I found out quite by accident, when trying to add to a stack of jump +20 pots. As long as the stack is not maxed, you can add to it.

Yes you keep all gear and wealth. You just start back at level 1 (or level 15 if you choose to play an iconic) and you get a free past life feat. Reincarnating is fun to play through a favorite toon again as a more powerful version. You also get extra build points after your first 2 reincarnations to a maximum of 36 build points.

Just NO about only HTR and nor ETR. For a couple of reasons: 1) it's not true is more difficult from 20 to 30. The xp necessary compared to what quests give is actually better, and dailes on EN give a whole bunch. Each and every day. *AND you will ALWAYS find a group for that*. Moreover, Epics is a whole different game *and new players need to see that*. Also, again, more groups available, smaller level constraint (if not at all), far lesser people yelling at you about broken bed&breakfast (BB) 2) epic past lives are FAR more powerful than heroics. Those, alone, can smooth the HE barrier quite a lot. Now, while older players might find the game too easy, for newer is too hard. Helping them make the game a little less hard is important, and EPLs do that.

It started as doing a request just to show the reincarnation process, and then morphed into more than that, and now I wish I had added a few more things, but I really just wanted it to be kind of an orientation to new folks that are intimidated by trying to reincarnate the first time XD

I think you're mostly thinking VIP with your first point, which is usually not what new players are. EDs and thus ETR only becomes available with MotU purchased and before purchasing that I would strongly advise any new player to play quite a bit, seeing wether or not they actually want to spend money on this game. True enough, one complete heroic life should be enough, but most of the times it's also worth it to wait for a sale on the expansion packs. Even with the expansions, a first lifer doesn't necessarily have the TP to invest in packs that make the epic progress easier. I see the merit of your points though, but I still vividly remember the first time hitting epic levels when my first life char simply wasn't up to task - bad equip, mediocre build, GH being the only epic pack - you feel you let your parties down. Besides, after my slow and meticulous first life I was already tired of my character and wanted a new one.^^ And grinding out tokens for HTR was brutally hard already, leveling seemed to be an immense obstacle back in the day. So yeah, it is not as clear cut as I put it in my first post. I have seen a couple of first lifers in the epic levels recently, and with their meager HP pools they often seemed miserable...

As a matter of fact, I started playing on late Nov/Dec 2015 (just before U29), as a ftp. I actually went VIP as of Dec 2016, but my first 3 EPLs (on my first 2 lives). Granted, I had the luck that christmas 2015 offered *both* the expansions for 12$, which are significantly less than any other option currently, but anyway, for all those epic lives, GH and VoN were the only things I ran multiple times, most my XP came from there. GH, VoN, LOD each and every day might make you tired, I get it, but I think running "Dungeons&Sewers" (65% of the low level quests are exactly the same) over and over without seeing much else is not a good way to introduce someone to the game.

I've heard of the problem and I know it's documented. I personally have never experienced it and most of the time I didn't unequip my dog. Glad it never happened to me!

nope but reincarnation is fun and makes your toon more powerful. I would at least recommend reincarnating a toon you are serious about twice, so that you get it up to a 36 point build :-)

We all have that moment of uncertainty. :-p Made a character on Sarlona yesterday. So weird not having all the assets that I am used to having on Orien! But it seemed to be the best chance to sometime be able to run the Shroud with your training groups.

it's a whole different game when you're all alone on another server, without ship buffs, wealth, gear and past lives. I just went through that whole experience of DDO vertigo on Northwynd. I had fun with it though, as challenging as it was. I hope you will have fun on Sarlona and I hope to run with you in a raid some day! :-)

-grin- I agree! I miss my ship buffs most of all. I made a Morninglord on Sarlona because I level so slowly as a solo. With the level 15 start I may actually hit 20 by 2019. I was tempted to try to port over one of my 20s from Orien, but chose not to. Still might though.

I am level 13 now on Voodu so I'll be your level soon. I am doing mostly reaper 2-3's so might be tough on the first lifer, but you're welcome to send me a tell if you want to run when I catch you. I've been leveling at a rate of 1-2 levels per day. What is your toons name?

Hi Mark, I understand your anxiety, I remember being there too. I hope you will find as I did, that playing through your character again is even more rewarding the next go around. It sounds like you got it down but note that racial reincarnation came out after this video, so you might want to check out my short video How to Racial Reincarnate kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mphhfqWn28C7mnk.html. The important difference for what you're doing is what you wrote as step 2. If you want a class past life then you would use a heart of WOOD. If you want a race past life instead, then you would use a heart of BLOOD. You should epic reincarnate back to 20 first, which gives you an epic past life that is usable at level 1. Then once you are at 20 you can then either use a heart of wood to heroic reincarnate for a class past life or racial reincarnate to get a racial past life. This works for standard races, not iconics. Alternatively, if you wanted, once you epic reincarnate back to 20, you could level up to 30 again from there and acquire another epic past life. You can just keep going from 20-30 to get epic past lives if you want. If this is your first reincarnation then you will get more build points for your ability scores when you re-make your character back at level 1. You will also have an epic past life in your feats list that you have to drag into a hotbar and activate the stance. Hi Will, this only matters for purposes of a heroic true reincarnation or icon reincarnation in which case you'll get the class past life for whatever class you have the most levels of. In the case of a tie, you'll get the class that is the "dominant" class, based on the rules indicated in the ddowiki article here ddowiki.com/page/Past_Life_Feats#Dominant_class Hope that helps :-)

Okay, my next question: when I look at that diagram on the wiki, it says I have a choice of which Life feat I can get. Is that true, or must I be that dominate class to get that Past Life?

This information is relevant enough for someone who is new to reincarnation. There is another video in the description that shows how to racial reincarnate, which is the same process as heroic true reincarnation (class reincarnation) except a Heart of Blood is used for racial reincarnation. yup. Any time you make an iconic toon, you get the 1 default level. You can use a LR +1 heart to change the level out, but prob not worth it unless you're doing a final life build.

You can reincarnate an unlimited number of times but you can only benefit from 3 of each race/class/iconic/epic past life. So if someone had every possible past life, then that would be I believe 123 past lives.

no, nothing like that. Every class, race, iconic and epic destiny has a specific past life feat associated with it. Each past life by itself gives a relatively small bonus, but it becomes more significant when they start to stack up and add up. You can check out a list of all the past life feats in the Feats link at ddowiki.com. I'd give you the direct link here but ddowiki appears to be down atm, which is odd. I've never seen it down before.

Reincarnation is about starting over with something new. In doing so, you only get a free feat that basically represents a remnant of knowledge carried over from your previous life. For example a sorcerer past life gives you +1 to evocation DC's and +20 spell points, which can stack up to 3 past lives for +3 to evocation and +60 spell points. No other sorcerer abilities are carried over, just the past life feat of +1 evo and +20sp per sorc pl up to 3. Looks like ddowiki is back up.
