How in the hell are you going take a physical test for something that demanding and you're not ready. Not like it was a demanding test.............wow.

The recruitment for NMSP is a breeze and the recruiters are so nice. For CHP well PT is a little tougher and well the recruiters treat you like your in the academy already while your in the PT and testing phase so you have an idea how it’ll be in the academy.

Hiw does a junior officer with three years of service qualify to be a recruiter?

Its funny as the process goes on you can see the quality of the people get better.....when they started with the PT test there were a lot of shit bags that later got dropped as the process goes along...

This was in the 70s.A cop in Bloomfield needed me to leave some building materials, one of rent houses needed a little work.Ever time I'd see a cop in NM, I'd think must not pay much, having to supplement their income I suppose.

The PT is to easy!! In my High school in Poland you have to do at least 30 pushups in one minute and 20 crunches in 30 seconds to even get a positive mark from P.E

Question regarding prior drug use: now this was over 5 years ago, I tried LSD and it is what it is, but then I found you will have a hard time becoming a police officer if you've done that drug. And I was wondering if there is any hope for me. Thanks

New Mexico has a very "interesting" cadet selection process. I'm guessing there's no civil service testing procedure or subsequent eligibility hiring list for prospective State Police Academy cadets. It's seems almost informal, kind of like..."Come on down and take the test and let us know how soon you can start".

Those are some very low PT standards. I have to do double those numbers in the Air Force for pushups and sit-ups. Our 1.5 mi run max time is 13:36.

Wtf here in Illinois you need to do 37 sit-ups in under a minute, 1.5 mile under 13.47, flexibility test and bench press 98% of your body weight. This seems a lot easier 🤣🤣

Tyrants in training

I lived in New Mexico for several years in the late 70's. At that point it was my 3rd state of residency. When I first saw a New Mexico State Police officer I could not believe the uniform. I thought it to be very old in appearance, something that did not make a good impression on me. Lots of the New Mexico state government as well as county governments in the state did not impress me at all. My job involved interacting with several state agencies and with a couple of counties. To say they were behind the times is the best thing I can say about them. After being there a couple of years I found out that the NMSP uniform has not changed since 1938 plus or minus a year or two. I continued to think the agency was backwards. About the time I left the old guard took some hits, I think women were suing as a result of discrimination. The settlement of the suit was not pleasant for their leadership and the court did not have good things to say about the agency. Among the courts statements was a comment about the agency being behind the times. I found out that the NMSP considers wearing this old uniform is a large source of pride and you hit a sensitive trigger when you criticize it. I think pride is great, but the uniform projects the wrong image.

I want to meet this Officer Vigil because my last name is Vigil and after doing an Ancestry DNA test found out I have a lot of family in the land of enchantment state. Also, I want to found out if most Vigils from New Mexico are Native American because I had no clue that I was until this test. Thank you. loved the video as well because I'm out here in California but originally from Utah trying to become a police officer as well.
