In our latest Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim video we delve into Labyrinthian.
Dragonbreaks: • The MOST Confusing Con...
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

It is truly unfortunate that you can't even call the labyrinth in Labyrinthian a labyrinth at all. It doesn't have any forks along the path, just a riddle, and an easy riddle at that. Since it gives you all the staves you need, someone with almost no knowledge of magic at all can easily complete the labyrinth, much less an arch-mage. I want to see a mod someday that makes the labyrinth an actual maze and actually test the knowledge and abilities of the prospective arch mage.
@roanc3709

@Lord Protector Skyrim is rated M, so the question is why would a younger kid be playing. I'm not talking about teens, since they will do things they want to do whether or not they are supposed to, but a kid? Besides, the only way to feel like a mighty mage is to be tested appropriately, and succeed through magic or knowledge; however, getting a better labyrinth in the Labyrinthian won't change the fact that the College quests and the like are very stupid and anyone can become the archmage.

Wait, if the schools of magic are more or less arbitrary categorizations, how does the "labyrinth" know if the spell cast is appropriate? Like, if someone went inside during the late 4th Era, would casting paralyze at the Illusion keystone work? What if when Shalidor built the "maze," sun-based combat spells were considered Destruction magic. Why don't they work on the Destruction keystone? (I put "maze" and "labyrinth" in quotes because it's not actually a maze; there's just the one path you follow)

Awesome topic! My favorite place in the vanilla game because it's actually three locations in one! The ruin containing Morokei, his mask and the Staff of Magnus; Arch Magus Shalidor's Labyrinth which I think should still be a requirement to become Arch Mage and the draugr dungeon Lost Valkygg which contains the Wooden Mask. Top it all off with TWO word walls and you have the makings of an outstanding, must visit location.

Thank you Drew & Fudge Muppet guys, once again. In my latest playthrough, I am currently following the College of Winterhold questline & just got the quest to retrieve the Staff of Magnus, so I will be heading to this location shortly. I love the intricate and storied history of the locale. My worst memory of this place was in Oldrim, when I made the mistake of bringing a companion, Lydia, with me. There was a glitch which would get companions stuck in there and unable to leave the premises. I believe this may have even been in the outdoor portion of the site. It was likely patched in the unofficial patch and on SSE’s version, but I refuse to take chances, + I am using a multiple follower mod on XB1, so I will leave them close by & complete it myself. I always wondered about the mysterious wooden mask that didn’t appear to do much, in relation to other dragon priest masks. Now I know why. I, too, as many others have voiced, would have loved it if donning the wooden mask would have transported us back in time to see this remarkable place in all its former glory and do a few quests before returning to the present day ruins.

