Excellent presentation Pastor Jack. Too many people want to make tongues the focus, and you made it clear that it's about the power of God ON US to perform His purposes in the world. Who would not want that?? Thank you for talking about this.

The reason that speaking in tongues is referred to so much is because it is the only biblically backed proof that a believer has recieved the Holy Spirit. ( Axts ch 2,10, and ch 19) I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit and was filled with the Spirit before I ever recieved the Holy Spirit indwelling. I could easily have convinced myself or been convinced by others that i had already recieved. Because of the crucial role recieving the Holy Spirit has in our salvation God has provided a biblically backed sign to confirm it.

can't believe i've subscribed to this channel for so so long and never watched not one video and today after many weeks studying scripture and asking the Lord to help me minister to my Pentecostal mum and aunt after much debate regarding the fallacy in their very obvious cult health and wealth name it and claim it movement to which to the very last straw that broke the camels back regarding if you don't speak in glossolalia(to them would be tongues) that the Spirit of God is not indwelt in the born again Christian, i was looking for that very conclusion to ready myself for this very sensitive task and behold; this video was so aptly in my feed as "you may be interested from your subscription" I tell you something; this is just how the Lord works in my life, His timing is PERFECT...thank you pastor Hibbs for this

This is an amazing teaching from Pastor Jack, I have listened to him for years both on KZfaq and radio, please don't lump Pentecostal as a cult, although you're parents does sound like one, not all Pentecostal churches are like that most are very good Bible believing, all the gifts of the Holy Spirit believers who abhor the name it and claim it group. May GOD work in the hearts of your parents and empower you with the message that will help get them out and to a good Bible believing church. God bless you.

@@stevenkaae9490 you may be right on the indevidual aspect although i haven't been to a Pentecost assembly to which affirm that outwardly speaking in tongues without interpretation and running up and down the aisles is a no no, these assembly congregations allow for female preachers to come in invited from other ministries and take over whole services, not to mention just so bible illiterate; however not all members agree with everything but stay put because its what their used to...but i say if there are errors in a church group then remove yourselves ...a little leaven leavens the whole lump. Loving Christians nonetheless but the p/c theological doctrine is dangerous ..Heaven bless you also

Thank you Pastor Jack, in John 20:22 when Jesus breathes on the disciples and says to receive the Holy Spirit, I have always thought this was when they were born again, but have so often been told that this was some kind of pledge of the Spirit to come in Acts, which never made sense to me. My husband and I finally thought we found a church that teaches sound doctrine only to later find out the pastor believes in baptismal regeneration, heavily citing Mark 16:16 and Acts 2:38. He is a wonderfully humble man, open to discussing the Word so I am praying for the Lord to pull scales off both our eyes in our areas of weakness in the Word as we traverse it together. Please pray for us, thank you.

TGE LORD TOLD NICODEMUS THE WIND BLOWS AND YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF IT BUT CANNOT TELL WHERE IT COMES FROM OR WHERE IT IS GOING. SO ARE THOSE WHO ARE BORN OF THE SPIRIT. The story in John of Jesus breathing on them saying receive the Holy Spirit when compared to The other Gospels mimics Jesus telling them to wait and receive the Spirit...we know the Spirit couldnt come until he ascended so for him to give it to them then would be breaking scriptures!!! Him breathing signifies he was there n the flesh and not in Spirit he was simply telling them to wait in Jerusalem and recieve the Spirit just like recorded elsewhere in the Gospels!! The chain of events line up perfectly with the other Gospels and the same message was given to them!!! Seek and you will find. Fast and pray and he will answer you!!! Find the narrow gate. Dont be deceived!

Jack, I don't understand the difficulty in explaining the Trinity of God. In Genesis we are told that we, male and female, are made in God's image. Like him, we are 3 in 1. We have a mind or soul, we have a body and we have a spirit. Yet, we are each just 1 person. Since we are in His image... I hope this helps somebody to understand how 3 can be 1. Yes, the image involves more, but this for the concept of 3 in 1. *No eggs were harmed in this explanation.

@catbytesnd I am a sister, a daughter and a wife....but I only have ONE NAME and I am only ONE person. I have three titles based on my relation to others around me, but I am still one person. The begotten Son of God was NOT God WHILE he walked in his flesh on this earth. He, in his own words makes this clear over and over throughout the gospels. He was made. He was created. That in itself proves that he was NOT God. He aged, he grew, he slept. God does not age...as he always was and always will be. God does not sleep...as he is ominiscient and omnipresent. God IS A SPIRIT. God IS HOLY. The Holy Spirit is in fact THAT eternal almighty God, Invisible. The Holy Spirit IS NOT THE THIRD PERSON of ANYTHING. The Spirit of God, FILLED the Son of God....just like the Spirit of God can fill us today!! The Son said that he could do “NOTHING OF MYSELF, but my Father WHO IS WITHIN ME, He doeth the work.” The Son of God was fully human...the perfect spotless human, created by God. He submitted his own will to THE FATHER’S will perfectly, because he allowed the SPIRIT OF GOD WITHIN HIM to govern his thoughts, words, decisions etc. He was the perfect example for us, that we might live and walk as he did. Upon the completion of his role, the Son was raised from the grave, and it was then that he INHERITED the fullness of the GODHEAD - which means the chief or head God. He was GIVEN ALL POWER, Authority, and Dominion. That was his inheritance. The Invisible God, now dwells WITHIN the VISIBLE God. When we SEE the Son of God come in the clouds, we will be seeing our Father - Isaiah 9:6.

