That's a very good combo. It's not that hard to pull off if you're tutoring directly to your graveyard. It just requires more setup. But yeah, that's a great way to circumvent the nonlegendary creature clause!

Oh for sure, that's why I mentioned as much in the video. You can simply include a bunch of huge beaters to give as gifts to your opponent to help against a potential archenemy or bigger threat. Or even to just create a state of chaos due to the goad mechanic. That seems really fun as well. I love chaotic politics 😈

Fun decks like that is definitely something I'd like to revisit in order to update the deck list. Especially when the commander is super popular due to the theme. So you know it's going to be constantly receiving an influx of better cards to support that theme.

100% There's no way people will want to let them live. Fortunately, they have haste.

You don't pay 2 for the staff; the staff untaps the equipped creature as a trigger effect. Whenever a creature dies, the trigger enters the stack without paying any mana for it.

Thanks! Glad you liked it! You can definitely add those cards. You can take out some lands for those 0-costed rocks if you really want to make it efficient. As for tutors, I don't really think the deck needs any. But if you're intent on including them, you could take out some card draw for tutors like Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor. I wouldn't include slots for removal solely to deal with our own creatures. In any case, those removal effects should also serve in case we need to get rid of any other creatures our opponents have.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm new to MTG: Wouldn't it be easier to play low cost single target instant removal for our own creatures that can also be used against opponent's creatures like "Cast Down" rather than have to use an expensive creature like visara the dreadful to destroy it or use homeward path to get our creature back and then sac it with another land?

@@stephenSATtutoring No worries, fam - and welcome to the hobby! Sure, you can run cheap removal but if you're also reanimating your heavily-costed creatures, their casting cost won't matter. Plus, you want to be able to consistently get your creatures back since this is a multiplayer format. Number of times you can use Cast Down in a game: once; number of times you can use Homeward Path in a game: once each turn.

With WotC incessantly releasing new cards week after week, I'm always swamped with new content. I haven't had a lull in new content to focus on ideas I've had in the backburner for quite some time 😮‍💨

Fortunately it's no longer as expensive as when The Beamtown Bullies got spoiled.

That's because you need to control your creature in order to sacrifice it, which is already another hoop to jump through. I preferred killing off my own creatures after donating them, which is a more consistent, viable, and reliable way to get them back into my graveyard in these colors than to steal them to then sacrifice them for value. Especially outside of my turn. Sacrificing a recovered creature for mana doesn't really do anything outside of my turn. Altar of Dementia, maybe. But other than that, killing them is better than sacrificing after stealing. The altars do nothing until you have the very few cards to steal your creatures back.

@@TheCommanderTavern point taken, was more surprised because altar of dementia works wonders if you do happen to have homeward path. I know that it's a mana sink but I also believe old stick fingers would do well in this type of build.

@@skeletor957 Old Stickfingers is definitely a great and interesting card here since it can fill your yard with just creatures. So you're not really dredging away everything from the top.

I do explain it in the video. These effects are not in the same trigger; they're in different triggers. It's like Fiend Hunter vs Banisher Priest. You can do it with Fiend Hunter since it has disparate triggers but not with Banisher Priest since it all happens in the same trigger. Basically, Worldgorger Dragon and Soulgorger Orgg have two distinct triggers: one when they enter the battlefield and one when they leave the battlefield. If in response to their enter-the-battlefield trigger, you remove them from the battlefield (killing them, exiling them, bouncing them, tucking them, etc.), but that trigger is still on the stack. But them leaving the battlefield triggers their leaves-the-battlefield trigger. Since that happens first, there's nothing to return. Then, their enter-the-battlefield trigger resolves, exiling everything or reducing the life to 1. Since the creature is no longer on the battlefield, this effects is essentially permanent. You're interrupting the dependent trigger. You have the LTB trigger resolve BEFORE the ETB trigger resolving. That is why it works. This is also a very famous situation when it first came about with Faceless Butcher back in the day. There're plenty of other examples for this kind of situation that you can Google for if you want to see more of them. But it does work - they have to have different triggers for it, though.

That's definitely an evil gift! Although, it does have an upside and the opponents can conspire together to swing into someone that has a flyer that can block it.

@@TheCommanderTavern the thing is that you can give the flier to the player running other fliers. The downside is that this could be the Dragon tribal player and they could get 15 cmc of flying lizard on the field. Because of how evil this strategy is, this deck really wants to be cedh where opponents are less likely to have blockers in general let alone fliers. Also in cedh your opponents want to screw each other over so even if you give it to the player with the swan token and they attack the player with the untapped mana bird, they probably won't block because they want to see their opponent lose their hand and board.

@@donaldbrorson4583 Ah, well, naturally, a cEDH focus around this commander would take many other things into consideration as far as which bad gifts to include in it.

@@TheCommanderTavern yea it really only wants the main 3 and then ways to see them as consistently as possible. That being said, the bronze bombshell combo seems legit, the two pieces alone are good enough to run by themselves, although the staff is kinda expensive to equip, so a cedh build might consider running that too.

That also works, considering it's very cheap to cast. However, it's only limited to artifacts while the rest of the entomb effects I showed can get any creature, so keep that in mind.

@@toddhall7218 There's a lot of colorless utility lands. I wouldn't want to sacrifice any of them for another one, much less sacrifice a color producing land for a utility land. It might be slightly slower, but the loss in speed is made up with hedging against getting color-screwed.
