I've mainly been playing reaper at low to mid heroic levels on a 2arty/rest mechanic rogue & a pure ranger archer, but what i've noticed so far: Playing cooperatively with a sneaky character who has the warlock past life feat can make life a lot easier since if you confuse the famine reaper it can often take out 2 or 3 other enemies in the group with it's spells before they know your party is there (as activating the confusion doesn't break stealth) - and the surviving enemies will be packed together to drop AoE stuff. One thing I think you neglected to mention - reapers are incorporeal so make sure you can negate that 50% miss chance somehow if you're not a caster. Ghostbane augments are ML1 if you can get them and ideal for the job, especially at low levels on cannith crafted gear which can be really powerful (my rogue is positively murderous with his ghostbane-slotted holy piercing repeater), but their price is going up precisely because they're in demand now. Don't be afraid to sacrifice personal dps for the benefit of the group as a whole - sure, the elemental imbue from arcane archer is really powerful especially if you focus on a single element, but paralysing arrows can potentially lock down an entire roomful of enemies & even works on reapers - just don't forget to have something other than force arrows for the incoporeal bypass though :)

For TWF Melees, using ToEE weapons in heroics in both hands and rolling 20 on the main hand procs the AoE for both weapons, which is huge all the way through heroics 4 skulls and below. Complete weapons with a red slot and meteoric makes them AoE machines. That's been my technique so far.

ty for Sharing the tips Voodu, I've always kept my cookie jars as full as possible, always loved them =) I really like the return of the old 'way back when' group dynamic in the reaper mode. Happy Questing everyone !

Keep lots of haste pots to counteract the Famine Reaper's slow touch. Something that bypasses the incorporeal miss chance is good too. I used a ruby of ghostbane at low levels, and the cloak from TS for mid high heroic.

Another option for playing around with Earthen Guard in Reaper is the Gorgon Docent and Gorgon Plate. Both are ML:8 and come from the Eyes of Stone quest. I still like it, though the character that I was running has been put on hiatus now that I can prep my main for racial reincarnation.

At low levels I've found on demand temporary hit points some of the most useful buffs for survival. Feigned Health + Featherfall from a warlock is an amazing party buff in reaper, and Mass Aid works as a pseudo Mass Cure Light. The biggest benefit is they aren't debuffed, unlike healing.

I find my monk's fists of light very useful. It gives me full effect since the aura is placed on the target. The finishing move is gimped for me but has full effect on nearby party members.

I've got a first life warlock who is level four who can generally solo Haverdasher on three skulls using her standard warlock poo-flinging-monkey attacks and with the 3rd level warforged barbarian to take some of the aggro and dish good damage. I have to have both Blacktail AND a reaper show up to get any Reaper xp since there needs to be 10 opponents before reaper xp, but even without the reaper xp it is a good way to familiarize oneself with the basic frustrations of reaper mode so you can decide if you really want to bother with it or if it is a waste of time for you personally.

I am going to make a sad prediction: Reaper is the end of DDO. It may be a slow end, but a end nonetheless. To explain: Reaper has not even been out for a year, and already there is a divide among players, the casual player and the hardcore. Those who have mastered the game, and those who have not. Some guilds are now only recruiting Reaper players. Some players only do Reaper, and will no longer do Elite. Some players can not do Reaper. More and more, I see less and less Elite parties. I know from experience it has become more difficult to find parties to do Elite. Heck, I now see R2 to R4s often. I expect to see higher soon. Eventually - as Gingerspyce does, and wants other to do - those who play Reaper will play at around R10. Eventually, there will be no Elite parties to join. Why would any new player join DDO when they cant find a group to join? Eventually, there will be no new players in DDO because it will not be a social game for them. There are simply not enough casual players. Soon there will be no reason for them to stick with this game. Right now casual players can tag along with a party in Elite, and they can level, and have fun. They will not be able to do so in Reaper. And even if a new dedicated player wants to join DDO in a year or so, why would they? When most players are gaming at R10, and they are on their first life, no good gear, don't understand the game so well - but are willing to learn and try, they will not be able to keep up. Add to that some guilds will not let them join, they may not be able to find Elite parties to join, etc.... I understand the problem: Elite was too easy for people, and people bitched and complained. Now there is Reaper, and it was short-sighted. Other things could have been done to fix DDO. Its a fun game. And for those who play Reaper will remain fun for some time to come. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. I know some people who do not play Reaper, and are playing solo more and more often. That wont go on forever. Why join a social media game when you end up playing alone?

