One thing that a lot of people forget is that Griffith and the moonlight boy share a body. If guts were to kill Griffith, guts would also be killing his son.

Sorry, I think Guts didn't use the berserker armor because literally just got done having a moment where he saw the negative effect it was having on his senses and abilities. He has grown a lot and knows not to be as reckless.

I think your mostly right, but two things your missing. 1- Guts didn't use the beast of darkness simply because he didn't want to loose control, even against grittith. 2- The beast of darkness is already linked to the sword according to shrierke. The problem is that the beast never got to release it's full power yet.

The story has already been explained during guts and griffiths 2nd duel when guts leaves... during his first duel guts was pushed by hatred from trauma in his childhood and lost to Griffith for which griffith then said he owned guts and so he was going to fight for him.. during his second duel guts was determined to find his freedom and fight for what he believes and he wins breaking griffith mentally in the process. right now guts has been reliving the events up to the first duel for which he keeps losing. if guts hopes to win he needs to let go of his hatred and somehow a new power will emerge from this. the beast of darkness is holding him back. in the end guts will no long pursue revenge on Griffith. Guts always expriences a big trauma, falls into despair, seeks revenge and rises from his depair with a will to live, and moves forward to find peace before something again shatters it and it happens again. the story is a loop to figure out the future just see the events of the past.. each time the loop changes slightly. guts nearly exited the loop when he defeated griffith because he chose to stop chasing revenge and find his own dream and live for himself. what hurt him was he went back to his past to save Griffith. This time guts has to make a decision to leave his past entirely in some way forever leaving griffith or femto in a prison of his own creation. overcoming the beast of darkness is the end game not using it.

This would make great narrative sense. We all know Guts’ relationship with his sword from the Golden Age arc. It was a the only conduit through which he was able to find any meaning in life; or one could call it a crutch of sorts, since I don’t think Miura’s intent was to say that was true meaning or fulfillment for the character. If the beast of darkness were to be channeled into the sword, I think the next logical step is that Guts would have to separate from it or be consumed. So the story would conclude with Guts being stripped down, and forced to find an identity truly within himself.

So, good video, but there are a few things I’d like to point out. 1. As far as I can remember, there is no mention in Berserk that borites (or however it’s spelled) exist *in* people. You said they’re ‘dark elves’, the opposite of elves. By that logic, there should be very small elves living inside of people too. I could be wrong, it’s been a bit since I read through the series, but I do not recall any mention of borites living in people. 2. The reason Griffith ascended to the god hand isn’t because of the number of people he sacrificed, it’s because he had the red behelit, the egg of the king. That marked him as being ‘destined’ to join the god hand. It wasn’t (as far as has been explained) specifically because of the size of the sacrifice. Granted, an event like a new member of the god hand being created would most likely result in a larger sacrifice given the rarity of the scenario. 3. While we don’t know *why* the Beast didn’t take over when Griffith arrived on the island, but we do know that it isn’t just a rabid animal. The Beast of Darkness is clever. Odds are, it knew that it couldn’t do anything against Griffith, and frankly it has no reason to want to fight him at this point. It needs Guts alive if it’s going to take him over, and even if it had taken over Guts and activated the armor, there’s no reason to think that it would have actually helped any. Sure, it makes Guts super human (well, more super human) but there’s not been a single instance of a lethal attack harming him in any way. Rather than help Guts try to fight Griffith, it would be better for the Beast to keep itself (and by extension the armor) locked away and let Guts burn himself out on Griffith. Then when Guts is exhausted and broken by the loss of Casca, it swoops in and begins to enter its influence on Guts, who can no longer resist it. Which, as a matter of fact, is exactly what it did.

I'd assume he would create something similar to skull knight's "sword of actuation." And similar to the the berserker armor. Where it would be temporary channeling into the sword. I'm not caught up to current goings on or remember as much as I'd like to. But either runes or a magical re-forge of the sword should be the answer as to how. Creating something similar to the fire dagger given to Isidro.

