Billy Dainty was superb. What a joy it must have been to see him in pantomime, brilliant.

Years ago when I was about 4 years old I was in my very first pantomime, Cinderella at Manchester Opera House. The auditions were held and cast by Dougie Squires, it was so exciting as a youngster because every night I'd enter the stage with Mr Dainty carrying a big drum on my back which Billy Dainty would assist me with and bang on with drumsticks as he was making his stage entrance. We'd enter stage right every night and right before the show started, we'd always get to say a quick hello to each other, he was very kind and always made me laugh...I loved to see him everyday...he was such a sweet man. Fantastic memories of my early days in showbiz as a dancer. I wish there was the technology THEN that we now have present day. I'd love to have a picture of that moment and memory of Billy Dainty and I entering the stage to thunderous applause for the man. I'll keep on looking and wishing until I find something. Thank you for the nice memories Mr Dainty.

In the 1950s and 60s, no variety bill was complete without Billy Dainty, a wonderful dancer, and an act I remember with great affection! Thank you Billy!
