Thank you for sharing such a positive memory. I found The Band when I was 16. Only 20 years ago and it bugs me I wasn't around to be able to appreciate them at the time. Rick is my perfect guy ;) think Levon is awesome, Richard has the most soulful voice ever and Garth is a bloody genius! Xx

I will always love the music of The Band. It was great seeing Rick, Levon and Garth still looking good and sounding good into their 50's. A nice crowd here commenting on the video. I share their enthusiasm. AND the rest of the backup band Richard Bell on keyboards, Jim Weider on guitars, and Randy Ciarlante on the drums and vocals did an amazing job too. I give them a lot of credit for their musical talents. All in all it was a wonderful show to see! I am glad I watched and gratefu that this video exists. Thank you.

Rick was such a great fellow. years ago he had a car wreck and wandered around hopurs before being found they found his neck was broke but no permanent injury....levon also a loss that can't be replaced..

Not sure Rick wandered around for hours, no permanent injury, but left him in pain for pretty much the rest of his life, which I think contributed to his addiction to heroin.

Difficult not to like these guys - their groove, style and sound is just terrific. A friend of mine tried to introduce me to The Band bakc in the 90s, but it was not until I some years later looked up The Last Waltz on youtube, that I was completely sold. And have been since. As a kid (I'm from 66) I worked hours in a discotheque of a radiostadion and can vaguely recall some of the older guys mentioning The Last Walts - so it was there stored somewhere in the back of my mind. Still haven't figuered out the drama between I guess especialle Levon and Robbie. But it beats me, that Robbie apparently took off with all the royalties. Even though he's of course credited for the most known songs. There may be some kind of explanation that we don't know. According to Robbie in some interview he and Levon were reconcield before his passing. Well anyways, fantastic music and personal characters.

Won't get into it, but was good friends with Rick and Levon and with them passed, Robbie can say anything he likes. Wouldn't believe a word of it! Knew Levon too well to ever think and know he would reconcile with Robbie
@zippymufo9765
@zippymufo9765 Жыл бұрын
From the way Robertson told the story, Levon was already in a coma when he visited the hospital and "held his hand". Nothing about a reconciliation, only Levon's family allowing him to say goodbye.

Love Levon and nephew Randy playing off each other--and who says two drummers in a band doesn't work?
@robertbruce6865
@robertbruce6865 2 жыл бұрын
Randy is a hell of a drummer, only slightly overshadowed by a legend here. Good singer, too. He was an excellent addition to The Band. I hope he’s doing well these days! I always thought that Randy, Jim, and Richard Bell did a splendid job of supporting the others. Had the pleasure of seeing them in Chicago in April of 94...wished that I’d seen the “original” Band as well (Richard Manuel is my all time favorite male vocalist)...but loved that show!

Saw The Band in Chicago in April of 96, and sat about 10 yards away from Garth. As a self taught keyboardist, I often joke that I’d give my right arm to have a tenth of Hudson’s talent.

Yeah, there are quite a few 1994 shows of them on youtube, his energy is usually higher and sings them with more power, he's really slow here, especially on their version of Atlantic City, compare that to the Letterman performace the same year, very different.

I think they could All fill-in for the other one (& has before in the early days)! These are multi- instrumentalists! It's all about math time, counting, keeping time, fractions and division. Instrumentalists‽ Ha! Gimme one! Any of these'll do fine!

If rr hadn't stolen rights and broke up the group ('it's a bitta promotion and when we come back, it'll be better than ever'), Richard would've been there & there'd be only 5 BAND MATES doing it as they are in our eyes. Rick's talking about the time recording the RFA LP (s) with Jonas Fjeld, Eric Andersen & playing the extended circuit that trio played in promoting the first LP (& maybe for One More Shot's live show on cd2-?). If new to you, get some. Think about Birthdays and Holidays and loved ones, bosses, drug, drink, hanging out pals. This is about the best they were after Richard took rrs thievery personally & as one should. Never sign legal papers until your own guy's gone over them and for the record, so to speak, as your legal rep- with responsibility for what they're doing, saying, suggesting as your legal Rep. [>> Bless & RIP: Richard, Rick, Levon {& I presume} John Simon as well as the great Bobby Charles for having written (or cowritten..... if it's true-. , ,, ,:( Rick Danko- 'Small Town Talk') ahh BLESS'M ALL !!
