I played my first proper English Opening against someone close to my level. It was a reversed Sicilian in which many patterns thematic to the English had happened or could have happened had I noticed them in time.
I must say that I've enjoyed playing 1.c4 despite the final result. I got an incredibly interesting and dominant position in which there were so many different plans and ideas to play for. You don't get that in most e4 or d4 openings.

A tournament is never over just because you draw in the first round. You can easily come back, since you won't be the only one having the off game where an unexpected result happens.

Nice video bro. I've been playing the English for the past 2 years and I've ran into a position very similar to this twice where bishop goes g4, my default response as I play blitz was to push bishop away with h3 which simply led to an aggressive bishop for a passive knight on d2 exchange.

I feel like whenever the black bishop gets to C5, it's very important to get your king to the H file soon. Your knowledge of the English and videos on the opening variations are amazing so I'm sure you'll be back crushing the middle games soon
