And so begins a long tradition of bands refusing to deceive viewers into thinking that a mimed performance is a true live performance. Lennon especially isn't even trying to be convincing. And, of course, it's kind of difficult to hide the fact that Ringo isn't really drumming, haha.

No, not quite that simple!Trained ears will hear that for this show, rather than merely lip syncing, a recording had been first prepared of the boys audibly playing & singing in sync with their original studio release of the song, which they now are lip syncing to, during the show. That was also sometimes done on TV shows with other recording artist guests.