My theory is that Griffith has already sewn the seeds of his own defeat. If the moon light boy ever obtaines complete control of his own body the Griffith is basically just sealed away and the world of berserk would actually have an pure god like being in it. So maybe guts could get in some final battle with Griffith but not ever actually being able to hurt Griffith but guts through his own actions for whatever reason cause the moon light boy to gain full control over his body

The answer to guts' problem is obvious, but it's not giving into the beast of darkness. It's the same offer Griffith turned down. He needs to stop fighting, and let others carry him. He or casca will probably strike one of the final blows to Femto using the ideal sword or something. But they need an army, and they need the people on his side. The people will give him the power over Griffith. I think Rickert was able to slap him for two reasons. Because like guts said, he couldn't truly hate Griffith. And because he doesn't view the current Griffith as the same Griffith he knew. I think guts needs to get over his hate in order to actually hit Femto. But he probably only has a few good swings left. And he can't rely on the beast of darkness. He needs to reforge his sword, symbolically being reborn. As he gets over his hate, and relies more on others.

Also, I love your take on infusing the Beast into his sword. That would make a whole lot of thematic and narrative sense, given the many, many influences of Nietsche. The beast is already a mnifestation of the concept of the "shadow", a deep and evil part in every human. Nietsche argued that to become a full person, you would have to integrate your shadow into your personality.

I’ve always thought that the Idea of Evil was the fifth Elemental King. Spacetime and causality manipulation, Barytes being elementals, etc. This is also why many stronger apostles can manipulate elements (Grunbeld: earth + fire, Ganishka: wind + water). Barytes bind the elements together. If my idea about the Sword of Actuation is correct, then Guts could provide the behelit as sacrifice for the Beast of Darkness, instead of the Godhand. Symbolically sacrificing his dream of taking down the Godhand, and instead giving it to the Beast. His Humanity. EDIT: Hell, this may be how magic works in general. Barytes are what’s being manipulated, not the four elementals themselves. Elementals could bind to a soul by connecting with their barytes, their emotions. In that case, perhaps powerful emotions and traumas make powerful sorcerers. Explains why Farnese could become as powerful as she did so quickly, and why Shierke massively grew over her journey with Guts and the others. Also, this whole idea explains why Slan likes emotions so much. It’s fuel for her Godhand form.

I am very happy someone else has talked about this. The most recent chapter has some major implications, once for power. What caught my eye immediately was how Guts reacted to the promise of power. Perhaps we will get an internal conversation in which the Beast explains it can act as something like a sponge for the hatred of both Guts and others.

I’ve been saying the Beast of Darkness is going to have a role in helping Guts take down Griffith for years. Remember that the Beast literally hates Griffith as much as Guts even calling Griffith “the light that burns me” Suggesting that the Beast of Darkness has his own mind and desire to crush Griffith.

probably a cool way of Guts to power up more would be to somehow tame the beast and use it to it's absolute fullest. Now that I think about it, I would love if they finished the manga with Guts overcoming his trauma and living a good life with Casca, maybe even use some of those stare down at a dying oponent begging for forgiveness type of panels.

I actually think the beast was supressing the power in the armor to eventually plea that he cannot defeat Griffith without him.

My personal theory, the Behelit is going activate for Guts in the coming chapters. 100% as he gives into the darkness it could detect he is at his weakest and activate pulling Guts before the god hand. And Guts can say no. Guts should not be alive, he is a hole in causality, a wildcard in the grand plan. I can see Guts being pulled before the god hand and then unleashing his rage and getting cast into the abyss. And while he's in there I can see the band of the hawk riding again. The souls of his dead friends banding together to push him back up and maybe even infusing themselves into the Berserker Armor and or Dragon Slayer. I can totally see the bloody ghosts of vengeance rising up to empower Guts in his hour of need and remind him who the fuck he is. He is the Commander of the Hawks Raiders. He is the hundred man slayer. He is the son of a bitch that is going to get back up and avenge his fallen friends. And then when he crawls out of the vortex of screaming souls he cuts one of the god hand in half and sends the message that it an't over till its over.

I read that Muira was going to have Guts separate from the party after the fall of elf Island and we were going to get Skull Knight's aka King Geiserec's backstory. This tells me that Guts may get one more power up and possibly master the berserker armor. Tbh I do hope Guts gets a new weapon that is made from the dragonslayer but we will see what happens.

Based on your logic in this video would that mean there are gods opposite of god hand and would they be elemental gods or something completely different? I was thinking would there be a stronger form of power in using light fairies instead of dark fairies? Could skull knight be hinting in that when he told Guts not to go down his path.

Just when I thought I had consumed all the Berserk content in the universe, I find this channel. This is an awesome and insightful and clever theory. The only bit I disagreed with is the fact you mentioned Guts’ main goal/mission is revenge against Griffith. He gave that up. His main goal/mission is the protect and take care of Casca and his friends now.

