@@ohio Tf do you mean not that big of a risk? Casting RDJ is a risk on its own, he isn't a crowd favorite, and had career issues. Jon Favreau is also a risk as actions are new for him (like what this featurette said). Using Iron Man to kickstart the MCU is BIG risk as it is not a well-known Marvel character to the general public (listen how they are struggling to find writers for it). The irony that you use Batman and Spider-man as an example when we all fckn know that people will eat those movies whoever the fck act and direct it, because they are characters that are already there at the pedestal. They will be a sure hit and directors, writers, actors are lining up on them because they are simply Batman and Spider-man. This whole fckn featurette explained to you how they struggle in parts specially on choosing who will kickstart the Marvel Universe. The character, the actor, the director, the studio, the writers are all on a verge of risk, not knowing if the people would bite the movie they will do. IT IS SO FCKN DIFFERENT THAN BATMAN AND SPIDER-MAN MOVIES. SOOOOO DIFFERENT. Iron Man is a major major major risk, not even comparable to other characters that have well established image on the GP, that when they are made to movies, they will surely be a hit given a decent team. It is so different with Iron Man. If you can't give a successful superhero movie without the most popular GP favorite characters. Then shut up.

Wow... there's a comment that couldn't be more wrong. You think acting is about what you look like? You think RDJ is a great Iron Man because he has brown hair and a beard? Reynolds is an amazing Deadpool because of his comedic timing, style of humor AND his physicality combine to embody the character. Wearing the mask takes *nothing* away from his performance.

@@Linerunner99 Dude, who the hell is mentioning appearances? You certainly didn't hear that from me. Your thoughts on what you think I said are racing faster than what you read. The thing is that is Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame he was actually using a prop in his chest and the rest was cgi, and in Iron Man 2 the final fight his suit is all cgi, and the suit looks better in this one. The problem is that the vfx artist don't have enough time to make look the suits better, in comparison to other movies in wich they hasn't have so much presure or other characters to focus on.

@@michaelbandada9887 - Although I LOVED Hugh Jackman's work as Wolverine, he is 6'2" (some sources say 6'3"), while the comic book version (i.e. the original version) of Wolverine is nearly a foot shorter (5'3"). That said, I've often wondered if the casting department initially considered casting an actor who is close to Wolverine's comic book height, and if so, what well-known actor(s) would've been on their list. Who could come close to fitting that physical description (restriction?)... Tom Cruise perhaps? Of course nowadays it's nearly impossible to imagine anyone else playing the role of Wolverine, ESPECIALLY as well as Hugh Jackman did, but it's fun to think about. Which actor(s) do you think could do well in the role who is also "vertically challenged"? I'd love to hear your input. Cheers!

Reading the comics, I always thought that the tragedy of Tony Stark is that he’s trapped in a suit that isolates him - even as it gives him great power, it’s also literally the only thing keeping him alive. What RDJ added to this was the idea of a man isolated by his high intellect and inner demons, much more than by his Iron Man persona. A much more interesting character, and a very difficult one to play!

I know they were referring to something different, but I wouldn’t use the phrase “self made man” when talking about Stark. Yes, he did define himself, change his path, and reshape his own destiny, however, usually that phrase refers to financial standing of which, I’m just going to say as far as the movies go, Tony Stark is not. It’s like calling Trump a self made man when he started out already a millionaire. Sure he makes (and loses) his own money as well, but the way in which he did it is NOT available to the Everyman in the same way it is to someone with millions to invest if and when they see the opportunities. I would’ve loved to invest a million in BitCoin when the Silk Road was growing traffic, unfortunately like most others who noticed that increase in value, I didn’t have millions in capital to do so... but if someone did 👍
