Kali Audio’s IN-8 has been heralded as one of the most accurate powered studio monitors in its price range, and the second-wave version ups the ante with a new amplifier platform, improved transducers, and an upgraded cabinet. The IN-8 V2 uncovers every detail in your mix - it’s brutally honest. Nothing is boosted or attenuated to mask flaws or spice up its sound, so what you hear is what you get.
In addition to a ruler-flat frequency response, the IN-8 V2 exhibits negligible levels of distortion, ample headroom, and impressive low-end extension for an 8-inch speaker. This speaker’s coaxial design boasts directivity that surpasses any non-coaxial speaker, enveloping your entire room in a uniform soundstage. Its low-noise port tube yields clean, punchy bass. And thanks to its boundary compensation EQ, it sounds great in a myriad of environments. The IN-8 V2 includes an integrated Class D power amp, along with balanced XLR and TRS inputs, and an unbalanced RCA input.
At the end of the day, the Kali Audio IN-8 V2 is a studio monitor that you can trust.
The IN-8 V2 offers ultra-transparent sound reproduction, enabling you to hear every detail of your mix. This starts with an exceptionally accurate frequency response. What’s more, this studio monitor employs larger magnets and voice coils than others in its class, resulting in super-accurate low-end response and impressive low-frequency extension.
The IN-8 V2 empowers you to mix with confidence. Once you dial it in on a set of these monitors, it will sound great everywhere.

Warren I hope you as well are having a marvelous day! Touching bass from SBL again. The move from just retired to once again bass performance and recording is moving along well. I tell every musician I meet about PLAP. Your expertise in helping "we the financed challenged" into decent recording gear is priceless. Thank you. I was planning on buy a tiny Mackie pair of monitors, now I think the Kali LP-6(8) will fit the bill. Until I can move up to a better level like the Kali IN-8. 4 LIVE performances here in New Mexico in the last week and a half! Life and Music are Returning !

I've been using IN-8s for six months and love them. I remember being worried about the hiss before I got them, but the very minor hiss hasn't been an issue at all. It doesn't even enter into the equation when I am mixing. If I needed more monitors, I wouldn't hesitate on IN-8 v2.

I purchased the Kali IN-8 V1 monitors almost a couple years ago. I watched your video on them & I totally agree with you. There's nothing wrong with the original version. They are just as smooth. I was just in Nashville weeks ago with the artist I currently play for & the producer who is producing him is a very well known person (he's produced some major hits). He couldn't believe that the demo of one of the songs (a song that my artist wrote & we the band recorded) was done at a home studio, on live drums (no samples), and mixed thru mid price monitors (Kali IN-8 V.1). He complimented me, by asking "Why wasn't I in Nashville working in a major studio as a recording & mix engineer?" Whether or not he meant it or not, I really appreciated the compliment. And thank to your video on the original Kali IN-8's, I have heard a major difference in my mixes. Prior to the Kali purchase I was mixing thru the JBL LSR4828P monitors. Which also brought my mixing up to a new level until they were stolen back 2019.

Warren, I have been using a set of Kustom three way 50 Watt PA speakers. And Sony MDR-7506 headphones. The PA speakers colored the upper mids and don’t have a great bass response so lately have been mixing mainly with headphones. I just received my pair of the new IN-8’s yesterday and everything you said is true. Listening to my mixes on them I hear what needs fixing, immediately! And there is zero hiss. I have become an instant fan of Kali Audio.

I've been able to hear a new depth to the detail of reverbs, transients, and my mixes tend to translate very well compared to my previous very entry level system. Well done! Just had a quick question for you Warren & here it is.....Do you think you'll be sitting in that same studio, behind that same console even after you're 70? Reason i asked was because you've accomplished so many great things in your lifetime & even till this day, you're still doing music. That just inspires me & motivates me so strongly knowing I'm not alone. I'm only 23 & music is what i chose to do for the rest of my life so seeing you still at it, gives me a huge sign of comfort & peace.

They sounded awesome but the bass made the house shake which he wasn't a fan of, even at lower volumes. God they sounded so good. I'll never be able to afford an other pair. :( I saw in a documentary that Brian Eno has a pair of NS1000's too.

Up until early 2020 the Bluesky System One. 2.1. Loved that sound and found it perfect for my dialogue mixing work. Then one of my closest friends and a fellow dialogue mixer passed away suddenly(get your heart checked mate) and left me his KM120A speakers. I was already eyeing them as a replacement, so these have been my main speakers for the past year. Good low end that I sometimes supplement with a custom sub, especially when I‘m mixing for a 5.1 show. Smooth high end and mids. Workable all day which is one of my gripes with the midrange Genelecs(103x) which struck me as a bit too honest. I‘m definitely checking out the Kali IN-8 v2 in the speaker room of my local supplier, as soon as possible. They have KM120A speakers there too so a comparison without taking them home first is possible.

I’ve been wanting a pair of the Kali IN’s for a while now. I’ve had the same pair of ELESIS monitors for about 18 years (the ELESIS mk 2 active. They are a bit boomy, and not very detailed). I’ve been upgrading my equipment lately, but it takes time and money to build (plus, justifying these purchases to my wife and myself isn’t always easy). I used to mix and record pretty regularly between 2000, and 2012 (myself and local small time artists), but I have six kids and I had to redirect my energy and money. We are now in a place where I can start getting back into music again.

