What can I say? David Niven was so handsome and such an engaging actor. I was absolutely on the edge of my seat during his "countdown" . I imagine it was even more exciting during the 50's with all that was happening then. Thanks for this interesting short. I didn't see this coming when it began! 🌈🌈🌈

She was wonderful. I really liked her in A Hole in the Head with Sinatra. Early in her career she spelled her first name Caroline and appeared in several episodes of Dragnet. In 1953 she was in the 3-D film The House of Wax and Vincent Price turned her into Joan of Arc

This brief episode holds more wisdom and truth than every film I've ever seen in my 71 years of life. "But that's just the same old 10 Commandments." Is the understatement of a thousand lifetimes of human existence. God will be glorified. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess........

What a cute little short!!! The ending was also quite inspiring. I have always admired David Niven in every film I have seen him in and it was awesome to see Carolyn Jones in a different role other than Morticia...she was very Betty-Boopish in this one. Thank you so much for offering us this gem! I always have been a big fan of David Niven and now for the first time saw „The Answer,“ thanks to you. Interestingly enough it is about one of the most discussed topics of our present day: artificial intelligence. I wonder if Dennis Feltham Jones was inspired by „The Answer“ when he wrote his novel „Colossus“ - published in 1966 and later made into the movie „Colossus: The Forbin Project“ (Sargent 1970).

Great show. Great actors. Great writing. Where have all the greats gone? This story could never be made today in our “enlightened, pc correct” world. moslems, buddists, atheists, etc., etc., in other words minorities would get their “widdle feewings” hurt.......
@janegarner9169
@janegarner9169 5 жыл бұрын
Jerry Hatley Why do you imagine that this production would never be made today because, as you say, minorities might have their feelings hurt? Do you really think that most of the films & tv programs being made now are less offensive to “politically correct” minorities, atheists, etc? I’m sure I’d qualify as your idea of those you think would have their feelings hurt, etc, as my ancestry is Native American & I am a feminist & I’m not a Christian. But today’s movies & tv are as offensive to me as they probably are to you, probably more so. But what is it you object to? Do you want things to return to how you imagine they were in the more distant past? Funny, I often wish that myself. I often dream of what my life might have been like if I’d been able to live during the centuries prior to 1492, and if I were able to live among my own people during, say in the century prior to 1492, I wouldn’t have the problems I’ve faced since being born in 1948. I wouldn’t be a feminist because there’d be no reason, as my people were traditionally non-patriarchal (& non-matriarchal) and practiced participatory democracy. We also practiced what you might call a form of socialism (no extremes of rich & poor) while at the same time practicing small-time business. Our society was very egalitarian & allowed for a wide range of views & beliefs, including total freedom of religion as well as recognition of several genders. But you might prefer to continue living in this mess we’re all now stuck in, as the traditional views & ways of living of my people would almost certainly offend your own “widdle feelings”. By the way, this program with David Niven didn’t offend me, and I can’t imagine why you think it would. The moral of the show was based on both Christianity & Judaism, which is fine with me. My problem with some films & shows is that they try to force their religious beliefs on everyone, rather than respecting everyone’s right to their own views & religion. Nothing new there...throughout my 11 years in public schools I was daily forced to participate in Christian prayer, among other things that were foreign to my own culture. Why don’t you stop imposing your political beliefs on those who are simply trying to enjoy an old program? I noticed several posts similar to yours, all by persons who agree with you but none by those who you offend with your remarks. Don’t you find that strange? I can’t speak for others, but I doubt that Muslims & Buddhists & atheists would be offended by this program any more than I was. The program was clearly written & presented from a religious point of view, but it didn’t insist that we all convert so why should others be offended?

Jane Garner Ms. Garner, you’re giving all of the same tired (wrong) justifications for.....nothing. I’m an atheist...BUT I respect all peace loving peoples. I respect all religions that foster shalom/samaritan interaction between men and women of goodwill. I even go to religious services with my wife and friends and respectfully meditate upon ideas, and universal positiveness that DOES exist in humans while at the same time realizing we humans also have animalistic-like tendencies we will never “out evolve”. I’m not a radical atheist. Radical atheists are radical because they are not (subliminally) comfortable with their belief system. Kind of like all radicals....i.e. radical islamic jihadists, radical believers in sharia who hate gays, the clitoris, all women, and all who are not their particular “tribe” of islamist, feminazis, neo-nazis, supremicists(White, Black, chartreuse with puce polka dots-hey, that last one is a joke.....do you know how to laugh?) and all other type haters (“haters gonna hate”). One more thing....I am a Ionesco apolitical....that is a person who does not trust ANY politician nor political ideology that is practiced today. All politicians and attorneys are swine shit. The last honest attorney was Cicero and he died a few years ago!!! So, in this pc correct, racist identity, radicalized divided and subdivided world...no, this show could not exist in “prime-time”. Radical feminists would hate the lead character as being male, radical islamists would be up in arms (literally....CAIR) that christianity was being shoved down their throats, radical “lgbtqhba” folk would hate it for foisting upon them the 10 big ones that they most decidedly do not practice.....etc. etc. etc. Take note....all of these groups are minorities. We no longer have majority rule (haven’t for many decades). If a minority feels a slight, they simply holler “bigot!” and the “bigot” backs down....except those of us who are comfortable in our belief system. We simply turn our backs and walk away, a smile knowingly creasing our face........

Four Star Productions had the very best writers... This was my favorite episode and one of the most memorable. If it wasn't for the Spiritual need the Nephew was searching for, this eclectic gathering of neighbors would have never known the type of man they had been ignoring and persecuting for years as a con-artist and fraud? Too ignorant to realize the improbability to recall every fact written in the Encyclopedia takes a genius or a miracle? Sort of like a modern day messiah?
