I love it when they do that too, and it usually makes it easier and more comfortable for babies to nurse too. Babies look so cozy and protected nestled up in their moms.

Hahaha yes, but Dopey never took milk bar closure lying down, he'd also have a devilish look on his face as he hatched his next plan to defeat mom's defenses. I always loved seeing that twinkle in Dopey's eyes. What a little rascal he was. 😂

Agreed, and what a wonderful surprise. It was so hard to see babies Kailey and Teeny's treatment last year and I was dreading a repeat this year. But between Gypsy's miraculous turnaround and Tina skipping a year, it's been a blissful baby season. No abused babies, just lots and lots and lots of adorable, thriving cuties. We'll never know if Gypsy's much improved maternal behavior is a result of food abundance, losing Kailey, or some mixture of both. I think food played a signifiant role though, which was an indirect result of Covid. Regardless of the reasons I think we can all agree that Gypsy and all the safe, happy babies are some of the few bright lights in an otherwise dim 2020.

There are several indications about rank and here are some I know. They eat in order of rank so the matriarch and alpha male will always eat first and depending on the amount of food available other high rankers usually eat with them. Lower ranked will not eat after them and if there's not enough food for all, the lowest ranked will not get anything. Another way of telling rank is by their distances from each other. The highest ranked will position themselves wherever they choose, usually in a prime location (shaded if it's hot, somewhere they have a good view to overlook things, top of the picnic table is considered good place, etc). Then pay attention to where others are positioned relative to the alphas. Those close in proximity will be high ranking and those furthest away will be lowest ranking. When the troop is gathered in an area, those out on the perimeter are low ranking. You can also tell rank by their behaviors towards each other. Lower ranking will show signs of deference to higher ranking. Higher ranking may hassle lower ranking. High ranking moms don't like their babies playing with low ranking babies. When one mounts another (excluding mating), it's not sexual but it does indicate dominance with the mounter higher ranked than the mounted. I'm sure I'm not covering everything but hopefully this helps. I've learned so much from Arroz videos and people in the comments. If you're fairly new here, in addition to watching the new videos that come out, I recommend watching The Wonder Years series (he's just started season 2, I'm suggesting start with the original series. There should be a playlist, find episode 1 and watch them in order. You'll learn a ton and probably get hooked on this channel if you aren't already. 😀

No body knows ! I am afraid. But I think Gypsy, Tabby, Aggy, Granny, Mary belongs to the same clan while Dolly, Reddy, Lizzy, Lucy and Lancy belongs to another. Of course there's the Royal family too !

She did lose two babies in a row before Dopey. Arroz figured this out a few years ago and covered it in a video. He began filming regularly with the 2016 baby season, but he had filmed some in years prior. If I remember correctly, he was away from Hong Kong for a few years (not sure if he lived somewhere else or just traveling a lot or something) so no filming during that time. Anyway, sometime after he started filming regularly and naming monkeys he was looking back at old footage and recognized Reddy. He saw her two years in a row with babies that were gone by the time Dopey was born. I don't remember exactly when he did the video about this, guessing 2017 or 2018 (could be 2019) but the video is probably titled in a way that indicates Reddy lost the babies. He shows the old footage of Reddy, definitely worth a watch if you're interested. You are quite insightful to deduce she lost babies before Dopey!

I don’t blame Rudy, she deserves plenty of potatoes and credits ....dedicated foster mom to all gypsy kids , of course a thankless job but she did more than their own mom , a cold breeder...glad kailey got loved attention in her poor short life.

I would guess she's close related with Tabby possible Sally but on the other hand all of them are related in one way or another but I would like to know to which matrilineal she belongs to. Actually I would like to know how many or few matrilineage there are in Bossy's troop. Arroz Marisco might know or have a guess about it. Could be one with "branches". 🤓🏴‍☠️🇸🇪

Some they sterilized didn't work. They must've been trying something different for awhile. There's a few of them. I feel so sad for the ones who can't experience having their own while seeing all the other mothers with babies. Gypsy has many children.

@@RejParent Absolutely not & I'm confused how you even thought me saying, thankfully all their sterilizations didn't work & Gypsy has many other children as proof isn't what I implied. I think they tried a different way to sterilize & it didn't work, thankfully. I've adored her & many for close to a decade. I feel so sad for the ones sterilized. The ORIGINAL question was, "Does Gypsy have a tattoo after just having Kody"? I made this very detailed for you to understand what I implied.