You can run reaper and elite both for first time bonus. People still run elite
@lightningandodinify

John Dunn I think it's starting to get better now that people have realized that r1 runs are not as reliable as elite. DDO doesn't offer rewards for failure and a lot of people are getting tired of risking failure in every quest. The devs still need to fix the mode to save the game. People who think that players are returning en masse thanks to reaper mode are deluding themselves on why people left to begin with. There are several lightweight solutions being offered by the community and the devs are ignoring all of them. I seriously doubt the staff even play this game, and I'm certain they don't run tests that simulate the experience of a new player.

@@lightningandodinify R1 is easier for Casters, or anyone who requires mana for healing or dps because Lost Souls drop all over the place. Even at 2 levels over it's still worth doing R1 for the first time (120%) xp bonus. Also, if you can get your heal amp up, there is no heal debuff, but you still need good survival skills.

Hi Voodu.....could you tell the ddo world that if they are going to be smart asses and techno-italls, that most newer or inexperienced , folks will just stop playing and even try to shut it down. Not every one knows what ppg dmc and rotc means in the game, if you get me. You have helped me much in this game and I trust you to help out, as you like the game as much as I do. Thanks

I use fire spell power, devotion, and heal amp to boost my consecrated ground. Besides fire spell and positive pots, are there any other ways to boost it? Maybe maximize, Ear dweller, etc?

I have not run heroic Reaper life yet, two-part question one do you get most of your Reaper XP during heroic? if so is it more important than ever to take two levels of Rouge?
@vooduspyce
@vooduspyce 7 жыл бұрын
Heroic leveling/questing is definitely going to be the better/faster source of reaper xp. With racial reincarnation coming out in "mid March" combined with the fact that heroics is the best grind for reaper xp, I think DDO is going to largely be a 1-20 game from here until we get the expansion in October. Though I'd make sure to keep some toons at cap because we have a new raid coming out too in u35, so I'm really interested in seeing what that's about and what the loot looks like. I don't think 2 levels of rogue is critical for heroic reapering. If you like playing that way then go for it, but I don't think you should feel forced to splash 2 rogue if you really don't want to.

Do bodyfeeder items that give you 15 hps, is that also nerfed? Stuff that gives a specific benefit? Like lifeshield items and so on?
@vooduspyce
@vooduspyce 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Viper, properties that give you temp hp like life shield and bodyfeeder are not nerfed. It's one of the reasons that warlocks are so powerful in reapers, because of all the temp hp the get are not affected by healing debuffs.

DDO is now so easy that a true first life pure sorc is soloing 7 skull reapers. Just like every game out there nowadays everyone is a winner in ddo. Used to enjoy the fact that this game was hard and that you actually needed a good group of friends and a complete party to do alot of these quests. Now every quest is soloable even in reaper mode. so sad.

So electrical absorption stacks with boat buff?
@vooduspyce
@vooduspyce 7 жыл бұрын
multiple absorption %'s will work together as long as they are not the same %'s. The are multiplicative, however, not additive.
@vooduspyce
@vooduspyce 7 жыл бұрын
yes, as long as it's a diifferent % than whatever ship buff you have.

Oh goodness, it works like soulsborne logic with diminishing returns and a "sweet spot" goal of about 100. (instead of 30 in bloodborne)
@vooduspyce
@vooduspyce 7 жыл бұрын
100 was the sweet spot people went for not long ago when the level cap was 28. With legendary content and reaper mode, I'd recommend a goal closer to 150 for an average toon.

Have one of the experts on the DDO forums check your build, you have done something wrong if you are doing less damage then past lives.

Hmm... If you're SOLOING reaper i'd say to do reaper at regular level (2 lvls over) to get that first 200 or so thousand since ddowiki.com/page/Reaper_difficulty#Experience "Reaper XP persists through reincarnation"
@denewst01
@denewst01 7 жыл бұрын
I usually split the difference & go 1 level over, that's only a 20% penalty and not so much of a power drop, and more lfm-friendly.

This game sucks now. Played years ago came back recently. Nothing but super powered players that want to finish every quest in like 30 seconds or less.
