Great video. Very detailed. As for your brisket, you should smoke at 180 for about 8 hours. Remove and lather some type of tallow fat on top and wrap with butcher paper and bump the heat to 225-250 until meat hits a temperature of 203. Remove and let rest inside a small cooler. You will have one amazing brisket.

The temperature variation helps to produce more smoke.

The temp fluctuations are actually a good thing. Many of the new PID controllers do this to simulate offset stick burners. I’d suggest trying Knotty wood plum pellets you will love them. On your brisket you can get good results on cheap briskets just let it get to 183 to get a good set bark then wrap with either paper or the foil boat method. After it’s hit 201 start checking for prop tenderness. If it goes in like it’s a stick of room temp butter then you’re good to pull it. Let it rest at least 4 hours tightly wrapped with some beef tallow that’s warmed up. I like to let me briskets fall to 170 before wrapping to rest. If you wrap it with foil and then cover with a bunch of warm towels (I soak them in hot water in a cooler prior to putting the brisket in to temper the cooler) it will hold around 160 for that 4 hrs easy. Make sure to cut across the grain and you should have some very tender meat.

The asmoke 300 cover fits better than the one you recommended.

Excellent demo... do you have any estimate how long it will run at maybe 250°F on a single load of pellets?
@aaronstestlab Жыл бұрын
It honestly depends a ton on the weather. When the day time highs were in the 30's/40's it probably ran through pellets twice as fast as it does during the summer. That said, I just did an 8 hour smoke at 225 and had to refill once, but it was pretty hot out.

I’m wondering if they have improved the fluctuation on temps since then. It’s advertised as a PID controller and the reviews on their older model AS300 are terrible but hoping the 350 is an improvement

Nope! My temp swings are anywhere from 30 to 100 degrees at times. I’m not to worried about it because it does try and correct itself in a timely manner..

you did a great job on this.. to bad you have to open the lid to add pellets. not a fan of the grease trap out side with kids around and bees. my pit boss has bees around the drip bucket
@aaronstestlab Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I've never seen any interest from bees in mine.

Can you verify that it is not a PID controller? I had been led to believe it was. THanks for a great video
@aaronstestlab2 жыл бұрын
Hard to say with 100% certainty. That said, it's not advertised as such and does allow temps to fluctuate more than a PID would.

Wow I have quite a few of these ecoflows and other branded solar generators. I didn't think this was possible. My initial thought that these would take too much power because it has a heating element. Wow are they that efficient!?
@aaronstestlab7 ай бұрын
Most of the heat comes from pellet combustion. The Ecoflow just runs the low-draw electronics.

I'm wondering if they did away with the rod for moving the deflector into searing mode. I see it's not on yours.

It is not on mine. Was disappointed to notice that missing. That said, it’s still pretty easy to move the heat shield with a set of tongs or even a fork

@@sledhead904, I ended up purchasing the PIT BOSS PRO SERIES II PORTABLE 150 sold exclusively at Lowes. It HAS the slide rod, though I must say that after the first few cooks, the sliding plates seem to get glued together by cooking debris. The rod works, but not well.

What size was your power bank? Just wondering how many amps you used over the 4 hour period

A 500wh Ecoflow River. Don't remember exact numbers, but it was surprisingly low. Like maybe had 80% remaining after 4 hours.