@@beyondthesurface3327 It seems you are saying that the attributes of God, Jesus, Holy Spirit and the Father, are just titles and that Jesus came along later. Jesus responded to the Jews: John 8:58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” To say that the flesh became God, or just a man indwelt by God, is backwards and not what the Bible tells us. John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. And who was the Word? John 1:14-15 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me BECAUSE HE WAS BEFORE ME.’”) Jesus did not BECOME God, nor just indwelt. God became the man, Jesus. If Jesus came later, then like you say, he would not be God, just another human that gained power and authority. He would then be like other saved souls. We will be sons and daughters of God, but WE will NOT BE God. We were created in God's image. I have a mind, a soul which is my WILL. I was born with a SPIRIT, the power by which my will has the power to make my BODY act as i will it. I take it that you have a soul that willed your body to type your text here, and the power of your spirit made it happen. We ALL are born with a spirit though it's a sinful spirit, but we get a new spirit if/when we are saved, "born again". So, we have soul, spirit and body. So does God. God is not JUST spirit. He has will and also the body. They are not JUST titles.

M Crocker Trinity teaching is nothing but the philosophy of men. It is a delusion. Who taught you God was three in one? It wasn't God. God declares that there is none with him. None beside him. He created the world by himself. God himself does not believe in the trinity. Isa 45:6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. We must believe what God believes about who he says he and obey his holy word if we want to be with him for eternity. John 4:24 God is a Spirit. Numbers 23:19 God is not a man... Believe it,...and if you don't understand it...the God sent preacher Gino Jennings will help open your understanding of the One God of the scriptures by God permission.

M Crocker It is worthy to note, that in Genesis 1:26 the first person plural pronoun is used, but the third person singular conjugation of the verb is still used. The Hebrew grammarian Heinrich Genesius (and other early Hebrew grammarians) called this the pluralis excellentiae (plural of excellence), which is similar to the so-called “royal we." I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that אֱלֹהִים also occurs with plural adjectives, but while still retaining singular meaning. For example in Joshua 24:19 we find “אֱלֹהִים קְדֹשִׁים” (eloheem qedosheem, a holy god) in which קְדֹשִׁים is a pluralized adjective qualifying אֱלֹהִים. However, immediately after we find the phrase “…הוּא אֵל-קַנּוֹא הוּא לֹא-יִשָּׂא” (hu el kanoa, hu lo yeesh’a...) - meaning “he (singular) is a jealous (singular adjective) god, and he (singular) will not forgive (third person singular conjugation of verb)...” - indicating that the intended meaning in singular. Note also that the singular word אֵל (el) was used for God. In sum, אֱלֹהִים (eloheem), when referring to the one God of Israel has a singular meaning, despite its being a technically plural word. The above bible verses I cite, in which I show verb, pronoun, and adjective use, are consistent with this singular status of the word. This shows another use of the plural. Considering Arabic has established intensive forms, in which adding prefixes, infixes, or suffixes, adds meaning to words it is not a stretch to think that Hebrew, being a related meaning, may be similar in this respect. So, in addition to being using quantitatively, it seems apparent that the plural form can have a qualitative function in terms of intensity - the term in the plural has a quality that is more intense that the simple singular. The word for sky, or heaven, in biblical Hebrew is never used in the singular, yet I do not think that the usage of the syntactic plural is necessarily indicating more than one heaven. I believe the plural is used as an intense form here, or more rather an extense form, indicating the sheer size, the vastness, the extense of the sky/heaven, which is omnipresent when you look above. The structure sounds very much to me that it being used figuratively to emphasize the idea that God is so big, so great, that not even the vastness of heaven can contain him. This being the case, how could he possibly dwell on the earth? This structure is very reminiscent of the common English structure of repeating a word for emphasis: "He has millions and millions of dollars."

I agree, that is where Pastor Jack got some of the terms incorrect. However, the concepts he taught are correct, particularly the indwelling being what happens instantaneously for all those who are saved, and the "epi" coming upon a believer that can happen *after* someone is saved, and which can happen multiple times for specific reasons and purposes.

