I first watched Kiki's delivery service a few years ago, and it way one of the first ghibli movies I'd watched. Though I love the movie -- the soundtrack is by far my favorite of any movie, and arguably my favorite of any similar musical work -- I had felt like the ending was cheap and didn't really conclude the story in a meaningful way. It feels like it's building this heavy, melancholic feeling, and then suddenly drops that entirely at the end. After watching this I feel I may have misinterpreted it. In fact, this video has given me such an appreciation of the film that it may very well be my second favorite ghibli movie. It's nothing more than a tragedy that this video has so few views.

Great video Shay! I never really thought deeply about why Gigi loses his voice, but your interpretation makes total sense to me. Kiki was never one of my favorite Ghibli movies, but it still has that Miyazaki charm that's hard to resist. You should make a top 10 list of your favorite ghibli movies for a future video!

Rewatching it my only issue it that it just kinda ends abruptly. I have heard many of his films are slice of life and you get to see that piece of the pie. He just does such a good job of bring into his worlds it would be good to leave with a resolution. I think they is why Spirited Away is the best critically.

Tales of Earthsea is a solid 70 in a field of movies that score in 90s, so yeah it would look worse than it does.
