@Adunolatheoracle
The Difference Between the Boveda🕯and Ancestor (Egun) Altar💀
1. The ancestor altar tends to be stationed outside on a patio, porch, garage, or storage cabinet.
2. The ancestor altar is for BLOOD ANCESTORS and spiritual LINEAGE ancestors only. The ancestor altar IS NOT for spirit guides, deceased loved ones such as friends, exes, or your favorite deceased celebrities.
***There are other things you can do to honor loved ones not in your family.
3. Having a Boveda, and knowing who your Spirit Guides IS NOT ALWAYS necessary, but everyone has ancestors. Even if you’re not sure who your people are, you can still honor them, in fact, they can help you find lost living blood relatives in this life!
4. You DO NOT need a special INITIATION or CEREMONY to honor your own ANCESTORS, but having a consecrated Ancestor cane known as “Opa Iku” or Palo de Egun (NOT talking about PALO Mayombe), then it helps.
NOTE: Teja de Eggun is received IF NECESSARY from a LUKUMI BABALAWO only, but an Orisha Priestess or Priest with the Knife ceremony can also consecrate an Ancestor stick for you, and will be your main guide for starting to work with Ancestors.
An ESPIRITISTA is the EXPERT on how to set up and work with a BOVEDA. Many Orisha Priests are ESPIRITISTAS as well, but not all ESPIRITISTAS are Orisha Priests!
5. FOOD OFFERINGS generally go on the ANCESTOR ALTAR outside, NOT on the BOVEDA!
This does not mean that Spirit Guides don’t get food offerings occasionally, it’s just not always place on the Boveda table reserved for prayer, cleansing, and meditation.
All you need to get started honoring ancestors is the four elements: Water for Libations, 💧Earth for grounding, 🌳Air naturally outside, 🌬and Fire 🔥 for Candle Light and burnt offerings such as incense, and ancestor money as the wind carries your offerings to the Spirit realm.
COMMON ANCESTOR OFFERINGS
1. Water
2. Coffee
3. Liquor and Beer
4. Fruit
5. Unsalted Food:(Their favorite snacks and meals in this life).
6. Sweets
7. Their favorite Cigar and Cigarettes
8. Honey
9. Ancestor Money aka Chinese Joss Paper
10. Prayers, Traditional Songs, and Their Favorite Songs.

In family tradition, we put the ancestor alter in the living room so they are near the entrance door, so they can come and go as they please. We do this to prevent envious and bad eyes, as well as not having the police called to our home. 21st century with all the information around and people still think such set ups are seen as evil or ill-intentions. 🥺😔 The boveda or alter for spirits/ deities are placed in other rooms depending the situation and set-ups, usually always in the hallway, if room allows it. Thank you so much for another great video. Ase.

It’s good to know that you know your ancestors because you can buy things that are appropriate for their customs and traditions for offerings . Unlike for us who doesn’t know our old old ancestors because we have so much .its true that salt must not be in their food because when I give them some food with salt like today they say they don’t like it but they love my effort because of the 2 of cups and it means they connect with me .they said they like rice and liquor and ask me for tomorrow’s breakfast 😅 This are through tarot I ask.

Hi Adunola the Oracle! Thank you for making this video! I am Forever grateful for your presence in this world, helping us to get back in touch with what may Feel like Home to some of us here in this "Western Civilization"! I say this with love and no intentions to offend anyone nor trying to mess with anyones feelings or trying to have anyone attack me verbally on here or otherwise but i was just wondering...Does anyone else hear something like other voices singing with Adunola the Oracle in higher AND lower octives around 2:28?! Adunola the Oracle, I have rewound this video numerous times, so i was wondering could it possibly be people behind the camera?? I ask this because have had an experience before where I Have Heard lots of voices as something like strong distinct whispers, whilst praying with a family member before and it felt as if there was an unbelievable uncountable amount of beings in the apartment that I couldn't see with my physical eyes...because it was As If my minds 3rd Eye received a visioned video of some sort, of types of jumpy video flashes of light beings all around us praying with us! How about unstoppable chills throughout their body as Adunola the Oracle is singing?! I felt as if all the words being sung were cradling my soul!`Ase

Yes indeed!😊 I used to have mine set up that way UNTIL.. I had a Misa done and my spirits were not getting along with each other. The key to understanding Yoruba and African tradition is the NATURE element with the SUN and WIND energy, and knowing that all spirits just Won’t get along. It can cause chaos to put the wrong ones together just like people. They have their own temperaments. Also, your way is cool if you are working alone, but if you commit to a Spiritual lineage, your spirits might request that you tighten up and separate certain things. But honey, I’m a true believer, if it works, keep up the good work. ✨💯

AwakeTheWisdomWithin W.GabrielleEther So others won’t be able to look at it or try to touch it since it’s a sacred space. If you have it in your bedroom you would want to section it off so your ancestors won’t be offended while you are naked. It’s like having them sitting in your room while you are getting dressed or being intimate with your partner