Is the gift of tounges an evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
@HalLeath
@HalLeath 8 ай бұрын
IMPORTANT BIBLE QUESTIONS?? Is there initial evidence when a believer is Empowered to Witness by the Holy Spirit? I’m not saying that there are no exceptions to this, but I do believe that Tongues were the only Biblical evidence given in Acts chapter 10, and chapter 19. Notice there was no other evidence given. I’m not saying that there are no exceptions, but they are the exception! Do we teach the normal Biblical pattern or the exception? We must teach the Biblical pattern, and not the exception. If we did, in this day and age of doubt no one would even desire the true power to witness! Speaking in Tongues is a powerful weapon as well as the sign the Spirit has enabled you to boldly proclaim Christ! I served the Lord for a while without the Power of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Later on when I was Baptized with the Holy Spirit I spoke in Tongues like Acts 2, Acts 10, Acts 19 and my Boldness to Witness became a Thousand Fold!! Why? The change in boldness came only after I spoke in tongues. Amazing!! What is it that made me loose my Tongue to witness in English? I believe it was the Tongue of Fire that came with Holy Ghost tongues. I believe that one can believe in Jesus and not receive the Power to Witness. One is Born again by believing, but empowered to witness by the in-filling. Look at Acts 8, they believed and were even Water Baptized but the Holy Spirit did not fall upon them until later. Also In Acts 11, and 15, when Peter spoke about Cornelius, he said, that God put no difference between us and them, and gave them the same gift the Apostles received in Acts 2. How did they know? Their only evidence was they heard them speak in Tongues! Also, in Acts 19, Paul asked certain disciples if they received the Holy Spirit since, or when they believed? Why even ask that question if people receive the Spirit at belief?? I believe the journey of being Born again begins at belief, but there is more. Why? Because, the only normative pattern in the Book of Acts to receiving the Power of the Holy Spirit, is repentance, water Baptism, Spirit Baptism with the evidence of Tongues. I also have seen too many Christians, who served the Lord for many years, finally speak as the Spirit gave them utterance, and were transformed by boldness. Why? Also, in Acts 11, when Peter was explaining his encounter with Cornelius he said… 15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. 16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. Then in Acts 15, at the counsel, Peter said.., 7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. Wow! Today many Churches put Differences between the Apostles and believers. But Peter says… 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put NO DIFFERENCE between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. So do you agree with me? That the normal Biblical Evidence of receiving the Power of the Holy Spirit to witness is speaking in tongues? If not, In Acts 8, how did they know the Holy Spirit wasn’t yet given to the Samaritans? Even though they believed and were Water Baptized. The Apostles had to come up later and lay hands on them to receive! Why??

The Holy Spirit is recieved as the result of the Holy Spirit baptism. Three times in scripture the Word describes believers recieving the Holy Spirit( Acts ch 2,10, and ch.19). In each occurrence the first thing that happened was that they began speaking in tongues. The Word " recieve" in the original Greek that the N.T. was written in means," to take hold of" .The Holy Spirit is to be recieved as the result of fervent prayer after believing, repentance, and water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ. All the apostles taught this including Paul .

Pastor Hibbs, can/will you please explain Mark 16:15-18 to us? I have laid hands upon the sick (and prayed in tongues for those at a distance) and seen them healed. I have spoken in tongues to show that the Holy Spirit has come upon me. The other requirements I have yet to see to obey. What can you tell me about this? For when I bring the subject up to other Christians, I am now hearing that this was not a part of the original Bible. But it is a part of my 1611 King James and is a part of the 1599 Geneva Bible - the only two that I will read or believe for that was what I read when I received my salvation and the Lord accepted that and did not tell me to go to some other bibles. Most appreciate any response you'll give me regarding this. I have asked before as well. God bless you and yours...

Hey Dorothy, i am not affiliated with Pastor Jack's ministry in any way but I wanted to take a moment and respond to your question because i was raised pentecostal. Over 40 years of trying reconcile the tradition I grew up in with what the Bible plainly teaches has helped me grow in my understanding that most of what the Pentecostal movement teaches is not biblical. I make a bold claim so I'm telling to not not believe me outright but rather do your own research to see if what i claim is true. I started my search for the truth regarding this movement a little over five years ago after reading a book written by Ken Hagan Jr about speaking in tongues. His arguments for his interpretation of that gift actually raised so many questions in my mind that i started digging into church history which is where the truth about this movement lies, not the Bible, because what they (and I formerly) believe is taken way out of context. I still believe in the gifts of the Spirit and that are for today, i believe in miracles as they are in the didactic epistles but context is everything. We live in a culture that is over 2000years removed from the Scriptures of the New Testament - in a different language - so we as Americans must take extreme care to properly understand the scriptures and not carelessly take single verses out of context. As far as you question on Mark 16:15-18 goes, those verses only exist in much later manuscripts of the book of Mark so while I'm not saying they are not God-breathed scriptures, we should take care in how we interpret and use them. In general, they do not conflict with other passages of the Scriptures. Only other thing i want to say about "tongues" is that i would like for you to consider that there is nowhere in the Bible that describes the activity that the Pentecostals practice. Also note that history does not record the Church engaging in the practice of "tongues" as we currently know it before the Azusa Street revival. I strongly suggest you research the history of that movement with Charles Parham, who was an active member of the KKK and William Seymour who was illiterate and was initially kicked out of the Azusa Street mission because the pastor of that church said he and his message were of Satan. Charles Parham actually believed that the tongues that he and his bible students heard from Agnes Osmond was Chinese and he believed that this gift would be used to preach in foreign languages and even laid hands on at least one other missionary who actually failed in his attempt to bring the gospel to a foreign country. Understanding the history of the Pentecostal movement is essential to understanding if we are o. The right path in this age of distractions, spiritually and emotionally. God bless you!

