Just the best photo vlogger on You Tube. No waffle, no ego and Craig actually teaches you how to do it so you learn something.

As usual, very humble, very modest and full of advices. I don't see your pictures as bright in colors, vivid or outstanding, but, with all due respect and consideration, your perspective is simple and unique. Looking at your results, I feel frustrated. Because it looks so easy but in reality is really hard to achieve. I have the same camera (and probably the same lenses) and I can't get similar pictures. I just love your unique and special shots of simple things, under the 'perfect' angle and the 'best' time. Sometimes, I just feel you are using different tools, although, they are the same as mine. Again, this is a comment with my full respect towards your work, effort and skills ! Thank you for sharing ideas and for 'pushing' amateur/enthusiasts like me to go forward, although we are failing so often

One of the things that I admired the most about you during our 1 on 1 was your ability to see compositions from unusual angles/heights or juxtaposition of elements of the composition. I can still remember you encouraging me to see from above or below mine normal line of sight. Those lessons are still with me although I still don't use them enough.

Craig, it's great to know that I am not the only one who sees compositions all of the time. I would offer a word of warning to those who are just starting out. Once you start down this path forever will it dominate your destiny. Thanks again for sharing.

One of my thoughts about it is that in one particular form, seeing is similar to a poet using what he/she sees as elements to construct a poem to express. Hence, that image is a visual poem. For instance, with his "Approaching shadow" image, Fan Ho used a blank wall in direct sunlight (with the rest completed in the darkroom) to express his cousin was in her crossroad in life. Storytelling is the end result, while visualization in association with one's creative talent or what he/she has in mind is seeing. Alternatively, one can see an Accidental or Decisive moment of an organic element with a geometric shape--diagonal line. Famous Canadian Photographer, Freeman Patterson has another POV. He sees a close connection between art and religion in the sense that both are concerned about questions of meaning. His art statement included the following, "The abstracting of visual elements in order to recognize their particularity has become automatic, but seeing, combining, and creating them as integrated 'wholes' will remain a life-long challenge."

I do this all the time. Walking around thinking that this or that would look good. Or, how can I capture this or that. Or, I'll see something that looks interesting, then I'll go through all the different picture formats in my head to figure out which one will look the best. Do this often enough and it becomes second nature when you go out.

@@MrFreakwent Deliberately? Or by chance? A single example can disprove an "always" rule, but it proves nothing. Ask Google about the origin of the rule of thirds. You should find an article about it, featuring a wolf, it's cropped in various ways to illustrate the story.
