Love Eric Burdon & The Animals. They were part of the British Invasion along with The Beatles, Rolling Stones & others. People are always shocked that Eric has such a different unique deeper voice. The Animals had a lot of great hits in the 60's such as "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place", "Baby Let Me Take You Home", "I'm Crying", "Boom Boom", "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood", "Bring It On Home to Me", "It's My Life", "Don't Bring Me Down", "See See Rider", "Monterey", & "Sky Pilot". Eric later joined the funk rock band "War" & they had a few hits "Spill the Wine" & "Tobacco Road".

They are not the original singers of this song but, they made it their own. It came out in 1964, I was born in 1962, my mother has this album and I listened to it when I was 2. During the Vietnam War it was a nightmare. Eric Burdon (lead singer) was 23 when he recorded this song. You must listen to more of The Animals and especially Eric Burdon. He did a song with War called Spill That Wine. Please listen to him sing this song. I think you will appreciate him, the band War and the whole experience. ❤

This one of the songs that makes me think of my Dad. He played this when I was a teen in the 70’s and I just fell in love with it! Thank you for reminding me of special memories 😊

eric use to live just along the road from me in walker, newcastle , jimi hendrix best friend was chas, jimi's dad came all the way from the states to attend chas funeral at north shields uk, sanfanciso nights is another good song, a really miss those days, the organist alan price had a hit with jarrow song which was a massive hit attributed to the 1930s depression in newcastle and tyneside

I was in high school when this came out. I feel that our music was best as a singer or band had to have real talent without any help and we enjoyed the music without having someone with hardly any clothes on shaking their bodies.

Love you visiting the 60s-70s hits. As always, TYFS EDIT: this era let the listener interpret without an acted out / choreographed video. Many of these videos are from TV performances or concerts. Lyrics, musician skills and vocal talent mattered more than video production. No auto tune trying to manufacture perfection.

The song was not written by them, rather it was a blues song or an earlier style. It’s quite effective to have these young guys singing. Eric Burdon had a rough upbringing in Newcastle, England, and took to the blues. He said he first heard a guy sing this in a pub in northern England. Also, someone wrote about the walking around the room as being like a funeral ritual.

You were wondering if someone from back in the day was watching your reaction video. I was six years old when this came out. It was on the radio a lot. When I was eight years old. This was one of the songs that I really started to pay attention to the stories, and the music I heard. House of the Rising Sun, by The Animals, is one of the first songs that made me fall in love with music. It is still one of my all-time favorite songs, at age sixty-five.

I know rhe reason so many Rock And Roll Artists wore Suits in the 50's and 60's. For example when The Beatles started they tried wearing Black Leather, but their manager convinced them to wear Suits instead. Because Rock And Roll was still new with so many people from Older Generations having so many crazy ideas about it. They thought that having Men in Suits might convince them that Rock And Roll Artists weren't really that outlandish. So they might decide to concentrate on the voices and music instead. I know it worked for My Mum who was a 40's Teenager, She became an Elvis Fan.

they were told to smarten up-- no scruffs-and the Animals hated it --mostly Eric Burdon -management wanted everyone to be nice like the Beatle's-Herman's Hermits etc.-the Animals were gritty and bluesy and rough & tumble -they should have left them be like they wanted to-a working class people's band

It's a very old song with varied roots. Depends on who you talk to. It's about a troubled life in a brothel, bawdy house, house of ill repute etc. Addiction. Giving advice to others you cannot follow yourself.

Great reaction as always. When I first saw this video I thought as the band was following lead singer, it reminds me of a group of troubadour or a mariache band. But I laughed so hard, I was like this is not the time to play follow the leader.

In a Retrospective it's a bit funny how small the Drumkit is and how they play the Drums, E-Gitarre, E-Bass. I only watched your Nightwish/Epica Reactions, but i love this Song ( the Singer Eric Burton is awesome) and many others from the 1970ies and some from the 1960ies. I'm a Metall Head since 1985 and listen more to Death/Black Metal, but good Music is good Music, no matter which Genre or which time it is from. Greetings from Germany. 🙂

This Video does not do the recording justice. I think the track is the original studio recording overdubbed for this TV presentation - They are miming here?? I also thing this might be re-coloured, I seem to remember watching this years and years ago in B & W

It's talent over style. Singers today need auto correct and dozens of hours in the studio. This was recorded in one take.

Nobody has their instruments plugged into an electric outlet! So the "video was done in one take" means only the video was done very efficiently. The editors synched up the earlier-in-the-day vocals in a recording studio with the later-in-the-day video. Hardly any reactors mention, or are surprised by, the keyboardist winding up in the foreground from his original position way in the back.

great reaction guys... this is one of (if not the) favorite(s) of that time period... imho, the song is about sin and even though you try to stay away from it (and warn others) it is a continuous struggle, etc. the lead singer, eric burdon, is superb with so much deep soul in his voice. the band is also excellent especially the keyboardist. i recommend you react to haley reinhart's re-imagination of this song during her american idol competition... similar to what she did with "creep" with postmodern jukebox, it has the same deep soul of the original but with a different perspective. some consider it the best american idol performance ever. you can find it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ncWDosp2y97XnGw.html

Everything in today's culture is about being in the spotlight and looking glamorous yet fake, vain, and prosthetic, men and women alike. Today artists use machines to enhance their voices. Artists of the past really knew how to sing. This is a Great song. I'll put it in a bottle and the ones I've yet to hear are in the box. Thank you to both of you.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The lyrics make it plain: this is a cautionary tale by a person who did not heed the lessons he himself warns about. Avoid a life of "sin and misery in The House of the Rising Sun." To me, the best line in the lyrics is, "Well, I've got one foot on the platform, the other foot on the train; I'm goin' back to New Aw-lee-uns to wear that ball and chain." Such foreboding! I believe this song is composed in a minor key, which can impart a feeling of anxiety, of being off-balance, a sense of unease.
