I really love this version of "Don't Worry Baby" Lorrie Morgan just knocks it out of the park with her vocal and The Beach Boy harmonies are spot on as usual. It's a perfect pairing. I can play it over and over again and never get tired of it.

My niece married her son, so about 4 years ago i had a chance to meet Lorrie: I asked her about this song, I said. "Lorrie, when you sang Don't Worry Baby with The Beach Boys you seemed to be having so much fun, what made you so happy?" Lorrie said, they were so sweet, they thought we were the stars and yet, they were the big stars, the music is so beautiful and I was so honored to sing with them backing me up." one of her favorite memories. and yes I like this better than any version of this song. I would love to hear her sing more of their songs.

She was SO beautiful that it was easy to dismiss her as eye candy and underestimate her vocals, but IMO she was always one of the very best female vocalists in country music. There was a handful from that era, when Lorrie was in her prime, who could take any song and knock it out of the park, and Lorrie Morgan was absolutely one of them.

If you listen to the detail, pronunciation of difficult sounds like ' baby' or ' dont' , and holding every note for it's full duration, plus slowly winding up the excitement, ornaments and emotion, you realize she is a total professional besides being irresistible. 120%.

This song always brings me back to 1964/65 when I was 10 yrs. old and when our neighbor, Lilly, played this song over and over all night long -- she was depressed that her boyfriend, Johnny, was going off to some place called 'Vietnam' and we felt so bad/sad for her -- happy to report that Johnny made it back home ALIVE, they married and had a few kids and I still think of them when I hear this classic song.

This has been by far my favorite Beach Boys song for decades. It sends a good clean sincere message. When something is really, really bothering you, just play this song. Guaranteed your entire mood will turn on a dot. At the end of the day 100% of things that worry us don’t happen. Lonnie Morgan’s rendition makes it sound more sentimental somehow. It honors this classic song, The Beach Boys and herself.

My guess is that you don't remember the 60s very well. The original was a nervous, pessimistic song, and this version, with a female singer, is no less strange, though it absolves the girl friend of being a femme fatale. Whatever. I still agree that it's very nice cover of the song and if Brian Wilson was happy, no harm done!

I actually like this version more than original. I know that may be sacrilege but the whole dynamic of the song changed with having Lorrie sing it. It became a girlfriends perspective about her boyfriend in the song. The original song was about just the guy's perspective. The original was awesome as well but I love this version better. Lorrie absolutely nails The vocals and of course you have the great Beach Boys backing her up. Lorrie Morgan's smile is infectious you can see how happy she is.

The only thing I find objectively preferable about the original is the vocals aren’t cookie cutter to the rhythm and instead are syncopated.

You're right . Totally right . Lorrie is fabulous . But I just came from watching some Beatles then I listened to the Beach Boys and there's something just so wonderful when men harmonise like that . And write the stuff . And play the stuff . And perform it . Lorrie's voice and manner is perfect here .... then she reacts with a touch of disbelief when the actual Beach Boys and THOSE harmonies come in . And its lovely to see .

In one sentence you captured the magic of this moment. Lorrie made the earth standstill for 3 minutes and 16 seconds. They need to do more songs together - God Only Knows, "Darling" - my favorite and maybe a few more.

I could put both the original version and this version in a loop as the only songs I could ever hear again and be happy. I don't know how you can pick one over the other because they are both performed so perfectly.

Eight years later after this posted I'm still listening to it weekly on my KZfaq playlist. Yes I know they released the song in 1996. 25 years later it sounds as good as it did the first time I heard it. Lorrie Morgan took the song to a whole different level. I've been listening to the Beach Boys since 1970. Mike Love's harmonies are epic as always! Sure wish they all were still with us. The songs they'd be still playing had they stayed together!

I have always loved this song, but when I heard this version, I immediately fell In love with Lorrie. This is one of the many songs that got me through Viet Nam. Awesome harmony!

I remember seeing the Beach Boys, live, in the Round, at Valley Forge Music Fair in the early 70's. No smoke, no fireworks, no lasers, just pure music from the original Beach Boys then. They sang every hit song for almost 2 hours, never taking a break. Ah, what memories!

In 1975 I was a young teen with a '68 Barracuda Fastback my first car. I had Beach Boys Endless Summer on 8-track! I played it so much the tape literally disintegrated!! This brings me right back there.

Brother, In 1975 I was a High School senior, and I had a newly repainted, freshly reupholstered 1971 Chevy Nova with a 350 cu in engine with polished aluminum rims and air shocks in rear. Also had an 8-track player. Never made a "score," in my car, but still brings a smile to my face to think of those days.

She one LUCKY girl! IMO: Brian is GENIUS; Mike's bass lines here vibrate through me; Lorrie's voice is gorgeous! It's tough to see Dennis already gone while knowing now that Carl wasn't far behind. There's talent here that comes around once in a life-time, and I'm so BLESSED that it was in MY lifetime! I would LOVE to have sung with this group!!!

As a very sad and homesick 17 year old (having left home at 16) this was the song that kept me going and lifted my spirits. As an older gent, this take me back and makes me grateful that I have had such a full life. Thank you so much for posting. Loved it.
