The other night I saw a repeat on Antenna TV where everybody gets a paycheck but Fish. So he calls personnel and tells Barney "You're not gonna believe this, but according to their records I'm dead. Now I have to go down there an prove to them that I'm alive...and that's not gonna be easy!"

And 30 years later a website dedicated itself to whether Abe Vigoda was alive that day or not. It went on for at least a decade.

The sitcoms of the 1970's & early 80's were my favorites, excellence in both writing & acting. I was a huge fan of Barney Miller, from the pilot right up to watching Hal Linden turning out the lights & closing the door on the "Old 1-2". My mom actually cried during most of the series finale, I know that I sure as hell felt like it myself. You just don't get excellent shows like that anymore..........

The good ol days of solid jolly humorous TV series... All in the family, Barney Miller, Cincinnati's Radio WQRP...Great stuff ....Here I am back again someone tagged me so I must offer three wishes...#1 I want Barney and the gang back #2 I want Loni Anderson #3 I still want Loni Anderson...Those were some fine Times in television... But you know of course it was the actors that made these shows what they were, and to all of them our prayers and thanks...

I have been thoroughly enjoying this. One of the view videos I don't feel a need to fast forward or skip. Just happy to watch it all through. Laughed just like then (even though I understand some of the bawdier content now - back then I was a kid in the 70s!). Loved all the guest stars from some of my fave shows like Soap and Its a Living and so many character actors. I had to mention Sarina Grant (I remember her most from Good Times, but she was in a lot of shows!). She was sort of not too featured in The Call Girl episode, but she did everything with the part she had (Dubois). Her facial expressions and gesticulations were terrific! They didn't pay much attention to her and they were not very respectful, whereas the other call girl was treated like royalty. Hmmm.

I was a teen when this aired, I'd watch many cop shows, this show was the first to show law enforcement as people with emotions and feelings, it put cops on a good light as good people, which most are, it's the bullies and ones that abuse power that gives them a bad rep, it was good for cops to show reality and humor. Everyone hates cops until they need one, toughest job.

Wojo's such a meathead. Everything he says is a snarl, a contradiction and a low minded jab at others. He's the perfect characterization of an institutional drone. He has more facets than first glances may reveal.

Wojo is a Viet Nam Vet and does not pick up on all the civilian people right away. It takes him time but Wojo gets there. That in some ways would make him a child.

I never liked Wojohowitz or Levitz (the short one). Wojo's arrogance definitely not justified, and Levitz was a Chihuahua. Levitz was a mall cop who got the PD job because he's good at bootlicking. I LOVED Fish's and Soo's dry sense of humor, lol...
