I have to say that I am glad to see a quartet with such excellent communication, which in today's world can be hard to find. You four should be incredibly proud of your selfs!

Ms Simmons has some excellent posture on the bari. Big guys like me tend to lean forward a bit too much. The quartet is amazing. I love finding sax quartets and ensembles playing great classical music.

Never thought about playing Handel with sax4. But then again, why not? Very well done, it's interesting to notice the different voices of each instrument, playing both oboe and violin.

Absolutely beautiful. You guys are my inspiration for playing alto. Is there any advice you could give me with improving tone for a dark consistent sound?

Ryan When you practice a lot, your sound will automatically improve. Further, your type of mouthpiece and reeds are important as well. I use a D mouthpiece from Selmer and reeds Vandoren 2,5. This combination gives u a dark and warm sound, while keeping flexibility. The choice of saxophone has a lot to do with the sounds as well...

Ryan, so glad you are enjoying our music. As a group we focus on our deep relaxed breathing primarily and long supported 'out' breaths/ phrases with a clear idea in our heads of the sound we ultimately want to produce. This done daily with a good embouchure (see John Harle Book 'The Saxophone' and Rob Buckland's "Playing the saxophone" which are excellent guides) and regular contact with a good quality local saxophonist should be a good starting point! All the best and do stay in touch and ask more questions.

We play on similar set ups Stijn! C* Selmer mouthpieces (or equivalent) and 3.5 approx reeds. Thanks for your advice and help for Ryan our lateness to respond 👍

Great stuff ! Do you plan to come to France ? I had the privilege to be teached by the Jean-Yves Fourmeau and Diastema quartets during master-classes years ago when I was a teenager. I love sax quartets since that time, even if I hardly play the instrument anymore.

I generally like your work, and you're very good - but this pieces needs to be a bit faster. I know that you have speed limitations as sax players (Im a trombonist, I understand) but the song should be more allegro

My band teachers told me metal ligatures have screws facing down, while leather have screws facing up

Bates Pulliam There's no rule like that. Some ligatures are designed to have the screw(s) on the bottom, others on top. The only thing consistent is that the screws are supposed to point to the right (though some people put them in backwards and it normally doesn't matter too much).
