Season one was better for sure but I feel like with season 2 they are trying to figure out what direction they want to take this series so that way it can keep going. Also there were better moments in this season and of course the epic episode 6 is the best out of either season.

I want to work with her 😭😭😭😭 I absolutely believe she’s a young(ish) chef with just enough naïveté as to not be jaded, but also understands the business and how hard it is and has seen some failure after culinary school. She’s green, but not inexperienced. She made this role hers entirely. Just perfectly executed. And I love that they showed her interactions with her father over time. I thought he was just going to drag her down, but I think he actually just helped keep her grounded. Every time I think a character is going to really upset me, they come around or do something unexpected. I can’t heap enough praise on the two of them.

I actually really liked the girlfriend angle because even though it felt rushed they explained that it was something that people wanted for carmy, and carmy wasnt feeling it. He gave them the wrong number and while I hoped it was gonna be the end of their encounters, it was nice to see how carmy wasnt present because of his relationship. And that someone outside of the whole situation was affecting everything. She didn't feel forced, but I admit it was a tactic to pull some heart strings and make carmy appear more tortured. But while she took up screen time, it never really felt like it didnt make sense or deteacted from the larger narrative. The whole thing was that peoole just wanted carmy to be happy, and not over think it too much. Ended uo with a broken door and relationship not because he wasnt allowed to be happy but because he's been going through it for sonlong he didnt know how to navigate a healthy relationship in a way that makes sense. Of course he could have just called the guy, and shot her a text. But thats not what the show was trying to portray. I do think the whole "other person overhears something the other person says and gets hurt trope is dumb" and I'm lowkey not looking forward to how they deal with this. But i think it was overall a good inclusion.

That’s the entire point of introducing Claire. To show the audience that Carmen isn’t at the point in his character development to focus on two things at once. It’s either Claire or The Bear, it can’t be both at this point. Not until Carmen deals with his internal issues caused by his upbringing, his mom, his brother dying, etc. It’s also there to give us a sense of dread, because we know that one or the other is destined to fail because of Carmen’s immaturity and self sabotaging nature.

The performances are ALL so stellar with the interaction between characters, the emotion, the brokenness, the in-your-face toxicity and are flawlessly &:beautifully delivered. I enjoyed the growth of all the characters in S2, but E7 with Richie was awesome. He becomes an inspired favorite you love and root for, instead of consider a cringeworthy major ahole. That said, E6 is my most memorable TV experience and favorite of the season. It is so well done it actually takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. It's an experience, rather than a viewing. I welcomed the commercials so I could catch my breath. INCREDIBLE delivery by ALL of the cast!! I liked season one a lot, but I LOVED season two. Absolutely loved that they dove into so much more with the characters. What I appreciate above all else is that these people TALK to each other. They yell, they blow up, they freak out, they calm down, they apologize and talk it out. The restaurant business is hard. It’s hard every single day. I’ve been in it for almost 25 years now, working every position from hostess to dishwasher to grill cook, everything in between, and now am a pastry chef. I worked in restaurants for years before I ever even considered culinary school. I love how they show such diversity in the way things are run in so many different places. I love that characters got to get out and GROW. Richie’s transformation, while fast, also felt earned. He drove me insane through most of the show but I really came around to him in the end. I loved the quiet moments between Marcus and Lucas. Showing that Chef’s can be really good, really focused and serious, but not be assholes and genuinely like what they do. All in all, I couldn’t have loved this season more. Instead of just a ton of kitchen chaos, there was calm when it was needed.

•Ssn 2 defo better than ssn 1 because of those outstanding character developments •i don't think addition of claire was forced. It is intentionally shown like that in the beginning I think because the finale shows a full circle as to why she can't be allowed in Carmen's space because he has intimacy issues which messes with psychopathic routine and it messes him up completely but Richie does say that u can never allow a good thing to happen yourself •I have a new mad Respect for jamie lee curtis because "oh my god" •ep7 and 6 are defo the standouts with the family dynamic and richie starting off like a wrinkled shirt which comes out completely ironed at the end of the episode. But i loved the Marcus episode as well. It was a touch of fresh air and peace P S: sorry for my long comment. Out of the 120+ shows I have watched this show has creeped into my top 5. I thoroughly enjoyed both seasons, although season 2-the Fishes episode was a hard one to watch and the chaos went on just a bit too long, I think. I had to fast forward through part of it because it hurt too much. Everyone grew in season 2, but Richie’s change from a fuqing ass into a mature, responsible human being and fully a part of the “family” was a marvel - you could see the light bulb switch to ON in his eyes. When the Emmy’s come out, I hope Ebon Moss-Bachrach gets a nod. I’m disappointed that season 2 ended as it did, not only the Claire/Carmy storyline, but leaving Carmy in the cold.