Hey Warren! Hope all is well. Thanks for a great channel and a very interesting video. Yes, I've been keeping these speakers in sight for a while, and it seems already the first version was a real bargain. The only "complaint" was that some engineers found them a bit noisy compared to other more pricy monitors. That wouldn't have bothered me though. I'm more interested in how the speakers translate the actual audio then how little nose they produce (within reasonable limits of course). :) Kali's update to V2 makes me really interested. I've put off making a speaker upgrade since I use Sonarworks (with my M-Audio BX8 Gen 2) and I'm quite satisfied with both the comfortability of the audio as well as the audability of the system. But with the IN8s I feel (know) it's going to be a huge leap of improvement to the setup I'm using today. MAudio and Kali are in different leagues, and the Kalis are 3-ways as well. So I guess the V2s are going to be virtually impossible to resist even for a contented guy liek me. :) Warm greetings from Sweden! / Daniel Vållberg

With a Sony two track, then a Teac four track, then a Tuscan eight track, the a really old Studer sixteen track, then a twenty four track Studer A80. Now I am just on a MacBook Pro, high spec. I use, a pair of KRK, 6’s plus an original pair if Yamaha NS 10’s, plus an original pair of Auratones from 1980. I can’t afford a decent pair of monitors because of situations beyond my control. I would love a pair of Genlecs.

Running HS7’s with the HS8 sub, in a smaller room than I’d like with tons of treatment from GIK, Sonarworks does some gentle sculpting of the remaining problem areas. I’ve used RoomEqWizard and sonarworks extensively to measure response and I found the most amazing thing I ever did was just to treat the room. Huge difference in RT60 and frequency response. If I didn’t have that it really wouldn’t matter much what speakers I had. With it I’m pretty happy with the Yamahas. Now however the question is what’s the next level of awesome!? I have to admit I really loved MDN’s video on this channel about his mixing setup so I’m trying to learn to maximize what I have before I move on but it does seem like some great stuff is out there when I’m ready for it!

Using LP-6 at the moment, which have come in handy this last 14 months or so... As a live guy who's now had to transition into more broadcast style mixing, I'm super grateful to have these, and they'll do me well until I can afford to drop a few thousand on something nicer

Hey Warren.. I’m using the Kali LP 6 as my main driver for 3 years now.. i love them, i enjoy listening on them.. Im planning to buy new speakers ( i have dynaudio LD7 and newmann kh 120 A G in mind), would you strongly recommend these IN8’s?.. My style of music is Indian Bollywood, western pop, electronic and movie scores.. and i mix my own songs..

Nice, I had a pair of the originals for a month, they sounded pretty good but I didnt like the self noise cos i had them quite close to me, plus they were not very flat above 1k (I used Sonarworks on them which sorted it out) but with these improvements i reckon they will sound great now. I ended up going with Neumann's KH310's but they cost more than 3 times the price!

I have a pair of Presonus Eris E5's, and a sub. It took a while to get the crossover between the monitors and the sub just right, but they are incredibly good for their size and price. It's a small room with strategically placed absorbers, and has served me well with tracking and mixing. I'd love to get a quantum leap upward though.

Great video Warren. Always interested in speaker brands and new models. I have a few sets of great speakers. Genelec 1032a’s, Adams A7x’s, JBL 305ps, and Dynaudio Bm5a mkiii’s. Love all the sets but my Dynaudios are my favorites. I have 3 pairs stored of the Dynaudio Bm5a mk1s, that goes back a while. I love Dynaudio paired with apogee converters. To me thats how a lot of older or new records were meant to sound. They tell the truth. Wonder what you think of the Bm15a’s, which I have never tried but that would be a good shoot out with those 3 way Kali’s.

Coming from DT880 cans, I first tried KH120, but to me they were not up to the hype they get. Finally I went oldschool with used 1031a, which I like a lot. Having the reflex openings on the front helps a lot when operating in acoustically suboptimal environments.

Thanks for the review, I work with Yamaha MSP monitors, but I hear the shortcomings when I put on my Ultrasone Headphone up. But most of the time I end up in my car, playing cd. But it would be great if I could hear the mix in the studio. Sunset, did that mix two months ago, love the song.

I do all my recording/mixing on headphones, but have held off on mastering as I haven't any speakers. But, I have been looking into the Kali stuff as they are incredibly impressive with their price point.

Hi Warren, I was going to ask if you would mix differently with the Kali’s but you just answered that question. I am using a pair of M-Audio BX8’s and love the bottom end in them, but I have been looking for a smaller pair for a different reference. I very nearly bought the SL6’s a year or so ago when we were in lockdown but I’m going to have a look at these in the 5” size. Great video and informative as always. Thanks. P.S. how is the small budget studio going? I really enjoyed the build and treatment videos.

I really wish I had studio monitors at all! I end up doing the heavy lifting with headphones and then running around to various systems to check. Have been looking at the LP-6 monitors due to the great reviews but getting these IN-8s would be AMAZING! ;)

I use barefoot mm45’s and I love the way they sound at this point. I feel I know them really well and they are super accurate. I use them with the Trinnov St2 which takes care of room correction and phase. I have been looking at ATC scm45s. If I get another pair it would probably be those. I may just add the sub45s though.

Right now using a pair of M-AUDIO BX8, but hope to upgrade :) They have pretty unpleasant 3kHz, they do not go all that high, but well, I mixed quite a few track using them and I've learned a thing or two :) For the price paid they were not bad.

How awesome is this, here I am, looking for a new set of speakers. Going from Adam T7V, i was looking out for a pair of 3 way speakers with sub. I wanted a good review of the Kali IN8 v2 with the WS12 sub and what is this; One of my all time favorite youtuber doing a review of the exact speakers I was looking for… What a day, and what a set of speakers. Have a great day, and a fantastic future. All the best. Thomas

Thanks for the informative review! How does it compare to the Adams A7X (Currently have a pair of the new A7V on order), and perhaps the PreSonus Sceptre S8(my current pair) if you had a chance to try those? I wanna replace my PreSonus since the self noise is horrid even on the lowest level.