At 12/13 in an old fashioned nondenominational tent meeting of the 1940's I received His salvation, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, a new love for others and oddly, He gave me a love for the Jewish people, yet in the mountains of southern WV I never knew a Jewish person and only saw one 'colored' person until we moved to DC after WW 2. Since He never does anything without reason, I'm still waiting for that reason. But I waited around 50 years for one prayer to be answered so I'm well aware that His timing and mine is different! Since it was the week before Christmas, no way I could be water baptized but He told me He would lead me where to be baptized at and he did months later. I would be called a Pentecostal by most but still consider myself nondenominational or better still; I consider myself a follower of Christ Jesus as were His disciples. What the Lord said to them, I consider He said to me. Not religion nor man has been my teacher but the Bible and the Holy Spirit. I have accepted what He has said for the past 70 years but He only gives me what I need at a time. I have never reconciled any traditions unless Biblical, you might say, i.e. Holy Communion, the Great Commission, wedding vows and the like. The best I could tell you about the Pentecostals is that is where the Lord had me to go for water baptism and that I know the Pentecostal Oneness to be a false religion. That's about it except I did stay with the church the Lord took me to and I evangelized there for 18 months but then had to be caregiver to my maternal grandmother and when I returned to the church there was a new pastor and he didn't believe in women having anyplace in the church. No more evangelism center at all, gone once he entered the church. I soon left and haven't attended another Pentecostal church but attended many others that taught the true gospel of the Bible. Couldn't forsake the fellowship. I've never questioned the truth of what He has taught and since He didn't tell me to go to a different Bible, I have believed all that I have read in it these many years, which caused my question here. So you see, I couldn't care less what the thoughts of others are about speaking in tongues (only discernment of who speaks through me) and since it was the prayer of tongues that saved my (then 6 year old) great-grandsons life...well that should say it all. : ) Now the gift of tongues is not only for the edification of the church, or to give praise to the Lord or even to be interpreted, but for our own edification and prayers for the sick and dying. It isn't as limited as some like to make it. I've even sang praised to the Lord in tongues and was so filled with joy I had to stop as it was to the point I could hardly contain it. Pray tell, are the Pentecostals the only ones that speak in tongues? If so there are a lot of dead Christians that could/should have lived. I guess I just know what I have and my children, grandchildren and soon, great-grandchildren have. A God first, life. We have all received healing and our cup runneth over when it comes to blessings. Mostly spiritual blessings, not money wise although a retired son who went into business for himself has daily been blessed with more work than he can do and his income has surpassed in four years what he had made in many more when working for others; so he has been richly blessed as has his church and family. I have read all that you've written and I do see where you're coming from, but it isn't where I come from. The Hagan's, Robertson's, Copeland's and most others aren't my cup of tea. I do listen to see if any are true on youtube, tv and the radio as in my 80's I drive but not as far as I once did, nor really get out much either, but I prefer what I have and it has served me well. Now you not only have intelligent knowledge but educational as well - but the spiritual which I'd think should be assimilated with intelligence, seems to be pushed behind the other two instead of first on the shelf. To me that's a shame. As for being 2,000 years removed, 'a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day unto the Lord.' So as far as He is concerned maybe it has only been two days? Who is to question? As long as we stay away from the vast number of 'new, understandable' bibles, why should we need to go through what you have put yourself through? For self edification? Oh ye of little "faith." I'm sorry but we seem to see things much differently. I may be in the world but I'll never take part of it. You on the other hand seem to need to be a real part of it, the worlds answers and all in the name of getting to the truth. To me if the Holy Spirit isn't good enough then nothing is. So although I appreciate the time you've taken for my sake, I just don't see things as you do. I'm sorry if you feel your time was wasted on me. To me the 'only' path is the one of Christ Jesus and what He taught. Oh but I do believe the OT too and that much of it is repeated in this day and age. I hope you know/have the spiritual peace that I do and that I'll meet you one day in heaven. Thank you and God bless...

It's been illustrated like a locomotive train. Faith is the engine, then the boxcar is faith, and our feelings are illustrated by the caboose. The facts up front are true whether we believe in them or not. Next comes our faith applied toward the facts. Specifically that Christ gave himself as a sacrifice in our behalf if we yield our life to Him. Then, feelings will ultimately catch up as we absorb this truth.

You need to hear the true gospel. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. You need to contemplate the gospel and decide if you believe. Do you believe Jesus Christ is who He said he was, that He bought every sin you will ever commit until you die with His blood when He laid down his life and again took it up by resurrection? Do you believe you are a sinner who needed Jesus to take your sins away? If you believe the gospel and confess to yourself and God that you have sinned, and accept His plan for you (to take your sins), His free gift, you are saved and His Holy Spirit will seal you forever until Jesus redeems you! Ephesians 1:13-14. Think of yourself(soul) as a possession(you belong to Jesus because he made you and purchased you with his blood) that Jesus has paid for on layaway(sealed with Holy Spirit until your day of redemption) at a store(earth). He will return to the store(earth) to pick you up(take you) and take you home(heaven). Items(people) at the store(earth) are made to purchase and bring home(heaven). We are made to bring joy, pleasure, and worship to the Lord. We were never made to sit on a shelf(earth). We were made to be purchased. This is not our home. We will go home(heaven) someday and our purpose will be fulfilled. We were given free will. We can reject God and choose to sit on the shelf. But if we make that choice, we will hit our expiration date(death) and be thrown into the trash can(hell) because we can no longer be purchased(redeemed/saved). I hope this blesses you and helps you to understand salvation. Until you die you can be purchased and it only takes believing and accepting His free gift of salvation! Don’t expect a supernatural event to happen or to feel much different after being saved. Just trust that you are and that the Holy Spirit that now resides in you will slowly and methodically, as you allow Him, change you over time.

