TEDx Talks

Күн бұрын

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Four simple questions are the start of a better way to meet people. So many people of us meet one another, collect a stack of business cards, and then throw them out without ever truly connecting. After bringing together hundreds of thousands of people, Mark shares his insights and outlines a way for us to make the most of those whose paths we cross.
Mark E. Sackett has no plans to sit still anytime soon. He owns 13 related creative businesses, lives between San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, and thrives on being inventive daily as he works in Entertainment, Media, Branding, Advertising, Print, Packaging, Identity, Graphic Design, Interactive/On-Line and Website Design, Film Production, Music, Concert Production/Events, and Television. He has been an award-winning Designer/Director/Producer for over 31 years with more than 1000 awards to his credit. Mark consults with CEOs, Venture Capitalists, Brand Owners, and Entrepreneurs around the world to grow their brands, investments, companies, and profits.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I am attending 2 huge conferences next month in California and I've been watching videos on how to network and WOW I am blessed to have found exactly the one that I needed!! This information just gave me a confidence boost on how to approach the many many people I'll meet next month. Thank you so much for delivering the way you did.

Mark is one incredible man and I love this philosophy. He is brilliant, caring, and really wants to make this world a better place to live. I am honored to have him as a friend. His events are extraordinary and I have met many fantastic friends and business colleagues through them. But you have to follow up. I still am amazed that that 70% of attendees in any social networking setting never follow up with the people they meet. In sum, care about everyone you meet and you will be amazed at what starts to happen in your life and the lives of others. Thanks for sharing your wisdom Mark.

Excellent video! The problem that I run into is that most people REFUSE to open their hearts and minds to connecting and networking even in professional circles.

If only the comment at the beginning hadn't been made "She was hot, but I don't really need that." It was very disrespectful and unnessesary to the point.
@MarkESackett

The point I was making is that many people think like that, all of the points I made are that this is what we do when we meet people. We judge, sort, evaluate, and categorize, by perceived beauty, availability, sexuality, weight, financial stability, job status etc etc etc.. I don't do that in my life, I am sorry you missed the point. And if you took offense my apology.

I was going to show this to my students, but when I heard that comment I decided against it. That attitude to other people - usually men to women - in a professional world is the view of a dinosaur and not something that should be shown as an acceptable way of dealing with people. I want to see young people going out into the workplace with a respectful and open approach. If you are still "categorising" other professionals by their beauty then I feel bad for you.

Actually, it was the point people have no respect for the complete person in front of them, and rather deal from them from a need don't need perspective. Guess Mark could have used the "They were not attractive" so why did I need them? Would that have been better?
