WOW! My daughter's favorite song is played twice here. When she saw "The Music Man" as a child, she wanted to be in a marching band someday. She played the baritone, euphonium, trombone, tuba, and piano in various high school bands. She began marching in the 5th grade through high school (becoming drum major too!) What a thrill for us to see her on the field with The Marching Hundreds at Indiana University! Such an emotional experience. We are both watching today, and will enjoy The 2023 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with the Band Directors Maching Band! Thank you so much to all the Music Educators! You are Top of The Class!!!

Saw them yesterday in the parade and had no idea they existed. Then to play what I consider is the best musical theme song written, 76 Trombones. Very impressive. When they passed in review here they could have been in competition. Great just great.

Music 213, these band directors are awesome and inspirational! They clearly know their craft - teaching, learning and performing. I would be proud to be one of their students! 🎶

The greatest accomplishment was controlling 289 huge egos. I mean, think about it. When is the last time you heard a band Director say, “oh I’m sorry, it was my fault” ???? 😂 (and I say that as a former band director!!!). Jon Waters did a phenomenal job with this group!
@jauch02 жыл бұрын
Some egos are larger than others. It all starts with getting as many students, parents and other community members as you can to believe that you can walk on water. Coming home with any kind of trophy from anywhere helps in this regard. After a few years of being worshipped and glorified, you start to believe your own publicity. Then, one day, your head gets too big to fit through the band room door. Everyone needs to constantly observe what bands at other schools are doing. If your group is the best in the area, set your sights further afield. We all need to be reminded that there are other people equally capable of doing what we have accomplished. We just got there first.

i wish the superbowl haltime show would go back to marching bands (more creative music) from around the US and world. this is talent instead of that lipsynching mess.

Look at all those Sousaphones! This band has more bottom than Kim Kardashian and Niki Minaj combined! Kudos to all who participated, and the tempi were not in an arthritic two!

This is great!! I live about 30 miles south of Pasadena and it was sunny for me. Good thing it was clear for the Rose Parade 🌹 I absolutely loved the float from Nawlins, Louisiana.

Where'd y'all find so many silver trombones?!?!
@cindywarnerKAC05072 жыл бұрын
There are all kinds of silver horns; trumpets, trombones, baritones, tubas, sousaphones, french horns, mellophones.
@matthewsaxman10282 жыл бұрын
@@cindywarnerKAC0507 Right. But of all those, silver trombones are comparatively, for whatever reason.

@@matthewsaxman1028 I believe your message was not quite complete. Can you repeat it for me please?
@matthewsaxman10282 жыл бұрын
@@cindywarnerKAC0507 Rephrased - it is very rare to see so many silver trombones in one place at one time. Lacquered brass trombones are by far the more common, with a much higher percentage than for the other instrument in the brass family.
@cindywarnerKAC05072 жыл бұрын
@@matthewsaxman1028 I marched in DCI. All of ours horns in Drum and Bugle Corps were and are still silver, chrome plated and lacquered. There at least 3 or 4 horn makers that manufacture silver colored trumpets and trombones. Especially now that DCI allows trombones and sousaphones on the field for competition.

It'd be fun if they did a scatter formation and ended up someplace new.

It quit upsets me to find out there are only 2 EUPHONIUMS. Why is there never euphs, bro seriously.
@bonnie95117 ай бұрын
Euphoniums are concert band instruments. They become baritones in the marching band.
@assassin15417 ай бұрын
Nope, I march a Marching Euphoinum and concert Euphonium. Now you correct on the Baritone, but there are both a concer Euphonium and Baritone aswell as marching Euphoniums and Baritones. Also to note, a marching Euphoium weighs about 8 pounds while a marching bariton weighs 6 pounds give or take.@@bonnie9511
