The second Sage enemy appears: Sage Doge. It's just another tank-type doge, nothing dangerous. For comparison, he is slightly weaker than Shibalien Elite. As exchange, he gains debuff resistance (which means nothing because who wants to debuff him) and has small chance of Freeze (mostly to counter tanker unit)
Other than being Sage Doge introduction, the stage is just generic Doberman stage. So any good tanker/anti-Wave should be able to shut it down. I recommend to rush one Calamari so it won't give you trouble later.
Recommended Uber/Legend Rare:
1. Anti-Wave unit. Ex: Keiji, Akira, Eyewaltz, Cat Machine, Emma, etc
2. Strong melee unit. Ex: Balrog, Baby Cats, Kai, Kozuchimaru, etc

Now way! Aku and Henry stage?! That sounds dangerous. If only we have a meatshield that's both resistant to Aku and immune to Freeze. That would be very convenience, wouldn't it?
Recommended Uber/Legend Rare:
1. Freeze Immune unit. Ex: Cyclops TF, Baby Cats, Chronos, Sirius, etc
2. Midrange rusher. Ex: Saber Alter, Poseidon, Kalisa, Li'l Valkyrie, etc

04:22 - Burger Garden / ビッグバーガーガーデン
You know, whenever PONOS creates Star-Alien heavy stage, it always ends up with huge mess. This stage doesn't have harmony. Literally just spam large number of Star Peng multiple Alien boss and expect you survive that. It makes sense why the bullshittery is so strong here because this stage is supposed to be showcase room for Aer Ultra Form. An artificially difficult stage to make him looks more worthy.
So what should you do here? Just throw every anti-Alien you have and expect they could make it out. Your key unit is Seafarer. Once he loses the control on the field, you will die. No comeback.
Recommended Uber/Legend Rare:
1. Anti-Alien Killer. Ex: Bora, Aphrodite, Akira, Ganglion, Mekako, etc
2. Wave Blocker unit. Ex: Cat Machine, Emma, Eva00, Pandora, etc

06:35 - Small Inlet, Large Field / 大草原の小さな入り江
Standard peons and backliner stage. It might be intended as endurance battle by chipping down the backliner slowly. But PONOS used too much peons here. You can simply use them as Jellyfish bait and rush the process.
Recommended Uber/Legend Rare:
1. Super Backliner. Ex: Aphrodite, Luffalan, Cosmo, Dark Phonoa, etc

08:29 - Bubbly Dream / バブリー感ドリーム
Subdue the first Li'l Angel Cyclone and you win. Stupid-ass stage.

09:27 - Prairie Harbor / グレートプレーリー港
Another new Sage enemy: Megamiel. It's Angel version of Loris. He has slightly more powerful combat stats but loses standing range. The most dangerous aspect is his debuff ability. It's 100% chance of perma-Slow. Basically, Megamiel is a copy of Croackley with smaller blindspot to work with. And as predicted, this enemy is made to make Socrates Cat relevant. Socrates Cat can invade the blindspot, can't be perma-slowed, and inflict Freeze debuff to help other allies. He is no longer useless unit. Good for him.
In this stage, he will be paired with St. Doberman and multiple Goku Otter. It's not a big deal. The boss battle doesn't start until one minute since you enter the stage so you have a lot of time to stack anti-Angel CC. Add 1-2 DPS unit to repel Sage Doge, and you're done here.

Thank god PONOS learned their lesson with Wild Doge and made Sage Doge significantly easier to handle. It's just relic doge with small chance to freeze instead of curse. Also, I was playing the last stage in BCU and yeah the only reason it exists is for Socrates to have something to do that isn't covered by other units. Hell, even level 30 Socrates can beat this stage with support from Cyberpunk and research Ramen.

No, it's like wild doge but weaker. The thing that made wild doge so threatening or annoying is his lack of backswing and damage. Sage doge is exactly like that but weaker. If they buff him to like 300% he would be WORSE than wild doge.

@@JorgeCrack5000 A backswing of 0.4. Wild doge has a backswing of 0.1 and relic doge has a backswing of 1.27. Also, sage doges attack frequency consists mainly out of TBA, just like wild doge.

It's crazy how Ponos gets increasingly worse at stage design with each update. It's been a while since we've had a real good and challenging stage that isn't just straight up cancer to play. The last I can remember is Zero Luza, but maybe I'm wrong.

While I do wonder what happened at PONOS for so many ZL stages to be so bland, I disagree with the notion that we haven't gotten a good stage in over a year. There are some nice difficult stages in ZL, as rare as they are. Might just be me, but I found Mirage Meadow challenging.

Hey siluman, what would you think of a sage subtrait on a hard-pushing enemy like the bore variants? They're most often countered by cc (icat freeze, seafarer freeze, sanzo slow, bomber freeze), so i'm curious about your opinion.