It's important to keep context in mind. Hebrews 10:2 does not say that God doesn't want us to be aware of our sins. The context of that scripture was about animal sacrifices, because the saved jews were asking about whether they need to continue offering up sacrifices, and this AFTER being saved by the blood of Yeshua back in the past at Calvary. So God says, no, because 1) your sins are already paid for and 2) offering the sacrifices only serve to remind you of your past sins which have already been forgiven. In other words, we shouldn't let our past sins weigh us down in *guilt* . But that's doesn't mean we shouldn't be aware of our current sins. 1st John ch 1 says if we say we don't sin, we make God out to be a liar. We shouldn't pretend like our sins don't exist. The same chapter also tells us if we sin, we need to ask for forgiveness. I'm sure you'd agree if you're asking for forgiveness, you're entirely conscious (aware) of your sins. Having said that, neither am I saying that Calvary was not enough to wash our sins away. Asking for forgiveness for sins is not a salvation/justification issue. Rather, it is a *relationship* issue. A believer who sins and goofs off for a season does not lose their salvation, but they do hurt their relationship with God. It's like how if a rebellious teenager disrespects and disobeys her parents, she doesn't stop being their daughter, but her relationship with them is strained. Asking God for forgiveness is acknowledging we messed up and we've strayed, and subsequently repairing the relationship. You're right, satan is the accuser of the brethren. But again, that doesn't mean our sins are inconsequential. Satan lost our souls when we became saved, but he sure can make our lives miserable by making us feel guilty for our sins, and tempting us to sin so we're not walking closely with God in our day to day lives. So the fact that satan accuses us does not mean we should think as if our sins don't exist. Rather, the point is, we shouldn't let them give us a guilt trip. We can only grow spiritually, when we acknowledge what we're doing wrong, where our weaknesses are, and consciously walk closer with God through help of the Holy Spirit.

@@tristanhnl If John is talking to believers in [1 John 1:9] we have a contradiction in God's word,So let's keep reading...........If we confess our sins,He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness [1 John 1:10] If we say that we have not sinned,we make Him a liar,and His word is not in us......[1 John 2:1] My little children (Believers) these things write I unto you,that you sin not,And if any man sin,We have an Advocate with the Father,Jesus Christ the righteous......................................................[Hebrews 10:12] But this man (Jesus) after He had offered One Sacrifice for sins Forever,sat down on the right hand of God.[John 19:30] When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar,He said,IT IS FINISHED;and He bowed His head,and gave up the ghost.

@@leonardleonardlove20 , no there's no contradiction, because the context tells us what John means when he says in the very next chapter "these things I write unto you, that you sin not...." It is important to keep context in mind and not isolate just the verse. Read the entire chapter, and the entirety of the next chapter as well. Chapter and verse divisions is a man-made invention, they were not an original part of scripture. That's like if someone wrote a letter to you, and you numerated each sentence, and chose to only read 2 or 3 of the sentences. If you want to know what the letter-writer is saying to you, you read the whole letter to get the main idea, the big picture. It's the same with scripture. When you read 1st John chapters 1-3 in context, it's quite clear what John means. He's essentially saying, and I paraphrase, "if you say you don't have any sin, you make God out to be a liar. However even though we sin, our actions will in general show whom we are actually following. If you are truly saved, you're going to walk in the light (habitual actions showing righteousness). If you are not saved, you're going to walk in darkness (habitual actions showing disregard for God and unrighteous living patterns)." It is important to remember, we are SINNERS saved by grace. We need to be honest with ourselves, as John says, and admit that we still sin. Regarding Hebrews 10:2, did you read the whole chapter? Please go back and read chapters 9 through 11, not just chapter 10 verse 2. As I said in my previous comment, the author of Hebrews is saying we shouldn't burden ourselves with GUILT. He's not saying we shouldn't be aware of our sins. Context, my friend, is always, always, always important =)

@@leonardleonardlove20 , you got the right idea, but I'm afraid you ended up with the wrong conclusion. Please reconsider to whom the book of 1st John was written to. They were not written to unbelievers. All the epistles, including Paul's and Peter's, were written to various churches. Every time they said "we", they were speaking to believers. Notice how in various parts of 1st John, John would say "we" to indicate he was talking about himself and other believers, then switch to "they", or "whoever", or "he" when talking about unbelievers doing things characteristic of unbelievers. In the verses you quoted, when John was saying "That which (WE) have seen and heard declare we to YOU,THAT YOU MAY HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH...", I wish you would have quoted the entire passage of scripture. John wasn't saying they didn't have salvation, but that in understanding the "word of life" better, their "JOY MAY BE FULL". Having salvation and having joy do go hand in hand, and it should for the believer, but they are not entirely inclusive. You can be saved, and still fixate on worries and cares, and not have joy even though that believer should. Also note the start of chapter 2. John calls them "my little children", and for the rest of the book, continues to use "we" in speaking of saved people. Knowing that 1st John is written to believers, there is no reason to believe chapter 1 verse 9 is not speaking to believers. And I hope you understand I do understand and agree that all our sins are paid for, past, present and future. However again, if I may ask you to read in CONTEXT. What was the author if Hebrews talking about in chapter 10? To understand the big picture you need to start reading from chapter 6. He was addressing jewish believers who had gone back to the animal sacrifices. Earlier, you had quoted chapter 10 verse 2. Allow me to quote a larger portion of the text so you understand the point being made: "2 If they could have provided perfect cleansing, the sacrifices would have stopped, for the worshipers would have been purified once for all time, and their feelings of GUILT would have disappeared. 3 But instead, those sacrifices actually REMINDED them of their sins year after year. 4 For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins." So as I said previously, the author of Hebrews was speaking about GUILT in this CONTEXT. Let me ask you an unrelated question. Can you tell me what 1st Corinthians 2:9 is talking about?

