I am amazed at how advanced recording is. In 2000 I took video of York Minster with a Sony video camera and the sound distorted, I actually think it could be that the sound waves were causing physical vibrations to the recording head. Now with a phone you get fantastic results. I think York minster are the best sounding peal of 12 there is. It's the magic of the prewar tenor and of course you can have a magic sounding peal but if the tower accoustics are crap like Liverpool is then it's such a waste. The York tenor is very low in B flat and it just has a wonderful warm drone about it.

But Redcliffe are better
@RingerThomas Жыл бұрын
@@dwigley1977 Not really. I have rung there and was expecting more bass and roar. Whilst Redcliffe go better, these are the best twelve in the world for many reasons. The bells have so much hum and therefore beat other twelve’s of the same weight category. Also, the tower these bells are in make them echo like nothing else. Most, if not all ringers would agree that these are better than Redcliffe, by a far mile! Besides, these even won the title as being the best twelve ever!

@@dwigley1977 hardly. I find them and Worcester overrated. Nowhere near the boom and growl York has

maybe that counterweighted clapper?

Are these bells not fitted with the usual wooden stays and sliders? Looks to be metal stays and just some kind of retaining bracket on the lower frame on the tenor?

How did you get let up into the belfry? I’m planning to record my visit to York Minster soon and I’m wondering how on earth you got the permission to go up there, personally I’d love to go up and film in there.

The Original heavy metal music.....personally prefer carillon as change ringing can get a bit repetitive and monotonous
@Steven_Rowe Жыл бұрын
Carillons as you know play music as they have a chromatic scale where as change ringing bells can't as they are swung plus use diantoc scales. I fully a appreciate what you are saying. Change ringing is really good to do, very good mental therapy.
