Television: Sunday 01/08/1965
The Beatles made just one television appearance in Britain to promote the Help! album; other shows had to run pre-recorded clips instead.
Blackpool Night Out was made by ABC TV, and was filmed at the ABC Theatre in Blackpool. It was shown by all but one of the ITV companies across the UK, in a live broadcast between 9.10pm and 10.05pm.
The group closed with Help!, following John Lennon's tongue-in-cheek announcement to McCartney: "Thank you Ringo, that was wonderful".

Yes, and thx for mentioning that fact. As a recently retired ( small time ) musical performer / vocalist, ( mainly because of The Beatles ), I submit that The Beatles were one of the best live bands ever. Its too bad the maniacal screaming fans ruined nearly every concert as The Beatles could barely hear themselves along with the true, music-loving audience. Of course John and Paul collaborating made for the best songwriting teams in musical history. Flat out.

What an amazing song! Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t know of a song that instead of having a Call-Response structure has instead a Response-Call. Paul and George anticipating John's lyrics is pure genius. Not mention the quality of the lyrics (introspection on a rock song ! ), the rich guitar work and the harmonies. And as usual, John is monkeying around before introducing probably his (or anybody’s) best song ! These 4 guys had the talent of 4000 squeezed together. It was a privilege to have lived while the Beatles were innovating everything. Most of what now seems routine and accepted in music was incredibly fresh and ground-breaking with The Beatles.

@johnp515
@johnp515 2 жыл бұрын
It obviously depended on the venue and occasion. The big stadium concerts were pandemonium and they could hardly be heard. This is not a purely Beatle audience. it’s a variety show going out on the BBC with The Beatles as just one of many acts including comedians etc. There are obviously a few Beatlemaniacs in there but not enough to drown out the music which is why they sound so tight here.

@imaxdigital7052
@imaxdigital7052 2 жыл бұрын
@@Knightgil Why word your response to be condescending? I'm always struck by the tone people feel comfortable using in an online setting, versus how you would handle yourself in reality, in person. Many if not most modern bands sound sub par when live, despite ear pieces and backward facing wedges on stage to help them hear themselves during the show. I'm merely pointing out the fact that despite not being able to hear themselves, they sounded amazing. It probably has more so to do with the fact that songs were recorded in a single take back then, so the product you saw live was almost a direct copy of what you heard on the album.

@@bigbilltoady412 Do you mean you actually saw them live at the Ed Sullivan Theater during the taping of one of his shows, or that you saw them on television? I know The Beatles performed multiple times for the Ed Sullivan show, but of course the landmark performance that will forever be remembered in the classic rock annals of history was the first one. It was rumored that for those 3 minutes, there was absolutely no crime being committed anywhere in the entire United States solely due to the fact that everyone was tuned into their TV's to witness history in the making. Simply being around when that occurred is an incredible memory to begin with; but to have actually been there in person....Oh man!!....That would be something else entirely! That would be the type of experience one would continuously reminisce about for the remaining duration of their lives! The type of memory that would be so embedded into the very fabric of one's being so deeply; that even if that person suffered from severe dementia or Alzheimer's, later on in life, they would still, in all likelihood, remember that. So which one was it, my friend? Were you actually there, or did you witness arguably the most important performance in music history on the television? I look forward to your answer. I hope to hear your reply soon! 👍😊👍

To hear him tell it, he was very unhappy before meeting Yoko. In fact, he calls this particular period in 1965-1966 his “fat Elvis” period when all he did was drink to excess, eat, and sit around watching tv. You can see the weight in his face here. He had many reasons to be unhappy. He was in a loveless marriage, felt trapped by fame, and felt like he had no friends. Paul was never his best friend, nor have they ever described each other as such. Except for maybe Paul after John’s death, but Paul will say anything.

I really don't know what are you trying to say man, I know the entire Queen discography and there is not one song that sounds exactly like anything that the Beatles have ever done, Queen was something else. Both bands are legendary in their own way, legends support legends. Voice-wise Freddie has an incredible vocal range and a voice that can't be compared to anybody else's, there's talent in every single atom of his body. It's simply dumb to deny this, these are facts.

1:36. John sings the wrong line (should be 'But every now and then I feel so insecure'). You can see Paul&George smile at the same time. As far as I can recall he messed up the lyrics in 'Help' also , at least, in 3 out of the following recorded US shows: Shea Atlanta Hollywood bowl Huston (one of the two shows). Can't recall which he didn't... But many years ago I was playing bootlegs all day, everyday, and noticed that. John also messed up 'you can't do that' in the Poll winners concert 1964, and there too P&G were quick to cover it up. Paul had a tendancy to screwup with 'I'm down'.

No electronics. No augmented sound. No special effects or orchestrations. Four guys in a band. Pure magic.

I’m 34, but I’ve loved the Beatles my whole life. My parents played them all the time, but I really got into them on my own when Anthology came out when I was like 10/11. Watched the whole thing a million times! I think George was so adorable. My life would be so much worse without the Beatles.
