everyday of my life to the point that I don’t care if she goes to jail or not. The emotional stress is enough to make me not want to wake up everyday. So tonight please say a prayer for her and for me to get some peace. Nobody could do more than I have to help her. Amber’s molester and her dear mother should be in prison. Kudos to her father for trying as hard as he did. Actually sometimes you do have to give up. God bless everyone who’s going through this with a loved one. Hardest thing on earth to deal with. There is NO help, just faith in God that someday things will change 😢. God bless the addict and their family because they all pay the price.

May Amber find peace. She's buried in a beautiful spot. Although I grew up in a little town called Newton Falls, Ohio, I used to do a lot of hitchhiking around the midwest back in the '60s, and Wisconsin was always my favorite. The people there were so friendly and nice, many Swedes and northern Europeans. A couple of times I got invited home to the farm for a home-cooked meal. There's so many trees and it's really green. I never could figure out why they called part of it "upper Michigan" when it was connected to Wisconsin?

If Amber was buried as a ward of the state, they are always going to do the burial as cheaply as possible. If done by private citizens, and/or public donations, it too will be done as economically as possible. That means the cheapest casket, the bare minimum service, burial plot, etc. It’s sad, but true.

You need a license to get a dog, but anyone can have a child. Amber deserved parents, not a sperm donor and a surrogate.

I hope they catch the other culprits. What evil people to do that to a young girl. May they never have a moments peace.

Sadly she is not the only child before or since who has had to live under horrific circumstances. Happy she is in a better place. 😢 Thank you for the sensitivity with which you tell these sad stories. ❤️

I was born in 1980. I feel all people born in 80s especially close to 1980 as my family. This was a effin sad case
