The conservatives recently in government need to be held accountable for misuse of public funds. And by accountable I mean in jail.

7:23 If I hear the words "value for money" one more time... If one wants better roads, the simplest method is to have roads being used less. How does a govt do that? Make mass transit more accessible, more extensive and cheaper. People will take a train if it's more convenient than sitting in a traffic jam. Gosh... it's almost as if a high speed rail plan would be a vital first step....

Steady...the government owned energy company is, I believe, an investment vehicle for big businesses, and according to the FT, private health companies were getting excited about doing business with Wes Streeting, so things may be far less rosy than they seem! You may be right, perhaps we should give Starmer's Labour a chance, but I'm not going to hold my breath! And like you I'm disappointed about so many things they don't seem to care about.

This is the first time, in I don't know how long, that I've heard anything from the National Audit Office. I've heard "of them" but never "from them". I'm guessing that maybe they publish "their findings" more frequently than I've come across them. So why are their findings not front page news? It's a little bit odd, in my world, that this report is available now, at around the time Reeves is due to make her (lying) £20billlion "black hole speech". Surely this information was available at election time. Again, why was it not front page news. Or is it something that has recently been created to refute the words of the IFS and OBR that the (lying) Labour claim that they were "shocked" at the state of the nations finances were "not credible" as the information is a matter of public record (google it).

Please don't forget that labour gave the banks 1.3 trillion of taxpayers money which never came back to us, labour sold us out in the 1st place, the tories took control without any money, the world economic forum controls the uk, kier starmar is a member of that forum, that forum is responsible for covid and the transfer of wealth, Tony Blair has been pulling string behind the scenes, the goverment is like using a double headed coin in a coin toss

I actually felt emotional when I voted this time for the first time in 40 years of voting. Just you listing their achievements and promises from the labour government in 3 weeks has made my day, week and year. Thank you! I started working in the 80s with thatcher so I’ve witnessed the scandalous and carnal regimes of too many Tory governments. Im optimistically wishing for a glorious finale when I retire with Starmer.

We have to find the money and boost the NHS. This isn't dogma but investment. Take a walk down the high street and look at the working age people on crutches or obviously in pain. These are workers who don't want to be in pain, and would prefer to be at work, but can't due to stupid things like waiting for knee and hip ops, or even bunions to be removed. Bloody stupid, national self harm, courtesy of Tory idiots more interested in being cruel rather than managing natiinal productivity.

Labour may have to go to the polls again, in the short-term, as their agreement to stick by those fiscal rules, though reminiscent of 1997, makes no sense given the dire state of the country. The however, is that Labour's general promise is not to increase taxes for 'working people'. Hence, capital gains, inheritance tax (IT general) and IT regarding pensions are fair game if they frame it right. By far the worse though is the state of local government with many councils close to bankruptcy/insolvency. Here Labour could use the Tory ruse in reverse by removing the need for a referendum if the tax increase is above 3 per cent, 5 per cent with adult social care. Up ten per cent increases will occur if so. Labour appear as short-sighted as the Conservatives in applying what is best for the country. On two counts they must be applauded, GB Energy and the skills initiative. The however, is that the mess is very extensive. And the Conservatives have laid bombs in the financials promising to cut NI with non existent money. The way all of the most stupid Tories want to lead the party now: Cleverly, Jenrick, Braverman, Patel and Badenoch, makes me believe they suspect Labour will have to call a snap election after one or two years.

There is always a shortage of money in public sector departments yet theses are the things we have to pay into, and have no choice ,funny that! Well in my working career I have had dealings with most public services councils police and the Civil Service ,who all seem very good at massaging pensions and wasting money but not good at working to a budget like we have to in outside businesses where if not sufficient money is available you don't survive Also very large companies seem very good at avoiding tax by sponsoring things like Formula One, the World Rally Championship and Cycling and other activities If tax was paid at an acceptable level before these were allowed for you might find there would be a lot more money available as many now seem to be doing it These are my findings through a lot of years of working and these are only some aspects. Some people probably won't agree and I accept that and the people in charge probably won't listen but as an old college of mine once said, If you don't realise what some of the problem are you don't stand much chance of ever putting them wrightGood luck it won't be easy!

There's a lingering nostalgia for Britain's past "greatness" that hinders progress and realistic policy-making in a changed world. UK's highly partisan media landscape distorts public understanding of complex issues, making it harder to build consensus for necessary changes. Added to that, Partisan politics often trumps pragmatic problem-solving, with good ideas rejected simply because they come from the "wrong" party. The UK's current issues are the result of decades of systemic failures, chronic underinvestment, short-term political thinking, entrenched class divides, and bureaucratic inertia. These problems have been compounded by misguided privatizations, an education system that hasn't kept pace with modern needs, and the divisive fallout from Brexit. It's a complex web of long-standing issues that transcend any single government or political party. These issues aren't just the fault of the Tories or Labour or any single party - they're the result of a political and social system that's been failing to adapt and evolve for a long time. The NAO findings are just scratching the surface of much deeper, long-standing problems that will require significant political will and public engagement to address. The UK's current state is the result of decades of systemic failures, short-sighted policies, and a political class that's often more concerned with staying in power than actually solving problems. Many of the UK's current challenges have their roots in decisions and policies implemented as far back as the post-war period or even earlier.

One of the first things that needs to be done if Labour are going to get the UK back on its feet is media reform, so the UKs MSM is no longer the propaganda arm of the Conservative Party perpetually misrepresenting and lying about other Partys aims and policies.

Same old, same old. The German Tory party (CDU) is blaming our Government for the shortcomings they themselves created during their reign of 16 years. Still, as far as I can see, the CDU (which I'm no fan of) is much better in many aspects than the British Tories - for whatever that's worth.

If Labour don't invest in public services, sort out the nhs, education, housing, rail, roads, water, etc, they'll be out in five, leaving the door open to a tory/reform hegemony. Then we'll really be fecked. Unfortunately, I don't see this iteration of Labour having the intestinal fortitude to do what needs to be done, i.e, renationalisation of what should be our necessary services
