Interesting! I had some blood work done a few months back and the Dr. told me I was grossly deficient in Vitamin D. I almost thought he was lying. I told him "I live in Arizona are you kidding!" However, I have been covering for many years and every day for the past 5 years that I have been living here-so what you are saying makes perfect sense. Anyway for past 5 months I have been taking Vit D supplements. I do feel better since I have been taking them. Todah, love your videos! :)

Thank you for the wonderful tips!! I have to start wearing head coverings for religious purposes (not every day) and I am learning a lot by watching head wrapping scarves!! I can show some of my hair like my bangs. But, the rest of my head must be covered when leading Scriptural discussions. I need height and fullness on the top of my head! So, I'll keep watching for more ways to wrap a modest scarf! :-)

I ordered some vitamin D supplements because of this video. I hadn't known that before. As for the hair thing, what I do is this: First I put my hair in a ponytail. Then, I braid the ponytail. I wrap the braid into a loose bun and secure it with bobby pins. No more twisting. I use a velvet headband to keep things in place, too, so nothing has to be too tight.

I can tell you 100% from experience ( 2 broken ankles at the same time.) that your vitamin D level totally does go down when you cover your head. I now worn all my friends who cover there hair that they need to get their levels checked out every so often.

I'm still relatively new, so I don't have very many tips but the only thing that came to mind is: don't wear post earrings (the ones that go straight back and need a backing to stay on)... I don't know if it's just me, but when I wear post earrings with tichels, regardless of how loose I tie the tichel the backs of the earrings tend to rub on my head behind my ears as I move my head around throughout the day and it hurts, so beware! haha

Even though I have been coving my hair for years, it's nice to have a refresher as well as new ideas. When I started coving my hair I wore contact. Now that I'm older, contacts aren't an option. Will you post more videos on how to comfortably wear scarves with glasses. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication regarding this wonderful mitzvah.

Vitamin D is actually produced on the skin - not on the hair- when sunlight converts a certain type of cholesterol present in your skin into vitamin D3. If my memory is right 15 minutes a day of sun exposure of the face and hands are usually enough for fair complexions. More time is needed for darker skin because melanin inhibits the process. It is indeed an essential vitamin (otherwise you won't absorb the calcium you ingest) however you can easily get vitamin d from food as well, especially nowadays when most foods are fortified with it. Roaming across YT I stumbled upon your video and here are my 2 cents ^___^

Thanks! I am definitely not that young... and the camera certainly seems to do wonders for my skin because I break out more often now than I did when I was at the age you think I look! ;)

For anyone who wants an inexpensive cap for under the scarf; Amazon carries Hijab caps that are only a couple of dollars and come in lots of colors. I got 2 and am very happy - however they are shipped from China and can take about 3 weeks, but for the price and color selection it's well worth it.

I also thought it was "ridiculous" when I was told - I was living in jerusalem and was out every day in the sun! But it's true and I also feel much better.

I am recovering from a very traumatic birth, please pray that I learn how to wrap fast. I really think I am on the verge of loosing my hair. Both me and my husband are terrified of the idea. We both loved my long thick hair! Now I have to cut it off because in the hospital nobody helped me with my hair and now, 12 days postpartum, I have to cut it. It seems completely impossible to bring it to the state it was before delivery. More than anything right now I need to feel BEAUTIFUL! Please, please pray that Hashem will help me and my husband deal with this!

Covering is one's preference.....I am a Mormon and I decided to cover about 2 years ago. Sometimes I just chose a nice bun cover and sometimes a nice kali or an Amish/ Ana-Baptist type...It all depends on how I feel. I watch about 10 of these videos each week...because tieing can surely be tough. I wish more covering ladies lived in Upper Idaho....it would be nice to have a group....until then I am a lone ranger in covering..any suggestions on where to get some nice floral kerchiefs?..jean

Elizabeth Allison Sorry but Christian women have covered their heads ( not their hair completely) until about the 1970’s. 1Corinthians 11 is the place where Paul discusses the subject. But practically women covered their hair in Europe for cleanliness and neatness, not solely religious and cultural reasons. There is NO Biblical reason in the New Testament NOT to cover - but there is one TO honor your head (authority) by covering when praying. And the mysterious reason Paul adds, “...because of the angels.”

Elizabeth Allison, with all due respect, I have been ingrafted into the common wealth of Israel, through my Messiah Yeshua (Jesus), and the very Jewish New Testament says that I am to cover my head. I am also of Israel. 😇 Just so ya know, I love all the children of Israel. For Salvation is from the Jews. My Messiah, the Son of God was born a Jew and died a Jew and rose again from the grave as a Jew. His name is not Jesus but Yeshua. Yeshua literally meaning "God will save" His name is also Immanuel - God With Us. Judisium isn't separate from so called Christianity. Yeshua fulfills Judisium. Yeshua is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the promised Messiah who doesn't cancel Judisium but fulfills the Law and the Prophets. With much Love !

@@ohthankg-dforthebourgeoisi9800 The mysterious reason you talked about because of the angels is from Genesis 6:1- Now it came about, when men begin to multiple on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God (the sons of God in this passage are speaking of angels) saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. And then verse 4 says: The nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. ( The Nephilim were the Giants that were half Angel and half human.) Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. That's is what Paul was referring to in 1 Corth. 11. Head covering is a sign for the angels of God's authority over us. The angels were punished for coming into women and leaving their abode. Jude 5-6 is referring to Get. 6. Jude5-6 - Now I (Jude) desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all, that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. And ANGELS (from Gen. 6) who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgement of the great day, Peter also mentions what Gen.6 speaks of in 2 Peter 2:4 - For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to puts of darkness, reserved for judgement; So there you have it 😇, the reason woman are to cover their heads is because of the angels, we belong to God and it is a sign for the angels of His authority over us.
