Thank you, you have helped me clean up my work Flo from running in garage band. I even imported all my garage band projects and rearranged them to look more professional. I have even started running a bus for every track and closing effects that I don’t need. I even am doing the drum separation that one famous producer performs by sending drums to bus 1 & 2 and then pan bus1 10 to the left and pan buss2 +10 to the right, which sounds nice and modern like many hit songs.

Great to hear that! Yeah - There are a bunch of drum tricks to make them really glued to the track. *TIP* One great drum tip is to send the drums (from the tracks) to an Auxiliary (I use my multi-purposed Side Chain Aux's) and on that Side Chain, add a compressor with a smashing setting - like over-compressed. Then bring your Side Chain fader down to zero, and start moving it up until you hear that 'glue' effect. This technique also works for acoustic guitars, bass and anything that doesn't quite feel married to your mix. Thanks for your feedback!

Great video series! Why is it important to get rid of read automation when you are seeing the environment up?
@GGabrielMusic
@GGabrielMusic 7 ай бұрын
Thanks! It is more of a house keeping thing and a preventative measure. Read Automation will be ready to use it on the track/bus/aux/out levels - but I don't want it activated until I am ready to use it. While 'Read mode' may not transfer over from the Environment to the main screens, I want to ensure that it is only activated when I want it to be activated. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for your comment!!

6:23 Hi George. Help needed. Thank you for your informative videos. Trying to set the MIDI channel ins for the 8 strips for inst 49 but the environment inspector only has MIDI Channel option. No midi In or midi out options showing. Do you know how I can get these to show or is there another way of setting the midi in channels? Using Logic Pro X 10.5.1

Check out part 7 - I made a correction on the multi-timbral instruments. I have been using Logic so long, I forgot the simplified it a few years back. Reach out to me if you're still having issues.

In this part of the series you didn’t save the autoload at the end so I’m a bit confused by this part; are you saving as a template? A session you reopen? Or something else? Thx
@GGabrielMusic
@GGabrielMusic 7 ай бұрын
It’s not saved as a template for me, I just save it as a session and put that session in my dock - when I start a new project, I open up the AutoLoad and immediately do a save as whatever my project is.

Terrific, I so look forward to it. I am learning so much from your videos. I appreciate the time you put into responding to our questions, and sharing your vast experience in these series. The video making process is extremely (in my experience) time consuming. You are making this so understandable and doable, after reading the manual, watching so many KZfaq videos, etc. (And I even used to live near Paramus, by the way.) Your enthusiasm is inspiring.

You've made my night! I am very thankful that these are being so well received - my intent is to really allow people to not be bogged down by the technical stuff and just be creative. Creating music is such a wonderful thing and when it can be done unencumbered, it is that much more fulfilling! Side note: I grew up in Northern Jersey (Ramsey) - I miss the East Coast food.... It's the real deal! Anyway - the rest of the videos in this series will be out before the end of the week. Thanks so much for the dialog!

Hi again... another question - Can you give some examples of how to use Multi-Timbral Instruments using the set-up you provide. I'm so curious. Thanks.

Yes, you will see how they work in the 7th video in the series. They all should be released by Friday.

I am assuming for songs that are already recorded going thru this process may not be a good idea? Instead, use it for new songs?
@GGabrielMusic
@GGabrielMusic 7 ай бұрын
Well, that depends on just how much work you want to do to deconstruct your songs - but generally speaking, yes - you start from here, this is not necessarily a retroactive thing. Thanks for your question!

Hi. I have a question. In the Environment window, because of the option dragging the way you showed. Multi 2-2, 2-3, etc... 3-2, 3-2, etc... are all still set to Instrument 49. Is this a problem? Is there a way to change that? Thanks man! So psyched to learn the behind the scenes stuff in logic.
@jselengut

I figured out how to change it so I did. Not sure why though... but my intuition is telling me it is needed.
@GGabrielMusic

Yes - there should be 8 of Instrument 49, eight of 50, eight of 51 and eight of 52. Those eight of each instrument should be assigned to midi channels 1 - 8 respectively. Hope this makes sense. If not, let me know and I'll further explain. Thanks for reaching out!!
