That night when Chris watched the moon landing on Wolfe Island, I and my pesky 8 year old brother were watching it in Hamilton. His book, An Astronauts Guide to Life on Earth chronicles his epic journey that began on July 20th, 1969. He represents all what it means to be Canadian. eh?

@Chris Hadfield If the Earth is rotating on it's axis at 1,037 miles per hour, why aren't the stars above spinning around? Is it that the distances between planets & stars are such huge distances apart, and from us, speeds like 1,000 miles per hour or 17,000 miles per hour is teeny tiny in relation to those huge distances? (How can we best wrap our heads around that? Is there an animated simulation that makes it easy to understand somewhere?)
@uksf_jay17772 жыл бұрын
@@valerieann8007 i think its because the earth is also circling the sun at 67,000 MPH and its in a very near Circular orbit so you cant just think everything is stationery other than the earth's rotation and the moon's orbit therefor picture that and it all makes sense?
@valerieann80072 жыл бұрын
@@uksf_jay1777 Thanks, but does anyone know if there is some kind of simulation anywhere that demonstrates, why the constellations aren't flying around wildly even though we're rotating and orbiting at certain fast speeds? I would like to be able to properly picture it, and it seems that requires automated simulations to get one's head around it, as far as picturing space travel through the solar system and out of the solar system. And everything moves in circular patterns, but the far out galaxies don't appear to be moving that fast. That must mean that it should be straight forward and easy to travel to constellations, galaxies and planets if one had a spacecraft capable of quickly traversing those distances. That would seem a lot more enjoyable than a bunch of wild spinning of heavenly bodies to traverse. I guess not to worry, since it looks quite straight forward. It must be that the great distances put the rotating and orbiting speeds into context. That's good! 😊👍

@@uksf_jay1777 Do you or anyone know: How/where can we ask Chris Hadfield (who to ask at NASA) how the newly launched Webb Space Telescope will be protected from meteor showers, farther out than the moon's protection? (A lot of large meteors are attracted to, and hit the moon instead of the Earth.) Will the Webb Space Telescope be able to sense their approach and use solar power to move out of the way? I'll bet Chris would know who or which department to ask that question and get the true answer, rather than speculation. I'm speculating, but I want more than speculation. 😉
@valerieann80072 жыл бұрын
On the other hand, getting back to where you came from could be a bigger challenge. I read a small book by an Indian author, warning that if space travelling by astral projection, one should go very short distances, then turn around & come back home, gradually increasing the journey each time & memorizing your way back, little by little, in order to not get lost out there. People fly all over astrally all the time, but usually don't remember it, unless they always write their dreams down upon awakening, or practice lucid dreaming. I myself, was flying around above the Earth's atmosphere while dreaming, about 15 years ago, and became lucid when I popped inside a small spacecraft leaving Earth's atmosphere, and just stood there looking at the person in charge, a male among 5 or 6 Reptilians, all with coal black scaley skin, about to ask a barrage of questions, when he telepathically told me to not talk. I wasn't scared at all & had zero fear of being able to return home. Nonetheless, doing it consciously could seem difficult. When you look at the night sky, it's pretty difficult to recognise even the closest planet, Mars, from all the other heavenly bodies, so finding the way back by sight could be difficult. NASA should have saved video of th Apollo moon missions of what the Earh looks like on departure, & what it looks like to return to Earth. Can anyone tell me how to See views like that via Google Earth?😉
