🙌 Thank you so much! If this rain would stop I'd love to get back out there. Don't mind working in the rain, but would rather not plant potatoes in it. 🥔

Hi Jay, for your garlic, once the scapes develop (longer, curled stem with a flow bud at the end) cut them off so the plant spends energy on developing the garlic bulbs. Garden scapes are delicious BTW. We have so many we add them in ice cube trays with olive oil and freeze them for cooking over time.

🙌 Thank you Ted, that's awesome! Wasn't totally sure when the scapes showed up (so will be keeping my eye out for the curled bit), and love the olive oil/ice cube tray tip!🧄🧄🧄

Awesome just awesome J. We haven’t been able to really plant here either some peas , spinach, Cale and stuff like that. Weather here has sucked rain rain and rain just enough to put things off. Plus heading to Parham Ontario for our fishing trip Saturday for a week which leaves Mrs Jack to hopefully plant some stuff. Again love you videos I got my nephew to watch you and loves it. Party on dude lol. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Anything that can help the garden, I'm down for. Looking forward to seeing the results on our little experiment! Will definitely be pruning them much more diligently this year though, that's for sure. 🍅

We are still fortunate to have most of our ash trees. The Ash Borer seems a bit slower where we are. As gst a s the tomatoes go, plabting tomatoes that size probability dorsnt make a difference how deep ypu plant them. Smaller okats definitely benefit from deep planting. Pruning bottom leaves off helps with air circulation and prevents rot and disease. It all looks great!

Thank you for the knowledge on the tomatoes! Definitely keeping up with the pruning this year 🍅 - the Ash Borer has really done a number around here, pretty much wiped out all the trees.. and the ones remaining are quite sad. Only plus about it seems to be the lumber, because other than what they do just under the bark the rest of the wood is nice and dandy!

Hello there Jay, thanks for the plug!! Your garlic looks great and those tomato plants 🪴 are huge. Your raised beds look great do you find that you need to water them frequently. They look real easy to manage being close to your home and how high you built them. Nicely done!!

Hiya Joe! We water them a few times a week - all dependant on the weather really. There's zero shade in this area until well after 5:00 pm, so it gets scorching hot there. I have a water gauge I put in the soil to give me an idea of where things are, but the plants droopy level usually tells me if I need to get the hose on lol.

🍅 It's always tomato time! Honestly, last year we weren't anywhere near thinking about planting at mid-May, we even took herbs inside one night in June with a frost warning... but this year summer seems pretty hell-bent on showing up as early as she can, so who am I to say anything about it? ☀️

You are ahead of us. We will be getting some of our plants outside this weekend! Just not all of the tomatoes that I started inside... and killed... 🤣

OH NO! 😮🍅 What happened to the tomatoes???? It's really early for us to be sure, last year when I built the herb garden boxes in June, we had to bring them in for fear of frost... I certainly hope that's not going to be the case any time soon, but it does seem spring has arrived and is in full force. 🤞

@@simplewoodslife it was more self inflicted. Going too hard too fast as well as too early. Plants started inside, got too big for my area and I had waaaay too many. Eventually I threw my hands up and said I can't do it and I'll start over outside. 😂 Next year I will have my outdoor infrastructure built before spring, plant my seeds in April, and try to automate a few things.

@@farmasaurus Gotcha... that sucks though, I love me some tomatoes. Hear you on the infrastructure side of things, Ms. Lady and I are looking at building a potting shed/greenhouse for us to start from seed and getting a little setup going. I couldn't imagine trying to start in the house with where we'd have to do it + dog lol.

You seem like a very patient man You should plant asparagus seeds I don't know the 100% accuracy of those But I know it takes 5 years to get the 1st crop to produce Good enough to eat And it will always produce and get better and better

I didn't realize it took years?! 🤭 We had planted asparagus a couple years back and it didn't do too well... the following year it came back, but we yoinked it out given how poorly it did the year before. Whoops! 🌱
