True fans will drive hours and hours for autographs - or class rings. Back in the '80's, I knew a girl in high school who drove from Livonia, MI to Daytona Beach, FL to pick up a class ring.

In my new car, driving 14 hours to Florida would take more than five tanks of gasoline. With a 12 gallon gas tank and gas priced at just over $3 a gallon, it would cost $360 for me to drive to Florida and back just for a player's autograph.
