I think the Police were watching a particular member of the public walking on the bridge and had to do a quick turn around. Trouble is they just decided a UTurn on tower bridge. Certainly not something I’d consider trying. Then following the incident, no one hung around to exchange details!

Evening Tudor loved the footage I did the mad day out my self ,but not all of it so I thank you .I met the artist who designed the statue of the four Beatles stood on top of the old street round about I bought his book he was signing that day at old street underground . Before it shut for upgrading. it was a fab day so this footage is great .

Great video! Loads of pics used I hadn’t seen before. Have visited St Pancras Old Church several times and also Old Street station in about 2011 - all I could trace even then was the office block featured in the background. However, you can see more of the Wapping river pictures by taking a boat along the Thames, including the ramp down to the water.

It’s funny. Before researching for the video, I was only aware of a few pictures. Now I’ve connected the dots (for myself anyway) I can see how those pictures fit together. You should see the many many I left out of the video. A quick google of “A mad day out” and select images and you’ll enter a rabbit hole 🤣

thank you! When I was with school in London and Cambridge for a week we had just a free afteroon to go around so I had to go to Abbey Road of course. I just became a big Beatles fan after listenting to them for some years. But on every corner I imagined the Beatles where there and took pics. When I was back on train at St. Pancreas I tought looking into the park for a second "that looks like that park where they took pics on the mad day out" I just wanted to imagine it. And doing some research later I realized it was really that park. It felt great.

Thanks for what you do and showing all the locations. I appreciate that as I can’t travel anymore. I did find that one set of photos where John is lying down like he’s sick and everyone looking at him concerned rather strange. I didn’t find it funny. It was bizarre actually. What do you think? Thanks for taking the time to do this. I hope you took Mal's advice to do it on a Sunday! I've been past all of those places at some point over the years but never taken the trouble to photograph them, or in many cases, even stop and look. There are so many interesting Beatles related locations in London, you could probably get several months worth of content filming them! One thing that puzzles me about Paul's geodesic dome is that the floor seems to be at a different level in some of the shots. Actually , what even is a geodesic dome? Thanks again for taking the trouble to put this all together.
@TudorSmith
@TudorSmith Жыл бұрын
Sadly not - I was there on a Saturday. Any future London fillings will definitely take place on a Sunday - and early too. Regarding the geodesic dome (a place for reflection and meditation apparently), I wonder if the floor can lift and drop. Some pictures clearly show it.

Wonderful video, Tudor. I always learn something from them. My family & I are planning to stop at St. Pancras on our first trip to London at the end of July. Those are definitely the most iconic images taken on that long ago day. The photo of the group (& Yoko!) mingled in with the crowd is one of my favorite images of The Beatles. What a shame many of the locations have changed (e.g. Old Street Roundabout) or are inaccessible (river access at Wapping Pier Head). You did a splendid job regardless. Thank you. I actually knew one of the people in the gatefold picture… I met him later on aged 18 at work in 1976…..spooky eh?

Enjoyable as always. The band's last cheerful sojourn for a photoshoot, I believe. No idea why that police car at 1:20 was acting so erratically, though. No lights or siren - how was the cyclist meant to see it from behind the other vehicles? If it had been an ordinary driver doing that and the police had spotted them, there would have been consequences. You mention below that they seemed to be watching someone on the bridge. No excuse. You don't need to suddenly veer across the road, and ram a cyclist, to do that. 6:58 The Inner Light, you might say!

Tudor, thanks for the videos. Have you any plans to go to Weybridge (St George`s Hill), where is John`s house Kenwood (where majority of Beatles songs are written), Sunny Heights, Ringo`s house also in Weybridge and I believe George`s house Kinfauns was also near by?

People under 30, do you listen to classic rock from 1955-1980? That was 60 years ago! For an experiment, ask people that grew up then, if they were listening to music from the 1890s, and watch the looks they give you.

Excellent. BTW The tall plants are Bears Breeches (Acanthus Mollis) but they are Hollyhocks in the original pictures.

That was super Tudor, except I can't believe you didn't break into Paul's house to superimpose yourself on the geodesic dome! Do we know why the Beatles didn't go into Highgate cemetery to stand in front of Karl Marx's grave? Surely they had the 1968 equivalent of a tenner. They definitely missed a trick there considering the other monuments they could have posed by. I do love the St. Pancras Old Church part of the Mad Day Out though, especially when the photos feature "ordinary" people, especially the kids. What a thrill it must have been for them.

I should have (starts singing *he broke into the geodesic window*) 🤣 Don was wise to include all those people at St Pancras but then as a war time photographer he was used to photographing people but to get the Beatles mingling with the crowd was inspired! I wonder if the folk got paid for having their images forever immortalised on the inside of Beatles covers?

That was a strange incident that occurred with the police car involving a cyclist while talking about the Beatles considering how John Lennon's mother died. knocked down and killed by a car driven by an off duty policeman. and later on in 1980 John Lennon was fatally shot and was rushed to St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Centre in the back of a police car, where he died.

Hello Tudor! Beatles 4ever !!!

Hi Tudor, love your work here .. a question of a technical nature..in alot of your videos you have a link to another of your earlier videos, so you might say " click on the link appearing now to see that video" ..how do you do that, what is that function called, do you do it in the video editing software or on youube ? Sorry was trying to think who does this a bit in their vids, remembered you do xxx Thank you

Hi thanks for asking. Once my video is ready to be released, I view it in KZfaq studio and in the Details section, I select “Cards”. It opens a new window and allows me to insert a card (link) at any point on the time line. You can search YT for a tutorial on inserting cards. There are many 👍
