I was tackled the other day landed in open half gaurd. I have an injured low back so I'm was weak w limited mobility. I retained a knee shield and framed w my knees and elbows as I was on my side. Tho I tried, I couldn't control his sleeveless arms. (I'm used to a gi). When I tried to grip he'd pull them out and be wound up for bigger shots. He got one good one. Then I said eff finding his arms. Created space via pushing off the hip and stood up and got the single or some kinda blast double. ...Any suggestions on how to control the opponent from guards? I speculate 2 on 1s, elbow grips, pronated grips perhaps. Working into a collar tie and overhook is usually my flow. Any kind of head and arm.

you can say this about literally every move in bjj ever. doesn't mean they don't work when the right techniques are applied at the right situation.

What I said doesn't contradict what you said. What I meant is that the practical execution of these techniques is harder to achieve in a real-life situation where your opponent is dynamic and unpredictable.

If you trained bjj you would be hitting this technique literally everyday

Extremely easy to hit live if you practice practice practice. This is hands down my #1 mount escape.