soon2ctheking The Bible does NOT say that speaking in tongues is the ONLY evidence of The Holy Spirit. Just not what The Word of God says. I know Jack used that example from the book of Acts at the FIRST coming of The Holy Spirit upon them as depicted in....... Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. * Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. As the Spirt gave them utterance. This is but one example, but one move of The Holy Spirit. Consider......... Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. * Joh 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit has a mind and Will of HIS own that is of God. There is NOWHERE in Scripture that says one MUST speak in tongues. This is a lie from the pits of hell and I have come across many perpetuating it. You know what? Anyone simply asserting such a falsehood you ought not listen to because they are not of God and are for the most part speaking gibberish and PRETENDING that they are actually speaking in tongues. Do someone by The Holy Ghost? Yes! But the better evidence that one is a liar, wolves in sheep’s clothing is when they say that such is a necessity of proof of The Holy Spirit. The fact is that they are misrepresenting, they are LYING about that which The Word of God does say and no one indwelt by The Holy Spirit will intentionally do that for any period of time. I know we all are learning and no one understands ALL of The Word of God but such is an out and out LIE! And anyone who has actually READ the WHOLE Bible ought to have come across the following which is the evidence of such being a FALSEHOOD....... Spiritual Gifts * 1Co 12:1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 1Co 12:2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 1Co 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. * 1Co 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. DIFFERENT GIFTS! i.e. NOT the SAME gifts! 1Co 12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 1Co 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 1Co 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. * 1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; * 1Co 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; * 1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: To ANOTHER divers kinds of tongues! To ANOTHER means, explicitly dictates - NOT TO ALL! * 1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. One Body with Many Members * 1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. * 1Co 12:14 For the body is not one member, but many. * 1Co 12:15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? * 1Co 12:16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? * 1Co 12:17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? * 1Co 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. “As it hath pleased HIM!” As HE sees fit! * 1Co 12:19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? * 1Co 12:20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. * 1Co 12:21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 1Co 12:22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: * 1Co 12:23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 1Co 12:24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: 1Co 12:25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 1Co 12:26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. * 1Co 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. * 1Co 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. * 1Co 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? * 1Co 12:30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? Are ALL ANYTHING? I mean are all this or that and if not then of no use having not the SPIRIT? DIVERSITY! God loves diversity not cookie cutter Christians! 1Co 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. I do apologize for my tone in making this point, but such is, as I said, a LIE of the devil to make some feel unworthy or that they are not saved or have NOT The Holy Spirit and frankly it does make my head to do a couple of full revolutions as I spit nails! The above section from Corinthians is not even SMALL! It is quite detailed and very explicit explaining that which you have mentioned and likely heard from some person indwelt by none other than a demonic spirit and NOT The Holy Spirit has perpetuated. Just completely untrue and anyone who has read The Word of God ought know so. I pray this blesses you. :-)

Sorry Jack...but you are incorrect. I am a sister, a daughter and a wife....but I only have ONE NAME and I am only ONE person.