Hey Fudgemuppet, I have a Skyrim character build I would like to share with you. The argonian investigator. Skills are conjuration, illusion, alchemy speach, lockpicking, sneak, archery and one handed. Hailing from the argonian occupied territories of southern Morrowind, the investigator was born to a modest family. His father served as a warrior during the invasion and as such was often away from his family for long periods of time, leaving the investigator and his siblings in their mother's care. Early on he showed a deep curiosity of the world around him and whenever he wanted something he found a way to get his claws on it. As the investigator grew his curiosity pushed him to look further for new information and experiences. He started sneaking into restricted areas and picking his way into homes; not for gold, but for knowledge; always able to talk his way out of trouble when he was caught. One day he pushed his luck a bit too far and entered the house of an older mage. The investigator began to look through the collection of tomes but while he sat among the piles of scrolls the mage who lived there returned. The investigator begged the dunmer woman not to turn him to the guards, explaining he was only curious about magic and that he hadn't taken anything. The dunmer woman eventually gave in and let him go. The argonian began to return to the woman's home and began asking her more about magic. Even eventually letting him borrow her tomes for study. A few years passed and the argonian investigator had started working to help provide for his family. It was a thankless job and he hated it but the little bit of coin he got to keep he used with the caravans, always on the lookout for scrolls and information on the outside world. Months went by of this without any sign of his father and the lack of gold started to take a toll on the family until eventually a stranger, wearing similar armor to the investigator's father, came to the door with a small purse of gold and a sober expression. All of them knew what that meant. The The investigator's father had disappeared after sent out scouting and was presumed dead or captured and sold to one of the dunmer houses to the north. The investigator knew what he was going to do. The gold would be able to support his family for a while and he returned to the mage woman one final time. He explained the situation to her of his father's disappearance and asked if she would help watch out for his family until he could find his father. She agreed to his request and before he left gave him some of her books on magic as a final parting gift. The investigator returned to his family once more and told them he was going to find their father. He joined up with the occupation forces, lending his skills as a scout. This allowed him a chance to find information on his father's whereabouts and still provide to his family. As a scout he was trained with a bow but took to a pair of daggers when the situation got close. The investigator did not care much for killing and instead spent most of his time collecting information and helping his groups alchemist gather ingredients and craft potions. The craft reminded him of his time learning magic with the dark elf woman from his youth. His time at made him tired and he missed his family dearly but then one day while trying to get information from the traveling merchants one made reference to an argonian that made the investigator jump. The travelers gave the name of his father. He had been serving a house and had been made to carry out some of the goods the merchants bought. He could hardly believe it. His eyes grew wide and his heart ached knowing his father was still alive. He quickly gathered his belongings requested to be made a spy so he could go look for his father. The investigator was given permission and left immediately. He searched through the cities of the dark elves, making notes of their movements and resources and sending them back to the occupation while also being closer to his father. His had never felt so alive as he did hiding in plain sight. Even with all the dirty looks he was given by the dark elves he won their trust over and over again, loosened their tongues and gave every word back to his kin in the south, with no one the wiser. This was the life he was meant for. Deceit and espionage were in his blood. Eventually he found his way to his father's last location and learned he had managed to stowaway on a ship bound for skyrim. He quickly turned for the mountains to find his father and being him home, however, the investigator quickly finds himself lost and is captured by the legion to be brought to helgen. The character will quickly accept the role of dragonborn, seeing it as a way to earn trust and legitimacy with others and a way to get information. He join the companions for similar reasons and especially to seek out what power they may me hiding however you may cure your lycanthropy should you feel it doesn't fit your playstyle. He will also join the collage of winterhold and the thieves' guild to get more knowledge on magic and the people of skyrim. However he will not join the dark brotherhood for not his dislike of killing and because the dead can't tell you their secrets. In the dawn guard DLC the investigator will be interested in the vampires' power but disagree with them morally so how you roleplay this is really up to you. He will also definitely pursue the questline for the dragonborn DLC seeing another opportunity to learn and gather power. Feel free to edit or update the build for your own use but I thought this would be a fun character.

I never understood the timeline of frost elf, nordic people and dragons. When did dragons rule Skyrim? They were worshipped in Atmora. But did they were worshipped in Skyrim when frost elfs were the rulers of Skyrim? If not, then did the dragons helped nords to conquer skyrim from frost elfs? Frost elfs were advanced race. It was less likely the nordic people defeated them entirely without some help, like the dragons.

@@leofernandez2705 Atmorans didn't outnumbered them as far as I know. They would've, if elfs didn't interfered in Saarthal. And Frost elfs were defeated after Atmoran reinforcements came. But my real question is, when the dragons were worshipped? If they were worshipped in Atmora, then they might have helped the Nords.

@@Akash-jz2vf this is late response, but dragon worships were practiced long ago, when Atmorans set foot on Skyrim. The first dwelers of the lands were the Dragons of course, in which they rule the entirety of the region. After the departure of Mer or Elves in their true homeland, they choose to travel to Tamriel, and each were seperated and became a race of their own after the adaptation in certain regions. Then elves came to Skyrim which later became Snow Elves. Dragons saw potential in men, thus why Kynareth blessed them with speech, as according to lore _they do not have the ability to speak_ perhaps they were taught a more efficient language rather than primitive. This is were the Thu'um's came to be. Dragons wouldn't help as they were a neutral creatures

Not to mention, Dragons weren't in trouble with the snow elves back in the late merethic and first era so they wouldn't care to interfere in a conflict between two races.

