A mapping error has left this American city to be controlled by Canada. The Northwest Angle (Angle Inlet) - that small bit that sticks out of Northern Minnesota - exists because of an accident made by map makers before the United States border was established. Today, residents are essentially controlled by the Canadian government. In order for people who live in the Northwest Angle to travel to the rest of the continental US they've had to cross into Canada and go through customs. For many people this has meant four border crossings a day. The inconvenience has even prompted residents to create a 37 mile long ice road across Lake of the Woods. Due to severe weather this year, however, that passage was shut down. The community there has had enough, and some are ready to take a stand.
