For the signal chain at the intro, I used a Kingtone Octaland into the 1959 Bassman and an Isle of Tone Luxe 66 Fuzz on the bass.

I had an amazing 73 Strat. I miss that guitar dearly. It was a Daphne blue nitro refin with maple fretboard. Just an incredible player. It changed a lot of people’s minds about 70’s Stratocasters. I admit it was hands down the best one I’ve played so maybe it was a 1/1000 guitar. But they do exsist. Mine was a tremolo guitar but wasn’t heavy at all.

So good to see a 70's Strat getting some love. There are decent ones out there! My '73 weighs 7.10lb (with trem) and is an outstandingly good guitar. Sounds and plays amazing. And yes, more content on dating this please and thoughts on 59 / 70's Strat would be much appreciated. Great work!

Wow that's extremely light for a trem strat of any year!

@AJ XOXO It's simply nostalgia. I'm sure there are some excellent specimens from the 50s, 60s and 70s, however, today's guitars are made with much better precision. The independent pickup manufacturers also turn out a much more consistent product. Any good luthier will be able to cut a nut properly as well as level and crown frets to perfection.

There's a lot more to it than that, Joe. And I am not into the superstition like many are.

@@joesmith8398 Not sure what it is but take it from someone who has owned 50 strats over the years and currently have a dozen or so. They can all be set up tp play and sound great but once in a while there is that "one" that just plays and sounds noticeably better then others and for me it has been a few 70's Strats. Wish I could figure out exactly why.
@whichgodofthousandsmeansno5306

Not to mention I own and have owned many other guitars besides Strats old and new but being I am discussing the best playing and sounding it simply has been a few 70's Strats in my experience as a pro player and collector..

The "With Syncronised Tremolo" decal was discontinued alltogether during 1971. All guitars thereafter had the same headstock decal, irrespective of bridge style.

First of all: Thanks a bunch fo the video!! I've been waiting for that one since you posted a pic of that Strat on your social media. And yes, please do an authentication video! That 70's Strat content is exactly what I love. Btw my '77 OW hardtail weighs 6lbs 13oz (probably the lightest Strat I've ever played) and I've had other relatively light 70's Strats. So, there are definitely more out there that don't break your back as easily as the infamous "boats".