@Judy Swavely When Jesus said, “When you see me, you see the Father.” he was testifying to the Spirit of God that was within him. How can we be sure? How do we today obey the Word of God when it gives us the exact same command to be the HANDS and FEET of Jesus? We do this by fully submitting to the Fathers will, by walking in uprightness and obedience to the Word, and by allowing the Holy Spirit...WHICH IS THE Spirit of God Himself to work or manifest Himself through us. I grew up in a fairly traditional Protestant church. In my early twenties, I became involved in a Vineyard Church (very charismatic, similar to a Pentecostal church). I many times witnessed believers, who had received the FILLING or BAPTISM of the Spirit of God, “MANIFEST the Spirit” both physically and verbally. In fact, I recall many times one of the leaders of the church overcome by the Spirit of God, and as he spoke words of prophecy, there was no doubt that it was indeed THE FATHER, THE SPIRIT OF GOD speaking through him. Another leader in the church had what we called ‘the ministry of healing’, but was it that person who was DOING the healing?? No, it was the Spirit of God healing the sick THROUGH that person. Again....we were literally SEEING the Father heal, THROUGH a Spirit-Filled leader. Now let’s go back to Jesus, the Son. He said, “I do nothing of myself, but THE FATHER WHO IS WITHIN ME, HE does the work.” Every time Jesus submitted himself to the Spirit of God, (the Father who was within him), by doing what the Father wanted him to do, we SAW God. Remember, up until that time, NO MAN ON THE EARTH had ever been worthy enough to be FILLED, FULLY with the Spirit of God. No man was perfect, spotless. The Spirit of God could not dwell in an unholy ‘temple’ BEFORE the day of Pentecost because the sacrificial Lamb, THAT BEGOTTEN SON, had not yet paid the price. Jesus however was perfect. He was the FIRST BORN among many to have the HOLY SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD, dwell WITHIN him. Incredible!! This is THE MYSTERY that we can in fact know. The mystery of the Trinity is no mystery at all, we are just told it’s a mystery, and that we will never fully understand it, because it’s too hard to explain. The truth is this.....WE CAN KNOW THE MYSTERY, and the scriptures explain it to us if we have ears to hear and eyes to see. And how do we as believers have ears to hear and eyes to see? Only when we ourselves have received THAT FILLING, THAT BAPTISM of the Spirit of God. Then we can know the mystery of how the Son of God was filled with the Spirit. This is confirmed through scripture: 1 Timothy 3 Romans 16 Ephesians 1 Ephesians 3 Colossians 1 1Corinthians 2:9-13 “But as it is written, The things which eye hath not seen, neither ear hath heard, neither came into man’s heart, are, which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of a man, which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have receiveth not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit, which is of God, that we might know the things that are given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.” There is no Trinity. It is a pagan teaching of Babylon, rooted in the worship of the three stages of the sun. Philo of Alexandria, brought this philosophy forward during or shortly after the time of the Apostles. Roman Catholicism pushed it through Constantine, cohersing the Christians to accept the idea of “3 Gods” so he could win the vote of the Christians and Pagans. There is ONLY ONE GOD, and he brought forth His begotten Son to redeem mankind unto Himself.

@@beyondthesurface3327 , so according to you, because the Holy Spirit dwells in you (1st Corinthians chapters 3 and 6), if I have seen you, Ms Melanie Hiebert, then I have seen the Father?

@tristanhnl
@tristanhnl 4 жыл бұрын
@@beyondthesurface3327 , I'm explaining it just one last time, and that's it. After this, it is the Holy Spirit's job to convince you, not me. I'm just the messenger. All right, here we go: The Father is God. You believe this, and so do I. Yeshua, the Son of God, is God. I believe this, and you later confirmed you believe this too (although with the false idea that He only attained Godhood after Calvary....but I digress). The Holy Spirit is God. I believe this, and way earlier in the discussion, you affirmed this belief as well. Just for clarity, let's repeat it: we both believe the Father is God, Yeshua is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. So here's the deal. Is the Father the same person as the Son? I say no, because Yeshua refers to the Father as a separate Being. Yeshua says He does the will of the Father. If Yeshua and the Father are the same person, then God is a schizophrenic who refers to himself in the third person. But this is not the case. Additionally, scripture tells us Yeshua is seated at the right hand of the Father. So clearly the Father and Son (Yeshua) are different entities. Yet you acknowledge that the Father is God, and Yeshua the Son is God....and the Spirit as well. And...there is only one God. The Father is God, the Son is God, the Spirit is God, they are separate, but there is only one God. There you have it. I say again, if you don't want to call it the trinity, you don't have to. Whatever name you give it is unimportant. Call it oogly boogly for all anyone cares. Don't fixate on the terminology, look at the concept/doctrine *ITSELF* . But still, where do you get the idea that Yeshua achieved Godhood only after Calvary? Book, chapter and verse please.

*The trinity is the greatest deception and falling away the world has ever experienced in the 1695+ year history of the church.* The idea of a trinity was introduced by the mystic Philo of Alexandria and his pagan philosophy was adopted and built upon by the early church fathers and the Catholic Church in 325AD at Nicea. Trinity is a fable taught by the imaginations and doctrines of men. God is ONE. Deut. 6:4 God is not three anything. God has no partners. He has no equals. There is none greater than Him. There is none beside Him. He created the heavens and earth -- by Himself.

Paul, here are 2 questions for you. 1) Do you believe that the 1st commandment (worship Yahweh only and Him only will you serve) is still in effect? 2) This same question was posed to Melanie elsewhere in the forum: what does it mean when scripture says God is "the First and Last"?
@paulhychyns3107

