I think Junpei could actually enhance Nobura’s character arc. Junpei was able to fight Yuji with zero combat experience, and Yuji could handle a special grade for a short while. Being shown up by your classmate, then seeing Nanami blow you out of the water? On top of all that, Junpei attacks at medium range. Nobura would probably take a back line in the fight, resulting in her not dying.

Another interesting thing about this scenario I noticed you didn't say, is that since Nobara and Junpei would exhaust Haruta's miracles, that would mean that Sukuna would not fight Mahoraga since Megumi is the one who summons it against Haruta, meaning in the Final Battle in Shinjuku, Sukuna wouldn't have Mahoraga tamed. This also means that Megumi wouldn't be injured, which means either He would fight Sukuna or that he would join sides with Yuji against Mahito.

I mean, I don't think it's necessarily true that Junpei would have had to avoid the idol transformation entirely, the fact he speaks to Yuji is enough to suggest he had some level of self awareness remaining. If we changed up the timeline enough that Mahito was a bit more unfamiliar with his technique, Junpei could have easily continued as another Panda-esque character, or Nezuko, slowly working his way back to being more human. This could also have come back around when Todo gets his arm transformed, Junpei could have assisted with bringing Todo back to more or less full functionality and allow him to participate in the Culling Games arc as a key character.

Nobara didn’t unlock the core of her cursed energy in shibuya anyway. She did when she black flashed and was trying to do it again in shibuya but I thought she failed.

one thing that might have happened to jumpei is that because he becomes trained to used cursed energy and is fueled with hate he might develop a small natural defense to mahito basic attacks due to his soul already having an encounter with mahito his soul might be better at defending itself due to being aware of mahito.

Dawg no lie I’m rocking with it but it’s hard to theoretically imagine junpei getting an awakened state to over come a mahito clone when nobara herself gets clapped. real talk I can see junpei being the one to die instead (thinking too much like gege 💀) , knowing that while sad that he couldn’t really be the one to kill mahito, his intervention in shibuya saved nobara’s life, knowing that the two natural enemies of mahito will be enough to kill the cursed spirit Yet this was an amazing vid cause junpei’s “what if” is genuinely interesting cause he could have served as the first reminder to Yuji that his conviction to always save others holds immense weight and isn’t just empty words “Nanami is dead, sakuna killed so many, I couldn’t save… wait I did, I saved junpei and he saved nobara! I think. Nobara herself would be a best friend to junpei, her loud and boisterous attitude always getting onto junpei for being so meek and even encouraging him to “man up” and considering him and megumi the “Emo boy” duo And the same as Yuji, junpei is a result of megumi’s selfish decision to save Yuji’s life, he’s seeing the after effects of what he did, that the gears of the world are just cause a kid who went through hard personal times and who lost someone dear to him (who megumi can relate cause of her coma of a sister) can now smile and laugh

Junpei curse technique int creating moon dregs it’s creating poison witch means he could combine it with kusekabes swordsmanship to be deadly

Just to throw out a few ideas: Taking inspo from Sukuna, he could manifest partial parts of his shikigami, possibly jelly armor and/or spikes this way completely enveloping from danger? Piercing poison? Lots of options w that one tbh
