The 2022 Ducati DesertX is the best adventure motorcycle available today. I’m surprised it came from a sportbike manufacturer, and there are some amateur lapses. But the DesertX achieves something no other ADV motorbike has managed.

When I was a kid in the 90s, they explained me how Ducati motorcycles were driving from garage to garage. I'm glad to see that the manufacturer caught up with that and just codified it into the manual.

@@jessISaRicePrincess Yes. Ducatis in house lability lawyers (just like every other manufacturer) understand that if EVERY detail for a repair ISN'T provided to a monkey (who only has limited tool skills and a basic tool kit), then some rich monkey with a lawyer will file a suit attempting to place liability on the manufacturer for repair costs and injury/death. Giving NO info for basic repairs AND stating "See Ducati Dealer", severely limits the monkeys lawyers from fling poo at Ducati after their 'sh!t the bed' repair work. Blame it on the litigious society in which we live. Lawyers gotta eat. Didn't you get the memo? NOBODY is responsible for their own ignorance/stupidity in this brave new world.

Hands down THE BEST bike review video of all time! As a duc owner I can wholeheartedly identify with the "getting made" buying experience, the "WTF were they thinking" on the cheap ass components, and the "Holy SHIT, this is the greatest bike in the world" feeling, all in the same moment!
@pilotalan
@pilotalan Жыл бұрын
Agreed to all of the above. The Multistrada DVT is both the most fun bike I've ever had, the most flexible, and the most infuriating. The TFT screen is made of cheese and scratches if you look at it. The "handguards" are made of the cheapest, flimsiest plastic you've ever seen and have both a turn signal and the brake/clutch reservoirs mounted to them, so when they break (when, not if), it's far more problematic than it should be. But I grin like a maniac every time I get on it.

@@pilotalan I have been systematically replacing flimsy parts on my Scrambler with sturdier Suzuki parts for years. But nothing can change the lion heart of my Duc! In fact at nearly 50k miles I had the suspension completely swapped out for full ohlins in addition to many other upgrades. Just yesterday my husband took it out for a ride for the first time in a long time and came back grinning like a first time rider. You have to look where he lives, and the roads he has access to. He lives in heaven, in some respects. Look at that footage of Canada. It's just unreal beautiful. I live in WA state, and there are a lot of gravel roads, but it's so dry during the summer that it's not really exciting thinking about going into the woods much, so I explore all the paved roads. If I lived where he did, I'd also want a dirt focused bike. I'm not sure everyone has so much access to wilderness like that? I live in the country, but there's nothing like his footage, omg.

I want to buy all the new ADV bikes, because they are all so awesome. But the ultimate clincher is that none of the modern ADV bikes are geared for real world riding, they do not have an overdrive. Instead, they are geared like dirt bikes, despite American roadways being 80mph to 85mph as a standard. There should be a class action lawsuit against bikes like the Pan American Harley for not giving people a proper overdrive gear; it is engineering negligence, and it's intentional. The Pan America is geared the same as all the other bikes, like the Honda Transalp 750, which means the engine is literally screaming down the road at 80mph at 5,500 rpm. Without an overdrive, you cause twice the engine wear, your require twice the spark plugs, twice the oil changes, and burn significantly more fuel.

Hard to say with this one. After spending a full day with it yesterday, I'm 100% sure that my other bikes are going to be the ones sitting in the garage while I ride the DX. That said, I think a lot of riders are going to find that it is too tall for them and sell it because they can't get confident with the reach to the ground. I saw the same thing happen with the Scrambler 1200 XEs. Eventually fully farkled bikes start popping up used with pretty low mileage and no dirt use and you can get a killer deal.

Ducati captures something for me that no other brand could. My Hypermotard 1100S is the most fun bike I've ever owned, and I've owned a ton of bikes. It captures that balance between a wild animal and docile labrador and gives me a huge smile every time I hop on. I hate the dealership experience, but man are the bikes fun.
@unemployedducatista9997

The H1100S is so much fun in the twisties and some do light off-road adventures with appropriate tires. Unlike post Audi ownership bikes the service manual is available and the desmo 2v are easy to work on. No need for dealership servicing. DIY and independents mechanic.

That 'one day' was 2 weeks ago when I bought a triumph Street triple 675 and joined the dark side. I am 100% sold, this bike gives me something that no car ever could. I could try to put it into words but I don't think I'd ever be able properly explain it, so I won't bother. I think you should also join the dark side, you will be welcomed with open arms....

I laughed with his well performed acting italian skills (hands gesture and cadence). At 0:33, "...when Ducati designers got here...they just...eeeeeehhhh FINITO! (finished! that's it!)". The last part of the video is a mix of latin and italian. Regarding the DesertX, in my opinion, the rear looks great only with the side tanks installed. Otherwise, something is missing there.

Perhaps if I made yootoob money, had 1/10th the riding skills that Ryan does, and there were a dealership within 100 miles who could adjust my chain.... Pretty bike. Impressive numbers. I'm just unable to leave the safe, comfortable bubble of Japanese bikes. The dealer network is better established, the reliability is generally nothing to be concerned about, the cost is more economical, and I lack the talent as a rider to need anything less boring than what they offer. That said, beautiful work! I've watched this video multiple times purely for the entertainment value and quality.
