I still use sometimes an AMD E1-2100 ( i have watch this video on the E1) and it's pretty bad CPU but for some light internet usage and word processing it's good. It was never sold for gaming or more, just for very basics task and 9 years laters it can do it allright !

Honestly, that thing would probably make a pretty okay-ish ghetto HTPC. edit: Nevermind, it can't even do 1080p videos, ha.

A friend gave me his old Lenovo laptop with the AMD Vision E1 1200 from 2012 to see if I could make it usable for very basic tasks in 2023. I could not. I installed an SSD and upgraded it to 8GB of RAM. Running a fresh install Windows 11, it is painfully slow at really any task. Even just checking Gmail or watching a KZfaq video at the lowest possible resolution (360p) is too much for this CPU. I’m pretty sure people were watching standard definition KZfaq back in 2012 with no problem… So not only is it garbage now, it was garbage when it was a new product.

i got a laptop with E1-2500..im sure they can play 1080p vids just fine just need the h264ify extension and disable 60fps vids because any vids with 1080p60 fps will run like crap and gpu usage is pegged at 100%

I have this PC, i took out the eWaste motherboard and i plan on making it a intel I5 3300 gaming PC with a AMD R7 350x GPU, i like the case just not the garbage they put in there

You can do some super old emulation but it struggles with almost everything

Probably just low-spec programming at this point. Maybe it'll run good on some old distro that still uses 1.x or 2.x kernels. Non-journaling file system. No weird RAM governor on linux//no superfetch on windows. And no realtime security measures like what happen on all modern OSes&kernels Ohhh or 3D modeling. I used to make stuff for haloPC on an 18(19 or 20... or 21) year old computer with like 380 megs of ram and a geforce 2 mx200. With 3dsmax7 ✨ Surprisingly 3D modeling with old hardware isn't so bad. With old games like this we weren't really exceeding 3000+ polies on a model unless it was actual MAP terrain and the framerates in the modeling programs were nice. I think it was an 800Mhz celeron. Or .. maybe an 1100Mhz P4 with no HT yet. I don't remember. It had to have been both.

Just bought this same model at my local Goodwill for $2.99.... and I'm beginning to think I was robbed! 🤣 Interestingly, it came with a hard drive.... but, instead of its 500GB HD with Win 8, it came with a 250GB HD with "lubuntu" installed. No idea how to operate it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

whats odd is that it ran decent speed with win8 new oob. and then it went slow and reinstall fresh OS or even RAM and SSD doesn't help it now. tried linux and chromeos flex and still sad compared to dozens of other vintage pcs i have done this with. most of the others are intel and even celerons run better than this amd POS.
