Gekiga as we know it now seems to have lost its original meaning, as now it's more interchangeable with avant-garde or unconventional

Gekiga Influence Golgo 13 So Gekiga is one of the biggest Influence of Seinen manga and also make it popular? I mean since Golgo 13 is one of first/early success of Seinen manga (maybe also one of first/early success of Seinen manga that make Seinen manga popular) and also still the best selling Seinen manga of all time (2nd/3rd best-selling manga of all time)

I would say it's perfectly reasonable to say that Gekiga was the forerunner for commercial seinen manga. Hell, the original creator for Golgo 13, Takao Saito, was one of the eight original founders of the Gekiga movement who wrote the Gekiga manifesto. The first seinen magazine (as we define it today) is often considered to be Weekly Manga Action, which started publication in 1967. Golgo 13's magazine Big Comic also started around the same time with its first issue in 1968. And the series that ran in these magazines were pretty much just Gekiga targeting a more mainstream audience. So yeah, there is absolutely a line to be drawn between the gekiga movement and the emmergence of modern seinen manga, as well as josei manga (There was even an entire scene of gekiga magazines aimed at female readers starting in the late 60s. Might make a video on that topic sometime in the future)
