I definitely think the code of conduct being included is one of those ‘small positive steps’; it’s not gonna fix these issues by itself, but codifying what good play is can only be a positive step to achieving those kinds of games. As far as army lists, I’ve got a somewhat unconventional one with a very controversial choice in it. List is for a 500-point veto system tournament coming up next February: Warband 1: WK 3/10/1 (Army Leader, but no Crown!) 16 Black Nums Warg Rider with throwing spear Tracker Warband 2 Suladan on armoured horse Serpent Rider 16 Haradrim with 16 spears, 9 bows 37 models, 10 bows, 3 fast models, 6 Might The basic game plan is a ‘middle of the road’ approach where I have a massive numbers edge over elite armies, and can leverage F4/D6 with a banner and Harbinger/Terror to grind down horde armies. Controversial choice is obviously WK as a bargain option. The idea here is that to turn the WK into a real threat I need to invest at least 40 points more, and more likely 50. At that point the model count goes from 37 (scary) to 30 (totally average). I have a better leader, but I now need to leverage him way more and thus expose him to more risk. Currently my leader VPs are super safe, but they’re unlikely to be safe if I need my WK charging and killing stuff every turn. What do you think? Am I onto something here, or should I bow to accepted wisdom that the Crown is an auto-take (which, to be clear, I think it generally is)? I’d love to hear your thoughts

I waited to listen to this until after I finished walking through all 150ish pages of actual rules - will be posting an article on my blog at the start of the new year walking through everything. Excited to hear your takes!

Hey guys, I have a 650pt tournament coming up middle of January and was hoping to get your thoughts on a Minas Tirith list. Its going to be a 4 round tournament. Scenarios are drawn from pools 2, 3, 4, and 6 (1 pool per game), with each round being 1 hour and 45 minutes. Warband 1: Gandalf the white on Shadowfax - 2 Knights with shield, 4 Rangers with spear and 8 WOMT with shield Warband 2: Ingold - 5 Rangers with spear, 5 WOMT with shield and 1 WOMT with shield, spear and banner Warband 3: Madril - 5 WOMT Total is 647 points, 9 might, 9 bows and 33 models. I feel it has decent mobility with the knights and Madril and Gandalf's magic should be pretty potent at this level. I had another list drawn up which was a 45 unit horde of Harad and Mordor (Suladan, Betrayer and Guritz and bows), but would like to play Gandalf, although I am worried he may be too expensive at this points level. Hiho, I host a "Monster and Men" tournament in January in Austria with 423 points + the Monster (400 + 23 from 2023) "The Monster" Good armies get an Ent (Profile Page 92), which counts as an independent hero, with 1M/1F/1W and Heroic March and the Magic Resist special rule. The model does not receive an army bonus. Evil armies get a Mordor Troll (same profile used for the Ent - profile page 92, only the keywords are replaced with those of the Mordor Troll page 122), who counts as an independent hero, with 1M/1F/1W and Heroic March and with the magic resistance special rule. The model does not receive an army bonus. The monster ignores the effect of heavy terrain. The monster is never considered unarmed and cannot perform Special Strikes (S87). The monster counts as its own warband and has a green alliance with all factions. Round 1: Breakthrough Round 2: To the death! Round 3: A Clash by Moonlight the basic idea is to get the dusty Pelenore Trolls out of the box and paint them. What would you guys bring to the event ?

Hey guys I have a 600 point list here I was hoping to get your thoughts on. 600pts Shire/Rivendell Yellow Alliance Merry-shield, eleven cloak, pony (leader) -15 Battlin Brandybucks Will Whitfoot -6 archers, 4 shirriffs Fredgar Bolger -3 archers Glorfindel-Armour of Gondolin, Asfaloth -2 Rivendell knights w shields Cirdan -6 Elves w shield and spear 41 Models, 11 bows, 7 might Fredgar and Glorfindel drop first to hopefully get an advantage during deployment. Should be winning the shooting war against most lists while I have blinding light up. Merry is the leader so Glorfindel can get stuck into combat.

I struggle to make good armies I like and this maybe one I do Helm, horse 4 royal guard, throwing spears 2 royal guard, throwing spears, horses 3 warriors, shield, throwing spears 1 warrior, shield, throwing spear, banner 4 outriders Captain of Rohan, horse, heavy armour, shield, throwing spear 2 royal guard, throwing spears 3 warriors, shield, throwing spears 2 outriders 1 outrider, horse Captain of Rohan, horse, heavy armour, shield, throwing spear 2 royal guard, throwing spears 3 warriors, shield, throwing spears 2 outriders 1 outrider, horse 650, 33 models, 10 bows, 3 mounted heroes, 4 mounted warriors and 23 throwing spear foot warriors. I am thinking that I may have too many outriders and should convert some into warriors with throwing spears, but I am unsure. What do you guys think?

Hey, long time listener, currently having a listen early Christmas Day as I’m at work, I have an idea for a standard Isengard army at 800: Saruman on horse with 11 uruks with pike, 6 with shield and 1 with pike and banner Mauhur with 2 crebain and 8 upgraded scouts with shield Vrasku and 12 crossbows Grima Should be 40 warriors at 797 Have a good wizard to shut down every threats, shooting for other heroes, 8” move units as well as 12” flyers and a banner too Only really lacking cav for knockdowns but bar that I feel like it works, thoughts ?

Hey guys! So here is a slightly different sort of list question. I've played a few games with this 500p list after getting my Great Beast done, and have had a pretty great time with it. Suladan with Armoured horse (no bow) 115 (Leader) 9x Haradrim warriors w/bow 63 6x Haradrim warriors w/spear 42 3x Serpent Riders 39 Great Beast of Gorgoroth 150 Shelob 90 499p, 5 Might, 18 bows, 30 models (with 10 on the howdah) At 500p it has provided me with a lot of bowfire to win shooting wars, and the combination of Shelob, the 8" beast and a bit of cavalry is very mobile. Both the beast and Shelob benefit greatly from Suladan's big banner, and Suladan has even saved the Beast from a compel with a heroic resolve once. Thusfar my biggest bane have been F4 high defence battlelines, things like Uruks, Minas Tirith and Dwarves. What I want to do is take this list concept to slightly higher points level, either 600 or 650. However I'm having a lot of trouble finding out a way to do this, and wondered if you guys had some input. The restrictions are to keep in both the Great Beast and Suladan, while I love Shelob I think that she probably has to go, but I would like something that brings in mobility to compensate. Love the show, keep up the good work!

Arnor is back in the new rulebook as part of the army pictures at the end of the manual, so maybe they'll be back on sale again or expand the army range?
