in my own personal opinion, The Beatles' Second Album is by far the very best of the entire U.S. album catalog. this album totally rocks from start to finish. to actually have both the STEREO and MONO mixes from 1964 on one single CD is a true stroke of genius. furthermore; in addition to its appearance in the volume one box set, the Second Album was also released as a stand-alone CD - once again with both the original STEREO and MONO mixes together. a must-have!

I am late in the game commenting on this video but I grew up listening to the Beatles on Capital (Including VeeJay's "Introducing the Beatles"). I listened to them so much that I could probably tell you the song order on each Capital record. Because of that to this day I still have a hard time listening to the British albums and their song order. Nice video by the way.

Not all the albums had fold-down mono on Vol. 2. It was on two albums, 'Beatles VI' and 'Rubber Soul'. Apple/Capitol rectified it by sending out corrected copies of the 2 CDS by mail exchange at that time.
@jnagarya5193 жыл бұрын
"The Betles" records were originally two-track PRE-MIXED MONO. "Fold-down" doesn't apply.
@rjaraneta9133 жыл бұрын
@@jnagarya519 I'm talking about the Capitol Records, Vol 2 CD box set. IV and Rubber Soul Mono were fold downs of the stereo mix. Capitol later rectified this. Do your research! I have both versions of this box set, with fold down mono and the corrected CDs.

@@rjaraneta913 Can you do review? I really want to know more about Volume 2 and how to spot the differences. Which do you like better, Mono or Fold?
@rjaraneta9132 жыл бұрын
@@edwardiii8409 I like the Mono version better, it sounds clearer than the Fold-Downs. These albums were taken from Capitol's submasters and are not as good as the UK versions. However, if you grew up liking the US albums, you may prefer this set. The best way to tell if you have the corrected Mono version is on the yellow sticker of a sealed set. At the very bottom it has the identifier CDP 8946 3 57487 2 4 SK1. The SK1 at the end means it is the corrected version. If it does not have SK1, you are taking a chance on getting either version. Look up The Beatles The Capitol Albums Vol. 2 on google, there are plenty of info there on this subject.

VeeJay" released "Introducing The Beatles" (12 tracks from "Please Please Me") in September, 1963. I heard them on Chicago radio in October, 1963 (VeeJay was located in Chicago). Capitol ultimately sued VeeJay, which was on its last legs, and thus "The Early Beatles".

The US Album release packaging is incredible. The Gate Fold Help Album, The Beatles Story Album. The original Butcher cover on Yesterday and Today ,with included reissued album cover ( The Trunk Cover) on a sticker. It’s a shame they used the 2009 CD Mixes. But that is now considered cannon. The Capitol Albums Volume 1 and 2 where great because it was the original Dave Dexter Remixes saturated in reverb. If you grew up in america in the 1960’s and 70’s these were the only way we experienced The Beatles. I was not aware that there was a folded down mono version on two of the CD’s on Volume 2. Since these Cd Packages are now out of Print how do you know you are getting the fixed version of Volume 2? Is there a new catalog number ?

The first batch of the second box had an error in the "stereo" mix of "I've Just Seen a Face". That set floods the market. Finding the subsequent release is near-impossible.

You should have mentioned that 96 percent of US Albums box set are not US Capitol Masters, but '09 UK re-masters. Beatles 2nd Album without the US added reverb definitely loses quite a bit of its' totally rockin' solid punch.

I have copies of both Capitol Records box sets. I don't have the vinyl albums. I don't play them at all very often. I prefer the later box set that came out with all of the US titles. The songs just sound better to me. The earlier mixes had way way too much reverb and distortion in the mix.

I always thought that the mono version that was on this set were fold downs. I had the US Albums but I had to sell it for personal reasons but I just got it for the packaging. The original pressings that were in mono but those were fold downs of the stereo. The US Albums aren't that accurate with the songs cause they've used the 2009 remasters in half of the songs which were asinine. But the package looked great.

Juan Marte very true. I’m not sure they forgot as much as they didn’t have the rights to them. I believe Swan and VeeJay had rights to From Me To You, Misery, There’s A Place. And United Artists had the rights to some of the Hard Days Night songs.

Capitol released “I Should Have Known Better” as the B-side to the “A Hard Day’s Night” single in the U.S. and that song, along with “Can’t Buy Me Love”, were included on the “Hey Jude” album in 1970. “Misery” and “There’s A Place” were included on the N. American version of the “Rarities” album in 1980. “From Me To You” absolutely should have been included as a twelfth track on The Beatles’ Second Album, and I admit that this was a huge missed opportunity, and either “Misery” or “There’s A Place” should have been included on “The Early Beatles” as well, but Capitol was stingy by only including eleven tracks on these albums. The same can be said for “Beatles VI”, which ought to have included “I’m Down” (but Capitol did release it on an LP six days before Parlophone/EMI ever did in the UK on the “Rock ‘n Roll Music” compilation in 1976).