I really hope ebon gets some recognition too. Ill be honest he was sort of my favourite character in season 1 and my goodness the growth we saw (in almost everyone) but especially richie was great :)

Season 2 was phenomenal, with episode 6 being...well, perfect. That said, I do think episode 5(?), the one where they follow Tina to a bar (no spoilers beyond that) is among the worst (to be clear, I love that moment for her, but the episode as a whole is weak). It felt directionless, chaotic - and not in a good way. Though, this show's "worst" is what some other shows would kill to achieve.

Episode 6, 7, and the finale were all 10/10. Episode 7 was my favorite of the entire series, I need to rewatch it. It's a 10/10, second best show after Severance right now. Both are masterful shows.

This has to be the best season 2 of any show I’ve watched in recent time. The character development of each member of the bear restaurant was perfect, not too dragged on. Episode 6 for me was the highlight of the season as Ritchie had the most character development and really makes you care for him and want to see him evolve in the season. Lastly some of the final episode scenes reminded me of the Netflix movie boiling point, the way the camera followed the front of house characters around the restaurant with conflict arising. All in all outstanding season, season 3 needs to happen

The Claire story line was executed and written so well that I didn't care that it was a tangent. In fact, I would watch a spinoff series focusing just their relationship. This is the first series of 2023 that I just had to binge the whole season. Could not go to sleep without finishing it. It was kind of genius how Carmy just upgraded everyone with the right way to match The Bear. They say sequels are usually just bigger in scale and more of everything. Season 2 was exactly that. Elevated. Standouts were Ritchie (his transformation) and Sugar (more screen time). The 2 leads, Carmy and Syd, kind of took a back seat, which works to give space for the growth of skill they are causing in the lives of the other characters, like Tina. The hour long "The Bear" movie "The Berzattos" (episode 6) was particularly triggering as histrionic personality disorder in toxic family drama is my worst nightmare. It was really going for an Emmy, though.

I know everybody likes Fishes but the frenetic pace of that episode was a little too stressful to me. Forks, is the best episode in the sea of great episodes. You actually have room to breathe and feel the performances. The amount of subtext was worthy of better call Saul. I was crying at the end, it was the most beautiful, subtle, emotionally impactful episode of the entire season. I didn’t expect that ending. Wow. Talk about set up and pay off. Something that seems to be lost in the craft of film and television today.

I love that the integrity of the show/story was not impacted by the writers' strike. It was cohesive & well written. The cameos were chef's kiss. Episode 6 was nostalgic and a traumatic movie in itself, it delivered.

Claire and Carmy are the typical forced cliche romance that no one asked for. I would prefer to see Carmy build friendships with the regular cast. That’s where the heart of the show is.

I think it’s him learning to balance himself so he could possibly have both he’s his own worst enemy is what I’m seeing with the start of this arc as it is very relatable with any adult living with a career and trying to find that other shoe

I respectfully disagree. Introducing an intimate relationship showed a more vulnerable, soft underbelly of Carmy that was interesting to see. I think it made his character more multi dimensional. It was the first time we saw him have an internal character conflict-does he focus on being an incredible chef or does he allow his focus to be shared. Also, all the trauma that being in an intimate relationship stirs up is different than just the stress of work, seeing all the dysfunctional relationships within his family-him feeling conflicted to start a romantic relationship, supported the placement of episode six. Lastly, on a base level, he’s a sexy dude and it’s fun to watch.

I preferred ssn1 it was so focused on Carmen and Sydney my two favourite characters but i must admit, i really really loved seeing Richie and Tina's growth in ssn 2, two people who started off as egotistical a-holes deciding to step up. I like how they showed the difference in attitude between Tina and the older guy at the culinary school, change is a choice but definitely not an easy one. other than this there was nothing much else for me in season 2. I thought Carmen's budding romance was going to be a distraction and was afraid its going to take away his focused type personality but i get it, at least she's supportive. Trying to match up Sydney and Marcus also seemed a little bit odd to me. idk. The season imo had an equal share of hits and misses. overall, the new restaurant is a beauty and was well worth the gruelling hard work they all put in.

I think the marcus and Sydney stuff was sweet but they kinda have to see what their doing with that shit. I don't know if the actors are being coy, but people are obviously going to see romance in their interactions. They have so many close, person moments that feel much more different than with Tina, carm, her dad, Richard etc. I know it's supposed to platonic and nice, and caring. But in reality people are platonic don't act that way around each other. Friends, even budding ones don't ask the other person out shyly. The will they won't they, but then have the actors pretend the chemistry isn't there is annoying.

Episode 6 is like the passion of the christ. An incredible thing to witness ONCE AND ONLY ONCE. I cannot handle the anxiety of that episode at all, and i watched it with my mom who was way less into it that i was, and i wanted to turn it off. Not saying its bad, but if you want to watch this episode back to back there's something a little wrong with you😂

I actually liked the relationship between Carmy and Claire (i might be in the minority) and i felt exactly the same way you felt about this season. In my opinion the best episodes of this season were episode 6 & 7 without a doubt. I want to say Season 2 was better than the first one and that is taking nothing away from season 1, both are equally great. I love this show
