BREAKING NEWS: STARMER SCRAPPED THE RWANDA POLICY ON FRIDAY EVENING!!!!
The first Truth To Power video under a Labour government. I’m sure you’ve watched and listened to endless stuff about how the election played out, so in this video, I’ll instead be giving a quick send off to the Tories with a summary of their 14 years of misrule, and a quick welcome to the Labour government with suggestions for their priorities for their first few months in office.
I appreciate all of you who share my videos with friends and social media. Together, let's help bring this extreme right wing government to an end.
Unlike those weird new right wing TV "news" channels and ultra right wing "think tanks" that are always on mainstream telly, Truth To Power receives no hidden funding. Or any funding, come to that, except KZfaq partner programme advertising revenue, and KZfaq $uperthanks donations from viewers.
As well as sharing the videos on social media and with your friends, hitting the Like button and subscribing to the channel is also really helpful, as it tells KZfaq to offer these videos to a wider audience.

Reverse academisation, take schools back under local authority control, scrap SATs and the pressurised, exam-focused curriculum, and denounce the authoritarianism and behaviourism that has taken over schools, where egotistical heads regard forcing 11 year olds to dress up like extras from Hogwarts and swelter in inappropriate clothing to be more important than allowing our children, particularly those with SEND, to flourish as individuals and develop into compassionate and openminded adults. Adolescent mental health is in crisis and the role of strict academies, which place more importance on nonsensical rules for their own sake and disproportionate penalties for pupils and parents alike, than the wellbeing of our next generation, are a major cause of this. Great to hear you are continuing your channel and look forward to your analysis of Labour's performance. We all know it's not going to be easy for them, having to fix the country yet again after the Tories break everything in order to transfer wealth to the already rich. I think the majority of people are getting sick of this cycle of, things being better under Labour, only for it to be destroyed under the Tories. They should never be allowed to govern again. We need proportional representation.

PR would open the door to Reform, a party of actual Nazis that would make the Tories diet version of the last 14 years look like the Attlee govt by comparison. I hate FPTP but we simply can't risk PR with anti-'woke' rhetoric now so mainstream. And I say that as a member of the Green Party.

Good to know the channel is going to continue Rob. This is a polished and professional channel with well reasoned and presented content that does just what it says in the tin. Despite the change in govt. and the sense that whatever happens they cannot do any worse than the outgoing one, I still think this will be needed - sadly. Thank you for all your efforts.

If your kitchen is on fire, you want the flames extinguished thoroughly and quickly before the damage spreads to the rest of your house. You can be concerned with the water damage later. We are at that stage right now. Labour are in the unenviable position of sorting out the deliberate damage created by the Tory arsonists over the past 14 years. Will they get everything done or everything right? Probably not. Certainly not in one parliament. However, a mediocre Labour government cannot be any worse than the very best performance under the Tories.

And the biggest part of the Marshall Plan and on top of that the Anglo-American Loan. The Anglo-American Loan Agreement was a loan made to the United Kingdom by the United States on 15 July 1946, enabling its economy after the Second World War to keep afloat. The loan was negotiated by British economist John Maynard Keynes and American diplomat William L. Clayton. Problems arose on the American side, with many in Congress reluctant, and with sharp differences between the treasury and state departments. The loan was for US$3.75 billion (equivalent to $58.59 billion in 2023) at a low 2% interest rate; Canada loaned an additional US$1.9 billion (equivalent to $29.69 billion in 2023). The British economy in 1947 was hurt by a provision that called for convertibility into dollars of the wartime sterling balances the British had borrowed from India and others, but by 1948, the Marshall Plan included financial support that was not expected to be repaid. The entire loan was paid off in 2006, after it was extended six years.

Protections for disability benefit claimants, strengthen disabled rights, more money into the NHS, mental health to be recognised as equal in importance as physical health and funding of mental health services at the correct proportion of the NHS budget according to its burden on the NHS. Getting Big Money out of politics (including the freebies that MPs get). Electoral reform. Tackling tax avoidance and tax evasion. Giving workers a proper Living Wage (even if the Living Wage is proportional to the cost of living in the local area rather than a National Living Wage). Increasing taxes on unearned income. Tackling corruption in politics (including legal cases against the most severe cases of corruption with fines and/or prison terms and a lifetime ban from holding public office on the table as punishment). Strengthening Human Rights and the Rights of persecuted minorities. Renationalising key industries. Abolishing student fees. Repairing the UK’s reputation on the subject of upholding International Law by prosecuting Tony Blair and those who supported the illegal Iraq War, banning arms sales to Israel, supporting any legal action against Israel if it is found to be committing genocide and actioning any arrest warrants issued against any individuals in regards to the Israel/Hamas War.

Britain is now in such a poor state, it would take a generation to repair. The wealth that has been lost due to Tory asset stripping and the massive rise in national debt, the best the British can hope for is damage limitation in the next few parliamentary terms. I would suggest Labour drop their "make Brexit work" fantasy. Until then, I'm taking my life savings and getting out, son has already gone. Might as well get used to the reality if you're staying put in Brexit Britain where companies are no longer investing. The wish list sounds like desperation, sorry to say, but you cannot take a wrecking ball to your economy and there be no long lasting consequences. The embarrasing debacle of the British people voting for 'Blame the Scapegoat' parties suggests that there is little hope for this failed state.

It's a great start off by Keir appointing a science expert for science & an expert from prison Reform as prison's Minister & an independent legal expert for the Minister of Law as an overseer of Labour staying within the law. That means Labour cannot step outside of International Law as for example Gaza or Israel. Other good things too numerous to mention.

In US Elon Musk apparently pays no taxes as he has no income, he lives off loans taken out against the value of his companies. This allows him to also claim what I think is tax relief on his loan repayments! (Elon actually explained how he did it in an interview) Is this a massive tax loophole used by the ultra wealthy to avoid taxes in UK too? If so how much tax is this country missing out on and what public services could be provided if the loophole was plugged?

There are more food banks in Britain than there are branches of McDonalds, but at least you stand a chance of getting healthier food from a food bank. The worrying thing is that Labour only have five years to show real improvement that people can actually SEE, otherwise we might get Reform in power and then it's game over, baby.

Government priorities should always start with education and health. Begin by paying teachers, doctors and nurses a decent wage. Then turn to utilities, for services we all use such as water, energy, banking and internet, set-up at least one not-for-profit provider in each sector fully owned by the UK public. As for the economy, introduce redistribution of wealth measures by applying fairer taxation on the very rich and raising the lower tax threshold for the poor. Each of these could be initiated right now.