I know I’m about a decade late, however, if you go back into the area with the enthralled wizards where you face Morokei, after you’ve finished the quest, you can get a second Staff of Magnus. I went back through again months later because I wanted to see if Ancano’s colleague Estormo was still there. I read that his body doesn’t reset so I was gonna dead thrall his Thalmor ass. Got a second staff of Magnus from the remains of Morokei. Edit : Estormo’s body wasn’t there. Must have left the area for too long. Shame really, I did so want to add him to my collection. I use the room in the basement of the Solitude player home to store my dead thralls. It’s getting a little crowded. I even have a couple of dragon cultist’s whose bodies never reset for those times when you need a meat shield

Suggestion: A Spartin build.
@michaelweiske702
@michaelweiske702 5 жыл бұрын
"What is up, guys? Mich-Scott here with a new build from MudgeFuppet. This is the spartan. Now like always, there are no timestamps, because this is a comment you dipsh*t. The Spartan was born in Sparta to two Spartans, his father a soldier, and his mother who died in childbirth. His father would teach the spartan how to use a sword and wield a shield before taking him to the academy, where the spartan would train in combat. In his service one day, the spartan was accidentally summoned by a mage in Cyrodiil. Out of fear and confusion, the Spartan murdered the mage in cold blood before running as fast as he could in whatever direction he could find. He was captured crossing the border in Skyrim where the game begins. The Spartan will be most comfortable using scaled armor, leather bracers, leather boots, and an imperial helmet (not ro be mistaken with an imperial officer's helmet). He will use an imperial short sword, as it closely resembles the bronze swords from his homeland, and a round shield. He will at first use a banded iron shield but will then either use the shield of Ysgrammor or the Targe of the Blooded, depending on how your spartan feels about magic and offense. At some point, the spartan will have to come to terms with the fact that he will never see home again. This may happen during or after your playthrough. If he feels hopeless, he may commit suicide or have more suicidal tendencies, or he may accept his new life and live out his days in Skyrim. If the spartan were more romantically inclined, he would have a large bias towards the races of men. That said, he would still likely join the imperial army, as their tactics are more familiar than the barbaric Stormcloaks. You could also subvert the spartan's realization by giving him a fantasy that he could go back home. If an elder scroll can bring a dragon through time, maybe it could bring him back to Sparta. He would dedicate himself to Hermaeus Mora in order to gain power and learn how to get back home."

Hey fudgemuppet I'm a huge fan and have a theory I'd really like you to look into. I believe aldmeris was a real place, a floating island or piece of mundus above tamriel. I think all the elves were holding onto their divinity during the dawn, while the wandering elenfoy(sp?) Committed to mundus. I believe that as aldmeris was above tamriel moving in a southwestern direction, the Falmer and dwemer "fell off". The falmer were extremely devout, so much that I believed they "followed" the example of the divines who committed to mundus, and committed themselves, breaking off of aldmeris early, landing in skyrim with their advanced magics. The dwemer I believe did the exact opposite. They gave the gods no glory, and instead believed in their own abilities. This disregard for the etheral that they were still apart of wind up "expelling" them from aldmeris. It is likely the dwemers disregard had them leave aldmeris before the falmers faith did the same to them, which is why the dwemer are found farther to the east in morrorwind. Aldmeris starts in the northeast and moves southwest until eventually "falling/combining" into/with mundus completely. I am a huge lore fan and I think this to be an extremely valid theory, however I do not have the resources to research it like you do. If you could explore my theory I would love to see what you come up with, this has been on my mind a long time. Thanks in advance ! Great lore videos by the way! Plz look into the Aldmeris theory. Thanks again!

For a place called a labyrinth it isn't. So what the hell Skyrim? It was in Arena. Do not tell me it changed over time. It was Bethesda as usual not caring about consistency. It would have been so much better had this dungeon been a actual labyrinth. That way you would have to figure your way around. Skyrim would have to not place a go here marker. There is a small maze in a smaller section. Why isn't it in the main one? This was a missed opportunity.

Well another argument for this is that they decided to change things as they began to figure out the actual place of the Dragon Cult in the history of Skyrim. I agree that Labrynthian should've been more like an actual labyrinth, the way it was designed for Skyrim was to exist as an ancient Nordic city named Bromjunaar, which may not have been something that they considered when making the place for Arena (the name Labrynthian could have just been in reference to the labyrinth, and then later extended out to the ruins as a whole). It would've been cool to have to navigate a labyrinth before you locate Morokei