Guts’ sacrifice for the armor is his own sanity and self control. Griffith’s sacrifice for complete power is that through his rebirth into a human vessel as guts’ and casca’s child, he is forced to became a being of a being of innocence and love. Who seems to be ready and willing to help guts’ when he is able.

I feel there's alot told about berserks in susmu hirasawas music. its that sword thats black white, a symbol of universal embodiment. when guts becomes a realized man again a new world will begin in his realm. and even more of a master than a king by his own hand will guts be. a spirit that stood as a island and grew into a world born only for the brave.

I think you're onto something with Femto stopping the armor from activating because all throughout that fight Guts was fighting and looking the same way as when he fought without the berserker armor. They even drew him with good old shadow over his face and lightning across his only eye, the berserker armor feeds on rage and it activates easily if Guts submits to rage like he does in this fight.

I think it’s more of a Danny Phantom situation. Griffith is in the physical world and the deepest lair of the astral world with a form of magic wifi. In the astral world he can only be hurt with physical attacks. But in physical world he can only be hurt with Astral attacks. Since guts and other Apostles are physical. They cannot hurt him in the physical world while, witches can. Which is why Griffith got rid of them. Guts cannot go deep enough into the astral world to touch him on his own. The one time he did with ‘The Count’ Griffith needed to protect himself instead of letting his attacks phase through him. OR Griffith is a portal the the astral world.

Cool theory! I was just wondering, Guts still possesses his Beherit and could use it to channel darkness into Dragon Slayer in a similar way that Skull Knight does. Skull Knight devours Beherits to power up his sword into the Astral Sword and cut through dimensions since this is exactly what Beherits are used for. Guts might not need to devour his Beherit but rather merge it with the sword with the help from either Schierke or Daiba who created the Demon Womb and might know a way to make it possible. Demon Womb was created by merging living Apostles but if Dragon Slayer ‘remembers’ the essence of all the Apostles Guts slayed it might be a possibility maybe?

if guts somehow held the moon in the sky permanently, the moonlight boy would always be in control, and griffith would be trapped in the dream forever, a fitting fate for him. this way guts could defeat griffith and save his son

Therapy, the man is desperately need to have a modern day therapist at any point within the story. Not for any other solution to the issue, but I really do feel like he needs to be able to talk about his issues beyond his beast of darkness or himself.

I'm going to give this theory a hard no. It's an evil destroying evil thing, that doesn't really work in a hero's journey. The end will come when Guts breaks from the evil path and becomes "good" forsaking his selfish motives and strikes Griffith with "pure" motives. This will break the cycle that is ham-fistedly explained through Skull Knight and others. Flipping the story of Griffith attracting others through his strength of personality to Guts attracting others through his (which is all to evident), even apostles such as Zodd eventually. Thus Guts takes everything from Griffith turning him into a raging monster. This is foreshadowed in the two sword fights Guts and Griffith had together which if you remember was the only time Griffith was defeated.

Im pretty sure that griffith manipulated the beast of darkness to not be released because in chap 367 pannel 2 you can see that at a moment griffith felt the presence of the beast of darkness and he looked at it and im 100% that he did something, Kouji mori showed us it pretty well to let us understand , the 2nd question is how griffith could control it ? From my theory , it’s because until now we are always shown the beast as chained, from many drawings and moments during guts journey, guts had some control over it , and I think that's why griffith managed to not get the beast released , but in the new chapters, the beast will soon be completely devoid of its chains due to the despair and the inability to change anything from guts, that's where it's going to get interesting, I'm on that the released beast can be a huge danger for griffith, it will have the ability such as to cancel any effects of time or the supernatural of the apostles, as guts was the only one to defeat the cloud of Ganishka with his sword.

I think the reason the berserker armor didn’t work is because a few chapters back the moonlight boy wore the berserker armor and absorbed the barites in the armor I think the moonlight boy knew he would transform back to griffith on alfhiem that’s why he did it to stop Guts from completely being consumed by the berserker armor while encountering Griffith and most likely would have hurt or killed casca .That’s also why the beast of darkness is smaller than before on chapter 373 because the moonlight boy absorbed the barites. Or Griffith took control for few seconds while the moonlight boy had the berserker armor on and absorbed the barites the moonlight boy did run away from guts while he had the armor on.

I don't think Griffith was rendering the armour at all. I believe its the vision Guts saw from the blood stone that cautioned himself of what could happen if he let the armour take hold. I think Guts wants to somehow master that armour instead of it controlling him.
