It’s nice to shoot the latest £15000 competition gun, but most of us don’t have that money to spend, is it possible to get a comparable gun for less money?
I am a sucker for a 80’s trap gun, and when I saw this at Barbury Gunroom, I took it for a round of sporting and just had to have it.
Today I put it in front of the most critical team of judges I could find - Former World FITASC champion Ed Solomons and Sports Vision Expert Ed Lyons - to see what they had to say.
Enjoy!

I haved owned 682X trap for 23 years and it had been sat in my cabinet for some time as I have shooting a different gun for some time. Watching this video fired me up to get her out and give her a blast which coincidentally happened on my birthday 🎉I can’t believe now that I didn’t just stick with the beretta 682X trap the whole time!! What a legend gun that dusts Clays for days 🎉🎉 Johnny you are so committed to your channel to even consider Filming this when suffering awfully that day 😮 I take my hat off to you dude! Hope your fully recovered now and keep up the good work 👍 ps would love to shoot with yourself and solumns one day 🙌🏽

I bought a 682 gold e for £995 recently, 32” sporter, cased, original chokes. Well used but still an absolute joy to handle and shoot, lovely wood and still looks good despite its age (2003) they’re still out there, might look for a 30” now as well.

Hey Johnny! First off, thank for another great video. You always do such a great job. I would to see you review the newest Browning Citori, Hunter Grade 1. I think it come out late 2021 or maybe 2022. I bought the first one my local shop received. I installed a 1/2” spacer and purchased a full set of Midas grade extended, choke tubes. It was a very affordable option, and I absolutely love it. I use it for clay games as well as upland hunting. Please give it a look, I value your opinion.

My daily driver is a 1988 28’ 682 supersport which looks very much your gun, and coincidentally I picked it up for 800 as well. After swapping the slippy original pad off, have had zero issues, aside from the loss of the press-in plastic bead, which improved my shooting in any case as I’m now comfortable shooting beadless.

@@GG-jw8pt The date of manufacture can be obtained by contacting the manufacturer. The value depends on your local or regional market. It’s worth what someone will pay for it. You’ll need the model number and then search the local market to see what it’s going for. If you’re in the U.S. and it’s in good shape, you probably got a deal.

I find this very interesting. I got a beretta scroll when I was 18. Brought it new and the guy that sold it to me said it fitted me almost perfect for it not being a fitted gun. Now I have picked up and shot a lot of guns and 70% hit ratio on live game I don’t think is too bad. My first and still favourite gun is a Niko shadow. I maybe wrong but it is very cheap. However back when I used to shoot a lot of clays 85-90% was an okay day with my good days being around 95% out of 50 clays. My beretta on the other hand the last time I shot clays I shot shot 3 out of 25…. Went sod this and went home. Not fun. I’ve had it out on the pigeons and live shoots since and again I stuggle to hit anything. As I say ever other gun I pick up I am usually fine with. The only difference which I can put it down too is the guy said you should be able to put a pound coin on the receiver/chamber and all you should see is the beed at the end. Every other gun I shoot with my eye is flat to the rib. I added a spacer to my gun to bring my eye down and shot 75% last time I went out with it. This is very frustrating to me and too still not be able to shoot great with a gun I’ve owned for 4 years now is a joke 🤣 any help ?
