Utahime Iori has always been a character of interest for me since she first appeared and Akutami would drop hints and ideas about her curse technique for over 5 years. And once it was revealed all the pieces about her character began to fall into place. So I wanted to assemble those pieces together and see her true beauty in full.

Yuki was the only other strong female character who had actual importance to the plot but she got killed in her debut fight and her importance is now all contained in a book.

I really liked Utahime’s significant contribution to powering up Gojo’s hollow purple to 200%. I like it when a character with a support ability has a major role in the final arcs of the story.

Not to mention, the higher-ups could use any significant other to threaten him. Hence, its hard for Gojo to be romantically involved with anyone. Hope you can cultivate better reading skills instead reading everything at surface level and waiting for Akutami to spoon-feed you everything like a 4yo 😊

Thank you so much for giving Utahime her time in the spotlight. She's also one of my personal favorite characters in JJK and I definitely love her relationship with Gojo and just how well her cursed technique works with his specifically. I mean, a character that has the ability to make the strongest character even stronger? What more needs to be said? This was a great video Meti!

@@shyysteebleedemyeah it works with everyone the point is just that there are few people that can actually aid Gojo as usually anyone getting involved with his fights is a burden that stops him from going all out. But her ability makes her actually be able to contribute to him specifically, unlike most other characters. So she is one of the few who can actually make him even stronger and not weaker. And she can do for anyone else, yes. But not everyone can do that for him.

@@shyysteebleedem It was unexpected. Up until she assisted Gojo we only got HINTS of her technique. Gege definitely made a deliberate decision to show off her technique while assisting Gojo specifically. It is very impressive that she can make someone already broken even more so.

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! we love our utahime sensei appreciation! she really is a beautiful, interesting, and well-written character even though she barely gets manga panels and anime screentime. it's sad she gets hated on because of being actively involved with gojo but to those who see her as more than her relationship with him, she is one of the best side characters in the series. a major factor to this is how well-researched she is as a character from her name to her outfit to her technique and to everything else you have mentioned and explained so well. thank you so much for this! massive thumbs up. Thank you for doing the video on Utahime. She needs more love and screentime❤. Love how this video highlighted basically the yin yang elements between Gojo and Utahime. Their lil differences actually makes them perfect teamwork partners since they are both able to complement each other in areas where one is lacking. Utahime ultimately being the only one capable of making the strongest sorcerer even stronger is extremely poetic given she's teased for being weak🤣

Love the 2hu she DOES have a lot in common with reimu - both are miko's, both are underappreciated for what they do (reimu saving gensokyo on the weekly and not getting any donations, and her actually being a jujutsu expert but constantly getting teased), purple hair (when looking at pc 98 reimu) and both love their alcohol

I have never seen her fight and the only time we saw her go on a mission she started screaminga and crying in Season 2. And she is absent in the manga and Shibuya arc. The main arc. Also her scar is something normal, Gege replied that Jujustsu sorcerers get scars all the time and it's nothing new. I was expecting something more impressive

Utahime's cursed technique + mechamaru's heavenly restriction = overpowered. Her cursed technique is limited in range but boosts cursed energy output by 120%. Mechamaru's heavenly restriction allows him to control puppets at extremely long distances. He protects her with his puppets, she boosts his stats with her dance.

Utahime is beautiful, strong, courageous, doesn't take any of Gojo's shit, is smart, capable, trustworthy, treats Gojo like an annoying junior (which is exactly what he is) and that's why I LOVE her so much. Her scar makes her look 10 times more badass and sexy and shows ho resilient she is. She's one of my favourite characters for sure.

Hi, thank you for such an in depth analysis of my fav girl in Jujutsu Kaisen and thanks for making this video. She deserves to be known more because despite her meagre screentime, Akutami has provided a great deal of things about her that are worth knowing and tie beautifully into the plot.

The optimization of jujutsu sorcery makes sense. Involving yourself with jujutsu is already accpeting a life of misery, negativity, and eventually insanity. Jujutsu sorcerers cant afford to be asting their time and effort on a part of their technique that isnt really useful enough anyway. I dont doubt that the more and more they tap into cursed energy, the more negative emotions they take in and encounter, and more of their sanity is lost. So if your not optimal with your technique and waste time on parts of it that arent even really that good or worth it, just increases the chances of them completely losing their mind and succumbing to the madness, especially if they cant even complete their goal before they completely lose it.

Your videos always help me to learn new, interesting pieces of info about series I like! This one also gave me a little more perspective about the place of tradition in jujutsu sorcery. Even though the more rebellious, cutting edge sorcerers clearly have GeGe's favor, I appreciate that the story also pays respect to the importance of knowing and drawing strength from history. It feels like there's a clear line drawn between characters who genuinely venerate tradition (e.g., Utahime) and characters who abuse it to control other people, such as the Zen'in Clan.

I think ive done the math right here, so consider: If Utahime does this full on, "nothing skipped' technique for a person, and they let off a black flash in the area of effect: 120% is the same as 2.2x so 2.2x 2.2 is 4.84 or basically 380% buffed with the right conditions, and thats JUST the effectiveness factor of a Black Flash after being let off when a sorcerer is "in the zone". The actual "critical-hit" of a Black Flash is itself is 2.5x the normal effectiveness of the equivalent attack without it That buffed attack is basically doing 450% or 5.5x damage with the 384%/4.84x constant buff after, combining all of these factors together. Of course, this all is a "best case" scenario with everything working together perfectly too, but even then anything even remotely close to this output will be more than enough. Just insane when you think about it

I'm into utahime lately and finding your video is like finding gold! The only thing I want to fix from this video is the explanation about her cursed technique. Meti put the panel when the narrator tells us for a shaman, to excel jujutsu is to excel at subtraction: taking out as many steps as possible to launch your cursed technique, before telling us utahime leaves nothing out. she does not subtract any steps to launch her technique and by doing that, she brings it to maximum potency of 120%. So the 120% is to bring her technique to the highest potency, it's not the percentage of boost she gave to gojo.

I read on reddit she gives gojo 80% boost because gojo doesn't subtract his own steps and bring his technique to 120% too, after she amplified him, Gojo launches 200% Hollow Purple, so 200-120=80% boost from Utahime. But there are other users that say the math isn't that simple. Some say it's 0.4/40% boost, others say it's more than 184 or 300+ % boost. I want Akutami to explain this to us in manga or in a few years when we get the animation.

unrelated but has anyone else felt it becoming really hard to just sit down and watch an anime? I guess I’ve entered some enhanced Weeb-phase where I can easily read 100+ manga chapters in a few hours but sitting down and trying to start an anime, whether an old one that I know from others is good (trying to start steins gate since I’ve never seen it somehow lol) or a new one from recently (Oshi no ko, hells paradise- read both manga but I can’t start the anime for some damn reason without getting bored idk). Maybe it’s just a me thing. ;)

And it is exactly as you think, it's just some weeb phase. The 1st phase is you become the greatest anime lover, in the 2nd phase you become ultimate manga reader, the 3rd phase is you become hatefull toward yourself for being such a weeb and stop doing weeb things all together (this is happening at the same time with quarter life crisis moments of your life). And the last phase is you just enjoying your life and start doing most of weeb things that you used to did again. (That's what happened to me, btw😁)
