Hi friends! A man with a huge heart and a pure soul...

I’ve said this before . I exist because of this man . He’s saved my grandfather .

My mother was one of the 669 children. I owe my very existence to Nicholas Winton.

A man who did what had to be done and didn't brag about it around. Real man. Real hero.

The fact he didn't even tell his family let's me know he was very conscious of the danger of what he was doing. The less people who knew the better. Yet to keep such worry under wraps... such a brave and noble man.

The fact that he didn’t tell anyone about this shows he was never in it for the glory. He was just doing what was right.

"Passed away at the age of 106." Full of honor, full of years.

I’m disgusted that the world does not know about this man. So proud our Queen knighted this man for his unselfish accomplishments in life. I’m glad in England that we have a statue to honour his heroics acts. This is what you call a real hero, and a true humanitarian.

This man represents why they are referred to as the greatest generation. He stood and did what was right ignoring the consequences there far too few of these people left

Not only did he save 669 children, those children grew up to save others. His deeds will continue to save lives for generations.

That he chose to remain anonymous for his heroic acts is the greatest testimony of his character. Words alone cannot give him enough credits for what he had done.

To do the right thing: Save as many as you can, while you can, and never say a word about it; truly, is the utter definition of a hero!!! ❤❤❤

I can’t imagine sitting there, then realizing he’s surrounded by lives he saved. Couldn’t help but to tear up. I saved one life and it made me happy. This man saved hundreds. Man’s a true hero.

He spent his time, money, and even put his life on the line to save as many people he could and he did this without a shred of recognition. That, my friends, is the truest form of a hero.

Those parents that let go of their children are every bit as heroic as well.

I am nearly 58 now and never heard this story. It angers me that I had never heard of it. This should be mandatory learning in school. This man is THE EXAMPLE of the RAREST BREED of people to have existed in life. One who puts everything and everyone else ahead of themself NO MATTER WHAT THE COST IS. This man should be celebrated for his sacrifice, even a day on year named after him. He is the example we should all strive to be.

When his wife found the album , she probably whispered: 'Figures.' I suspect he was an excellent husband and father too. The appetites of a madman blunted by a humble man. Hats off Mr. Winton.

I am a physician and have a patient who is of German descent and was 12 years old during beginning of WWII. She tells a story of how her father was re-enlisted as an officer (in 1938) into the SS and he knew exactly what they were doing. He played along with them so he could try to help. He would memorize names at work of those Jews who were to be taken from their homes in the upcoming week or weeks. He would contact them and tell them they needed to leave immediately and only take 2 layers of clothing and what they could carry in 1 hand. She mentioned a few other officers were caught writing down names and were shot on site so he never wrote down anything. He organized with friends an underground network of businesses that would smuggle Jewish families out of Germany and did this throughout the war. One person who helped him was a friend who had a tobacco shop next door and a secret small room the men used to play poker in and smoke cigars. The room was behind the fireplace. He made it look more discreet and would put the families in hiding until the next underground station was ready. She states that he explicitly told them not to try to thank him or call or write to him as these would all be traced back and he would be killed and wouldn't be able to help anyone else. Her mother helped as she could by baking food for the Jews and others escaping. Her mother and father at the end of the war estimated he had saved over 500 families. He never told anyone and nobody ever wrote it down until I am doing it now. She said her father never wanted credit and he was doing 'God's work' in an 'Evil Time and Place'. She is still alive but slowing down a bit and the sweetest woman you can imagine. God Bless her and her father and all those who endured and were able to either help or were helped.

Wikipedia shows that, in 1940, Mr. Winton joined the RAF as an enlisted ‘Aircraftman’ which is the lowest possible rank. He served the entire war. A most humble gentleman.

He did all of that for those kids without wanting any kind of recognition. He actually even hid it from his family That’s pure Gods work.

This gentleman is the very definition of the word “hero”. Truely a gentleman of morals and compassion.

When atrocities occur, people will say "There's nothing I can do." There's ALWAYS something you can do.

I have an ex-boyfriend whose father was one of these children. Mr Winton was an angel on Earth.

This made me cry, we need more Nicholas Winton's in today's world, sadly.

After moving heaven and earth to save those children, he contentedly kept the knowledge of what he'd done to himself. Humility to match his courage.

Thats a hero 🙏

Not all heroes wear capes, some wear glasses and go unnoticed. An angel in disguise. RIP sir you have earned your rest.

Sadly today there seems to be a lack of such people. A truly amazing man who acted for all the right reasons.

I am in tears. What a wonderful story. And his reason for saving the children, "because it was the right thing to do.". Many blessings to this incredible man, his family and to the children he saved and those he couldn't save.

Sir Nicholas Winton was a great example of a person who stood up to evil and decided to do something about it. A truly remarkable man. He died aged 106 and is honoured with a statue in his memory. Rightly so. Sometimes the good guys do win.

I wonder how many of our children of today learn about this wonderful courageous man and what he did in our schools today???

I did not know the story of this heroic man. He saw the need and did something about it expecting nothing in return and silently giving his all. He gives you faith in humanity.

Sir Nicholas Winton Děkuji 🇨🇿. Thankfully, my Great Grandparents left Czechoslovakia in 1912 when my Grandfather was 5 years old for the United States. I cannot even imagine the horrors these families, especially these scared children went through. Sir Winton deserved every recognition he received. Sir Nicholas Winton lived in my birth town of Maidenhead for many years after this event. As a taxi driver, I would drive him occasionally and never connected him with these heroics. As well as a sculpture of him at Maidenhead railway station, there is now a memorial garden in a local park where one can read and learn of his exploits. Happily, his story will live on and inspire.

Even as I weep for the hundred thousands other little ones who never made it out alive, I rejoice for those who did, thanks to such selfless men and women.

He may have been elderly and frail at that time, but to those children he saved (and their families), he was, and likely still is, a knight in shining armor. Much respect to this gentleman for all that he did.

Mother of my teacher was one of Winton's children. She told us her story once. Amazing man who saved many. The teacher I had was one of the most well composed people I ever met, teaching us a lot about life and how to live it to the fullest. Wouldn't have this teacher without Winton.

Thank God for men like this!!! Just think of what he accomplished by saving those children---families of the future---so amazing!!! Wonderful that he received the honor of see the children he had rescued!!!! God certainly had a hand in this!!!!

He has more courage than most people

Nicholas Winton wanted his role to be anonymous. I expect he felt great sadness that he could not save all the children. I wonder how he felt when his wife shared the story of his heroism. The foster families also deserve recognition. It was no small gesture to accept responsibility for a child, when resources were so limited. Goodness needs to be celebrated.

This is what you call a righteous and humble man!!! My deepest respect and gratitude to this man for saving so many!!! My deepest respect to his lovely wife!!! This lady has shown the whole world how we should all behave!!!

It is easy to lose faith in humankind until a man like this comes along. He exemplifies everything good that stands as a beacon for us lesser souls to follow. One of the greatest man I came to know from this video , Not taught in any books , not glorified , but he simply did his work . For me he is a one great human being who ever walked on the face of Earth , saved life of millions not caring for his own life , yet not tking any crdit or limelight for it . this is how a great man should be.