tristanhnl 1. Absolutely, in Spirit and in Truth!. I Am that I Am, YHWH, the Rock, Jehovah, Jealous; these are all referencing the One who is God Almighty, the One God of Israel. Jesus said, lo, I come in my Father's name. Which one of the above titles did the son of God mean when he said that? What is the NAME of the Father? 2. He is Alpha and Omega - the beginning and ending of all things.
@tristanhnl
@tristanhnl 4 жыл бұрын
@@paulhychyns3107 , you have answered those questions correctly. Only God can receive worship, and God is eternal. That's what "First and Last" and "Alpha and Omega" means. He is timeless. So having said that... -The Father is God. I think we agree on that. -The Holy Spirit is God, and He is a person, not just a force like the Jehovah's Witness believe. As far as I can tell, you agree with that (God is Spirit, He is a person, He can be lied to, Acts ch 5). -So here's where we disagree, and where I'll show you some scriptures. You don't believe Yeshua is God. I believe Yeshua is God. John 1:1- I take this literally, why don't you? John 20:28 - The famous doubting Thomas, who didn't think Yeshua was real upon seeing Him, dug his finger into His side, and exclaimed "My Lord and my God". In EVERY other instance when a human tried to worship a mere angel, that angel stopped them and said they are only messengers and created beings. Joshua tried to bow to a created being (angel) and was stopped. John (in Revelation) tried to bow to an angel and was stopped. I think there are a few other old testament examples. Well guess what....Thomas called Yeshua "my Lord and my God" and was *not* stopped. Yeshua received and accepted this exclamation as worship and subsequently answered "blessed are those who believe even though they don't see". Philipians ch 2- at the name of Yeshua every knee will bow and every tongue confess Him as LORD. Guess what, Isaiah ch 45 says *the same thing about Yahweh* . This is why I asked if you still think the first commandment (worship Yahweh only) is still in effect. The above scripture says every knee will bow to Him. Isaiah ch 45 spoke of that passage in the context of His sovereignty, worship and servitude. Every knee bows to Him BECAUSE HE ALONE is God. HE ONLY is sovereign. That's the context. So the parallel bowing and confessing of Yeshua in Phil ch 2 is not just an act of respect, but of worship unto God's soreveignty. Phil ch 2 is a reference to Isaiah ch 45. -Earlier you acknowledged that Yahweh is the First and the Last, the Alpha and Omega. Who is the speaker in Revelation ch 1? Who is the One who brought John up to Heaven? It is none other than Yeshua, and yet look what He says: "I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End...." The term First and Last means He is eternal. Only God is eternal, everyone else was created at one point. Yet Yeshua calls Himself the Alpha and Omega. He never had a beginning, He is God. -Now turn to Rev ch 5. Read the entire chapter. Yeshua, the Lamb who was slain, receives worship from all the hosts of Heaven. If Yeshua is not God, then all of those guys in Heaven are breaking the first commandment. This too is why I asked if you believe the first commandment is still in effect. -Turn to Hebrews ch 1. The Father actually turns to Yeshua and says to Him "Your throne O GOD, is forever and forever...." So I say again, I believe the doctrine of the triune Godhead because it is BIBLICAL. Christians use all kinds of terminology to describe the doctrine, 3-in-1, trinity, triune Godhead, etc. The terminology is unimportant; the concept itself exists and is true, whether you fully understand it or not. This is an example of living in faith. God says it, so I believe it, even if I don't comprehend it thoroughly. I trust God's word. I think you should too.

What is that commercial that keeps coming up... for "a love gift of any amount?" You are a mega church, surely you don't need to do this. Chuck Smith would never do this. I don't like the way it's done... sorry, I really don't. There are other ways. Quietly at the end, written out. but this feels like Sid Roth! Sorry pastor, I am disappointed!
@tristanhnl
@tristanhnl 4 жыл бұрын
That's why it's called a love gift, it's entirely voluntary. I don't see how CCCH being a big church has anything to do with it. If God leads a person to give for a certain purpose and ministry, then they can. God works in all different ways, and doesn't look at whatever dollar amount is already in the coffer. CCCH is nothing like Sid Roth or the other apostates claiming blessings (or worse salvation/justification) if you give to their church/ministry.
@ms.christian7792
@ms.christian7792 4 жыл бұрын
You feel the need to defend it. Why? CCCH is nothing like Sid Roth... so far. This commercial isn't just once, but several times, it's a selling tactic. A sales push. It's new as far as I know. I have never seen Pastor do this before and like I said, Chuck Smith spoke intently against this stuff. It is too much ESPECIALLY that it interrupts important teaching! Would Jesus do this?
@tristanhnl
@tristanhnl 4 жыл бұрын
@@ms.christian7792 , because I think it's nitpicking. And if you know CCCH is nothing like Sid Roth, why even use that example? I think this is where discernment-minded Christians go overboard sometimes, looking for faults at things that are really quite trivial. I know, I used to be one of them. As for the reason why there are multiple interruptions, that's because "Real Life" is a TV programme aired on Christian channels all across America and abroad. These interruptions are part of the in-between commercials. It doesn't hurt to say you can send in a voluntary donation to help contribute more resources for getting the gospel out. Like you said, CCCH is a big church, and they don't "need" these donations. But again, these are ministries that can benefit from more funds if they're available, and more resources can go out to help evangelism. I know that the ministry "Voice of the Martyrs" is well-known and receives a good amount of funds. What if I never donated because I had the mentality that many other people already have, and I don't "need" to give? As I said before, God can and does use whatever you give out of your heart. Whether there's already something in the coffer is irrelevant.
@tristanhnl
@tristanhnl 4 жыл бұрын
@@ms.christian7792 , I also forgot to add, CCCH sends the gift for a donation of *any* amount. That means you can literally send in a penny, and they will still send you the gift (and lose money if someone did that). That's why they will send a gift for any amount. They're looking for willing hearts, they are not trying to profit from people. They are genuinely asking for partnership to help garner more resources and increase evangelistic synergies.

There is a better way to do it. We have a statistic in Hollywood, one letter written says what 500 were thinking. Breaking the message to ask a couple times is bad form and it doesn't help the teaching at all! at the beginning, at 17 min. again at 26 min.. WAY TOO MUCH OF A PUSH! Its as if the message is used to push these INTENSE ads! Its beating it, drumming it into us. I won't watch again !
